If you knew that
eating your best friend’s flesh was the key to
immortality would you do it? For Jack this question
simply started as part of a hypothetical coffee-shop
debate between members of his running club. But after
his friends start to disappear, and news of a serial
killer with some very cannibalistic habits emerges,
he starts to wonder about some of the answers his remaining
friends gave him. Is it safe to go running along the
lake with his buddies anymore?
The Immortal is a morbid yet
humorous three-tiered story told from the point of view
of Jack, the killer, and the police detective assigned
to tackle the case. While Jack and his friends are mired
in paranoia, the detective finds himself at the mercy
of the Medical Examiner’s Assistant, Natasha.
She is a swanky Russian import with a remarkable ability
to hold her liquor, and the detective finds himself
constantly being seduced by this fascinating woman,
never sure if her interest is more about him or the
case he cannot solve fast enough.
And we can’t forget about
the killer. What good would a book about a cannibal
be without an intimate first-person look inside of his
head? What could possess a man to be so delusional as
to believe that the only way to live forever is to eat
his best friends? Can he get away with it? Or will Jack
or the detective crack the case before he becomes immortal?
Only the pages of The Immortal will tell.
