End or beginning?

Ah, I sighed when I checked the traps. It seems I didn't catch anything today either.

I haven't eaten in two days. The fire reached this place also, and all the remaining animals fled.

It looks like I have to move on. I angrily kick into one of the traps and walk back to the bunker. I open the bunker door.

Lock it as soon as I enter and start climbing down the ladder into the darkness.

I get off the ladder and start fumbling around for switches.

I can feel something sticking out of the wall, and I pull it, and suddenly the power comes on, and the whole bunker starts to hum.

Damn, I hate this place. I say and take off the gas mask; the whole place is gray and dirty.

There are no rooms; only a large room and a smaller separate part with a water tank are there, and next to it are a toilet and a shower.

In one corner, there is a folding chair, a broken bed, and a chest with a couple of bottles of water and some emergency food.

It looks like I have to go because if the fire reaches me, I can't go out, and the ventilation system is also broken.

If I pack now, I can leave tomorrow. but I eat first because I'm going to collapse.

I opened a can of food and a bottle of water and had dinner. As I finished my dinner, I threw the can in one corner.

I turned off the power and went to sleep.

Ahh, I groan and I sit up in bed. It's a terrible feeling to

get up because I never know what time it is because it's completely dark and I don't see anything changing here.

I turn on the power and go to the toilet.

I load my guns, clip them to my belt, and strap my axe.

I look around the bunker and see if I have everything. Nothing is missing, I say.

I put on the bag and the gas mask and started climbing up the ladder.

I opened the bunker door and climbed out.

  this wonderful poisoned air

Surely the whole area is now much yellower and smoker; has the fire already reached here?

I have to hurry, so I head in the direction where the sky is clearer.

  I think I'll go north; if I'm right, there's a river.

I kept going forward, but where there should have been a river, there was a damn big canyon, and the whole earth collapsed.

Okay, don't panic. The fire is getting closer, and I can only avoid it, by about 5 km.

Okay, there is no other option; the air is getting smoky, there is no time to escape, or death by burning, or I will climb down.

I exhaled and picked up a pair of gloves. I slowly started to climb down. I could feel my nails breaking.

but now that's the least of my problems.

I let out a small scream. My foot slipped, and I almost fell down. I felt a terrible pain in my finger, and

I saw that the blood soaked the glove. Grrh. I growled like an animal and kept climbing down.

One of the stones falls out from under my hand and breaks my little finger.

Ah, I started cursing out loud all the gods I know.

but my feet finally hit the ground. I look down at my hands, and my fingers are all red and muddy. Lucky for me, I'm wearing gloves.

No problem; I'm alive, but it really hurts.

I quickly looked for a small straight stick and took out the bandage and alcohol.

I took off the gloves and looked at my hands. My nails are completely broken, and blood is pouring from all of them.

I put a rag in my mouth to muffle my screams, and I doused both hands with alcohol.

A few drops of tears run down my face, and my whimpers are heard.

I throw away the empty bottle and start to bandage my hand, and when I'm done, I tie the stick to my broken little finger.

and take back the glove on which the blood has already dried.

I spat out the rag and stifled my screams. There is no more time for me to go or die here.

Luckily, there was a part where it wasn't too steep, and I could go up the other side without any problems.

I continued to walk forward. I marched for about a couple of hours without any problems.

It got dark, and I didn't see any signs of fire nearby, so I guess I'm setting up camp, but I heard sounds and not animal sounds.

I drew a pistol from my belt and began to approach the sound from behind the trees.

Adrenaline filled me, my senses were sharpened, and I forgot about the pain.

There is no place for friendship. Kill or be killed. This is the only law that exists.

I hid behind a big tree and saw a group of people looting a corpse.

Not surprisingly, I have also seen cannibalism.

phew, I blew out the air and aimed. There were three people there; I shot the smallest one first.

The pistol went off, and the smallest half splashed and fell.

The other two suddenly cried out, grabbed their weapons, and started looking for me.

I didn't hesitate and immediately started shooting them in order of height, but they noticed me.

and the middle one shot me on the shoulder before he died; the third one was quite slow and died immediately.

Oh sh*t, I scream in pain and immediately drop my bag and grab my first aid kit.

Luckily, it didn't hit an organ, so I pulled the bullet.

and I squeezed it to stop the bleeding, doused it with alcohol, and then bandaged it twice.

I'm bloody again; apparently it's not my day. I laid down on the ground and fell asleep.

I woke up to find the air much smokier than it was, and my shoulders and fingers hurt terribly.

Ahh, I can't stand this anymore. Oh god, why do you do this to me?

I bandaged my fingers, and when I took the bandage off my shoulder, it was completely swollen, red, and burning.

Oh, god, don't say the wound is infected. I bandaged it again.

shit I'm low on bandages and have to get alcohol from somewhere; these people didn't have anything.

Whatever, it doesn't help if I just sit and think; I have to move, but that requires energy. I only have 4 liters of water and 3 cans.

I take out a bottle of water and some canned food and start eating.

While I ate, I looked at my gun and thought that one move would be enough to end this suffering.

I shake my head, throw away the empty can, and drink the water.

I put the bottle back, got up, and headed towards more smoke-free landscapes.

I've been walking for a long time now. I look up at the sky, and the sun is in the middle. It's noon.

but the pain is getting stronger, and I looked over my shoulder again.

and a small line started from my shoulder towards my head, so it looks like I got tetanus.

  Yeah, I'm dead.

The days passed quietly; it's been three days since the fight.

The line has reached my eyes. My pains are getting stronger every moment, and I'm suffering like hell.

I can't think straight anymore; I've run out of food and water, and there are no more bandages or alcohol.

There's no way out; the air is very smoky, and the whole sky is yellow. I can't go any further.

I don't have the strength to walk anymore. Right now, I'm lying under a tree and looking at the red sun.

It's getting hotter, and I feel like the fire is about to get here.

My time has come, but I'm proud to have survived. When I was a kid, I always dreamed of experiencing something like this.

and I managed to survive thirteen years in this living hell.

I felt my eyes slowly droop and knew they wouldn't open again.

It was painful but also exciting—better than living in a factory for sixty years and dying as a slave.

I closed my eyes and was swallowed by the darkness.
