Diamonds aren't Forever
by Betty Sullivan La Pierre
The small town of Medford, Oregon will never
be the same, not since Tom Casey, aka Hawkman, started his
PI business there. His most recent case involves Jamey Schuyler,
a beautiful young woman who has haunted Hawkman for the
past year as the one that got away – not quite with
murder, although she did leave a corpse in her wake. Jamey,
clever miss that she is, used her feminine wiles to coax
Carl Hopkins into partnering on a jewel heist, then set
him up and ran off to South America with another partner,
leaving Hopkins holding the bag – literally. It seems
that Ms. Schuyler planted a bag of diamonds in Carl’s
pickup just before the cops arrived, leaving her free and
untouchable with Carl out of the way. Now, after serving
his time in jail, he is understandably peeved at Jamey.
He has vowed to himself that, if he ever finds the double-crossing
little woman, he will make her pay. Hawkman hopes to stop
him.
Hawkman’s friend Charlie has been renting
a house owned by Jamey, and has become interested in buying
it. But it means that Jamey will have to make a trip back
to Medford to handle the transaction. Nervous as she is,
the lure of more money – and breaking ties with Oregon
forever – is just too strong and she sneaks into town,
hoping her disguise will keep her anonymous. But this time,
she has underestimated Hawkman – and maybe Carl Hopkins
too.
Greed can do strange things to a person, and
Jamey’s gets her into plenty of hot water. Revenge,
on the other hand, is a powerful and dangerous emotion.
When Carl allows thoughts of revenge to blind him to all
else, he triggers a series of events that threatens not
only Jamey’s life, but Hawkman’s friend Charlie’s
as well.
Betty Sullivan LaPierre has perfected the
Hawkman mysteries, blending just the right mix of action
and intrigue with down-home neighborliness. This tale, as
all of Ms. LaPierre’s, gives you several hours of
highly enjoyable escape with an exciting wrap-up at the
end.

Another Great Hawkman Mystery!
When Jamey Schyler fled to South America with
stolen diamonds, she didn't think she would ever have to
return to Medford, Oregon. A private investigator known
as Hawkman would love nothing more than to prove she had
something to do with the diamond heist in DIRTY DIAMONDS.
Unfortunately, she forgot to record the deed to a house
her late aunt had left her. Now she has to go back and prove
she's the rightful owner, and then slip out of the country
again.
Easy, right?
Not hardly. Hawkman seems to be everywhere
and Carl Hopkins, the man she framed in DIRTY DIAMONDS,
is out of jail seeking revenge. And so begins the chase
with Jamey sneaking in and out of the country, eluding Hawkman
at every turn. But what she doesn't know is that Hawkman's
priorities have shifted from gaining proof of her guilt
to protecting her from Carl Hopkins.
DIAMONDS aren't FORVER had me on the edge
of my seat biting my nails and feeling Hawkman's frustration
at coming close to catching Jamey only to have her slip
out reach over and over again. And then there's the shadow
of Carl Hopkins adding suspense and danger to another fantastic
Hawkman mystery.

In this book Diamonds aren’t Forever,
we meet Jamey again, the woman that was involved in the
diamond heist from the previous book, Dirty Diamonds.
Jamey has plans to sell her house, but before she can do
this, she needs to contact the title company, to make sure
all the paperwork gets done. Normally she’d only have
to contact the title company via email, but something went
wrong and now Jamey needs to get back to Medford, in order
to prove that she is the person that she claims she is.
It doesn’t take much time before Hawkman
realizes something is fishy again, and together with his
former colleague detective Williams, he starts investigating
Jamey’s case. He still has questions to ask her since
she first got away… How did she do it? Where does
she live now? Was she involved in the heist or not?
Then Carl, Jamey’s ex-lover, arrives
in Medford. He’s mad at her for taking the fall for
the heist. He can’t understand that she took off,
just like that, and this while he wanted to do everything
for her; damn; he even planned the heist with her! So Carl
wants revenge. For everything that Jamey did to him. For
the love he didn’t get from her, for that year he
spent behind bars. Now Hawkman’s priority is to keep
Jamey safe and alive but meanwhile, Jamey has no clue at
all that Carl is behind her, she is so busy avoiding the
police and Hawkman… Jamey knows that the cops don’t
have a thing on her, so that can play in her advantage.
Will she escape once more, this tricky lady?
I loved reading Diamonds aren’t
Forever. Although it’s actually a sequel to Dirty
Diamonds, it’s also possible to read the books
separately. Again, Betty Sullivan La Pierre did a wonderful
job, she absolutely wrote a thrilling story that you’ll
love reading from page one till the last! Diamonds aren’t
Forever is the 6th book in the Hawkman Series and it’s
written in an outstanding way. To put it in short: It’s
a marvelous book! Betty Sullivan La Pierre, you have a new
fan!!!

In Diamonds Aren't Forever, Betty
Sullivan La Pierre brings back two unforgettable characters
from her book, Dirty Diamonds. Con artist Jamey
Schyler may have gotten away last time, but will she be
as lucky the second time she faces Hawkman?
After a successful diamond heist, Jamey and
Bob are now living in Rio de Janeiro. However when she finds
out she didn't change the title of her aunt's house into
her name and the tenet wants to buy it, she knows she has
to go back to Oregon. Not only is Carl Hopkins, the man
Jamey set up to take the fall for the heist due to be released
from prison around the time she will be there, but Private
Investigator Hawkman is also still in Oregon. She uses a
disguise to go back, hoping she won't be recognized. She
sees Hawkman at the airport and panics, so instead of taking
her time and doing the paperwork right, she botches it and
signs the wrong name at the title company and will have
to return once again. With Carl back in town now, things
are heating up for Jamie.
Hawkman finds out Jamey has been in Medford,
but left before he could confront her. Now he's learned
that she has to come back and that Carl is in town waiting
for her to show back up. He's got his contacts on the alert
to let him know when she flies in. Hawkman knows Jamey is
a con artist and he wants to talk to her, but he doesn't
want Carl to get a hold of her. Hawkman tries to keep tabs
on both of them, but they keep slipping by him. After the
way everything is going, Hawkman thinks he knows what happened,
but does he really?
Ms. LaPierre has written a story that reminds
me of the Mickey Spillane stories. Hawkman, as the private
detective, has his hands full. The author has a P.I. that
you want to keep hearing about and how he solves them. If
you like detectives and mysteries, this is the author for
you. This is a return of Jamey from her previous book Dirty
Diamonds where she eluded Hawkman. Even though this is part
of a series it can stand alone. You don't have to read the
others, but after reading this one you'll want to, I know
I went and got them. I'm glad that Ms. LaPierre has continued
her character Hawkman, he's not only likable but lovable.
Her characters are a joy to read about and the interaction
between them is very believable. The other books in the
series are: The Enemy Stalks, Double Trouble, The Silent
Scream, Dirty Diamonds and Blackout.
