Angie and Bud Nevers are hosting a large party. After the party is well under way the doorbell rings and a young, gorgeous blonde apologizes for being so late and asks to see Bud. Angie thinks all the guests have arrived, but goes to tell Bud that someone named Melinda wants to speak with him.

At the mention of the name Bud rushes to the door and quickly leads the visitor outside.

After fifteen minutes elapse and Bud and Melinda have not returned to the party, Angie goes outside in hopes of meeting the newcomer. But the newcomer is gone and Bud’s in a very foul mood. He won’t tell Angie who the girl is. In fact he refuses to discuss her at all.

The next morning is Bud’s regular Saturday golf game. He tells his business partner and golfing buddy, Ken Weber, about Melinda’s visit the night before. Ken is quite shocked and wants to know what she wanted. All Bud tells him is that Melinda doesn’t want the money to stop. He then confronts Ken about the identity of the ABC Wafer Company. Ken replies that he has no idea what Bud is talking about, but Bud insists that something fishy is going on with the books at their business, Nevers Computer Technology.

Meanwhile, Angie is anxiously awaiting Bud’s return home so they can talk about the mysterious Melinda. She waits and waits, but the confrontation is not destined to take place. Bud cannot return home because his burned body is located in his charred Porsche at the bottom of a ravine where it met head-on with a large oak tree.

Thus sets off an investigation that uncovers murder, embezzlement, and some pretty sharp computer manipulating. Ms. La Pierre has woven a mystery so cleverly intricate that the only way you can guess the killer is to suspect everyone.

Bud and Angie Nevers were best friends as well as husband and wife. Nothing was kept between them or left unsaid.

Bud usually golfed on Saturdays, leaving the rest of the afternoon to spend with Angie. When he didn't come home or call by the evening, she was worried. After contacting several people, a detective friend named Tom, found Bud severely burned to death in his car that fell off a cliff.
Angie was devastated. How could Bud have steered off the road when he knew the turns like the back of his hand? These thoughts plagued Angie. She was thinking maybe he was murdered. But by who?

After many attempts to find out the truth, several things came out of the woodworks. A woman named Melinda came to Angie saying she was Bud's illegitimate daughter, and Marty, their housekeeper, of over 20 years, is her mother. Bud's friend and associate at work is accused of being the number one suspect in the murder. A dummy company was set up in the books at Bud's company, indicating several other events that happened. The accountant, Ryan Conners, after appearing suspicious by Tom, was found dead in his office, apparently by suicide. Come to find out later he was embezzling from the company. And after more investigating, was actually murdered.

Even though many events happen throughout this story, you won't be confused. In this fast-paced novel, you won't want to stop reading it. It really captures your attention, while not leaving you hanging in the end.

You could say that Bud Nevers has it all. Bud has a beautiful wife of twenty-five years, Angie. He owns his own business, Nevers Computer Technology. Bud's best friend, Ken Weber, is his business partner. Things always look better from the outside looking in.

At the Nevers’ anniversary party, Bud and Angie are entertaining all of their guest when the door bell rings. With the housekeeper, Marty, in the kitchen and Bud conversing with guests, Angie goes to get the door. She is caught off guard by the beautiful tall blonde stranger with the most piercing green eyes that she has ever seen. She introduces herself as Melinda and informs Angie that she is sorry for being so late and that she is here for Bud. Angie rushes over to her husband and informs him that a young stranger named Melinda has arrived. Bud leads Melinda outside. Angie could see that Bud is angry with Melinda. Angie starts to fear the worst. Could Bud be having an affair?

At Nevers Computer Technology, Bud has hired on an intern, Bill Crane, who is really eager to learn. As Bill is going through paperwork he comes across a questionable entry in the accounting books. ABC Wafer Company would take fifty-thousand dollars out on the same day every month for the past year. After looking at the stock market, Bill realizes that ABC Wafer Company must not be a real company. Bill explains to Bud what he has discovered. Bud knows that someone in the company is embezzling money from his company. Bud contacts his auditors to take care of this problem and informs his CEO, Ken Weber, about the discovery.

Just when Bud thinks that things can't get worse, Ken and Sandy Weber’s twin girls are in an accident. For the next week, Angie helps Sandy take care of the twins. To Bud, the week is a big blur. He is sure that his problems only come in threes, Melinda showing up at the house, the problem with ABC Wafer Company, and now the Weber twins. Angie finally decides to confront Bud about Melinda after his golf game with Ken. But Bud never makes it home. Angie, scared and unsure of what to do, calls her friend Tom Hoffman, who is a detective. Angie’s biggest fears come true. Bud is dead, but the worst part is that he was murdered.

Murder.com is one of the best books that I have read in a while. I could not put the book down. I wanted to find out who did it. When I found out I was blown away. Murder.com has so many twists and turns that it grabs a hold of you and does not let go. Ms. la Pierre has got herself a winner here. I will recommend this book to everyone I know.
