Chapter 117: Collecting Supplies

Since they were going to carry out a mission in harsh weather conditions, thorough preparation was a must.

The base staff didn’t dare to sck off either. They immediately summoned the combat teams to the Craftsman Department to collect cold-weather supplies and repair their weapons.

Early the next morning, Qin Luo led the entire team to the Craftsman Department. It was the same friendly staff sister who had assisted them st time, and she handed over a significant amount of gear to them.

“These are expedited cold-resistant suits from headquarters. They’ll keep you warm even in temperatures dozens of degrees below zero. We’ve also prepared moisture-proof mats, insuted tents, and sleeping bags.”

The staff sister quickly introduced the new equipment. Since the mission was in R City, where vehicles couldn’t enter, even for ability users with enhanced physiques, completing the mission wouldn’t be easy. They would have to rely entirely on foot.

Moreover, no one could predict what might happen along the way. Without transportation, the mission would take much longer, making rest on the road a critical issue.

Tents, sleeping bags, outdoor cooking tools, food to ward off the cold, medicines, and so on—all these essentials had been provided uniformly to the combat teams by headquarters.

  The only exception was weapons.

Due to the rarity of certain materials, they couldn’t supply all combat teams equally. Instead, priority was given to the most capable teams to maximize the efficiency of resource use, ensuring that one plus one would be greater than two.

The staff sister instructed them to hand over their weapons for repairs. “Put all your weapons into this basket. They’ll be returned to you, along with the modified vehicles, before you depart.”

The 3A team silently took out their weapons, which indeed showed “some wear and tear.”

The staff sister was stunned. “Wow, you guys really know how to wreck things.”

  She was utterly shocked!

Especially the little zombie’s chainsaw—it was made of such durable material, yet it had nicks and bends all over it…

But considering how fierce 3A was in combat, she quickly composed herself after realizing her reaction might have been inappropriate. With an awkward smile, she said, “Sorry about that. I’ll send them for repairs right away!”

And with that, she hurried off.

Chen Xiaofei scratched his nose sheepishly. “Well, it’s not like we did it on purpose. Those mutated creatures are just too tough! You can’t really bme us.”

Bai Shu calmly chimed in, “Exactly.” Thankfully, the headquarters staff were thoughtful enough to provide him with a pair of special gsses made of unique materials, ensuring that the lenses wouldn’t fog up even in freezing temperatures.

Wang Weihu pulled out several pairs of goggles. “These are great. At least we won’t have to worry about snowstorms blinding us.”

Meanwhile, Qin Luo was inspecting the supplies. “Divide these into five portions. Everyone gets one. Xu Duoduo, come over here. I’ll help you install a spatial card.”

Thanks to Xu Duoduo’s outstanding performance and high efficiency during missions, headquarters had approved a 150-cubic-meter spatial card for her.

When Qin Luo saw her approaching, he lowered his head and carefully installed the spatial card into her wristband.

Xu Duoduo looked up at him. The focused “big dog” was unexpectedly adorable and obedient. What a good boy.

She raised her hand and patted his hair.

Qin Luo clicked his tongue but didn’t move. “No ears today, and you’re still patting me? If you’re going to take advantage of me, you better take responsibility, you know?”

  What a chatterbox.

Passing staff couldn’t help but ugh. One of the bolder ones teased, “Captain Qin is so obedient, huh?”

Qin Luo’s face turned slightly red with embarrassment. He gently put Xu Duoduo’s hand down. “Alright, that’s enough. Go py somewhere else.” Her hands were oddly soft, he thought to himself.

After the spatial card was installed, Xu Duoduo tried sensing it and was amazed to find that she now had access to a small storage space. It was pure white—completely bnk. So this was what the headquarters’ spatial cards were like?

She experimented with storing the newly issued supplies in the spatial card. The process was smooth, though she had to press the wristband to activate it, which wasn’t as convenient as her innate spatial ability.

Still, for ordinary people, this was already a luxury. Most combat teams only had a spatial card for their captain, but in 3A, every member had one. It was enough to make others green with envy.

Wang Weihu busied himself dividing the supplies and helping everyone store them in their wristbands.

The “team dad” was genuinely thoughtful.

Once they had their supplies, they prepared to leave, pnning to stop by the alchemist’s shop next.

Qin Luo intended to buy some attribute-enhanced winter gear for Xu Duoduo, as well as for the rest of the team.

As they exited the Craftsman Department, they ran into the Cheetah and White Dove teams, who approached them with excitement. “What a coincidence! It must be fate!”

“We said we’d go on a mission together next time, and here we are. Amazing!”

“Brother Qin, Brother Qin, please take care of us again this time! We promise to cooperate fully with you!”

“Brother Wang! Long time no see! We’ve missed you so much!”

It had only been two days since they st met.

  Ridiculous.

But the Cheetah and White Dove teams seemed to be bound by fate, always ending up on missions together.

Qin Luo nodded coolly. “Yeah, it really is a coincidence. You guys here to pick up supplies too?”

Although the base’s heating was on, it was still freezing. The members of the Cheetah and White Dove teams were bundled up like bears, looking adorably silly.

Wang Weihu couldn’t help but ugh when he saw them, but he maintained a serious expression as he said, “Make sure to get plenty of rest these couple of days. We don’t know what the situation in R City is like, so stay vigint!”

However, knowing Wang Weihu’s personality, the Cheetah and White Dove teams weren’t intimidated in the slightest. They ughed and agreed, even joking that they’d follow 3A’s vehicle during the mission for a sense of security.

The rookie teams bent down politely to greet the white-haired little zombie, who was wrapped up like a ball.

  “Hello, Little Captain!”

“Little Captain, you’re so cool! Every time you rev up that chainsaw, it’s unbelievably awesome!”

“Yeah, yeah! We’ve been following you on the forums! Little Captain, you’re amazing!”

Before Qin Luo could react, Chen Xiaofei exploded first. “Hey, no, who are you calling Little Captain?”

The Cheetah and White Dove teams replied, “Isn’t Little Captain what your team calls her?”

Chen Xiaofei immediately refuted, “No way! We’re middle school cssmates, okay? You can’t just call her that. You’re not even in our css!”

For once, he acted all proud and possessive.

That title represented their shared youth, their unique three years together.

The Cheetah and White Dove teams finally understood and turned bright red with embarrassment.

Xu Duoduo tilted her head, watching them curiously.

Wang Weihu ughed heartily and tried to smooth things over. “Alright, alright, Xiaofei, stop teasing them. It’s just a nickname. You guys should hurry up and get your supplies. Don’t waste time.”

Rookie teams always had this endearing, clumsy charm.

The Cheetah and White Dove teams quickly apologized and ran off in embarrassment, their voices fading as they argued among themselves. “I told you not to call her that!”

  Bai Shu chuckled.

Chen Xiaofei was still grumbling, “No way, no way. Little Captain is ours and ours alone!”

Bai Shu called him childish, but deep down, they all felt a bit territorial about the nickname. Hearing outsiders use it did feel strangely uncomfortable.
