21. Moving Day

"Vikki!" Jenna excimed as she tightly clutched my arm.

I could feel her almost buzzing with excitement against me as I asked, "Yes Jenna?"

"Eeeee!" the genie responded. "I'm so excited!"

A moment ter she asked nervously, "This is it, right? It's really real? All the deys and bureaucracy are finished?"

"That's right," I nodded. "The paperwork is complete, all the red tape is done, and you've got the keys in your hand. This is now your house, it belongs to you."

It was mid-afternoon on Friday August fifth and we'd picked up the keys from Jake Green's office a few minutes ago, then I drove us directly over. Now the two of us were standing just inside the front door, and I had to admit I was feeling almost as excited as she was acting.

All the rooms were empty and the walls were bare, the former occupants had moved all their belongings out into storage. Or rather, Jenna paid top-dolr to have some professional movers come in and carefully transfer all the previous owners' belongings into storage.

"Aaaaaa!" my genie squealed as she bounced up and down on her toes. "So we can move in today? Can we move in right now? Oh my gosh can we get pizza delivered to our new house?! Pizza's the traditional meal for moving day, right?"

I smiled, "You're handling the moving arrangements, remember? But the house and the nd are all yours now, so if you can get movers to show up this afternoon then we can absolutely move in today."

Jenna fshed me a wide happy smile, "Yeah! I'm handling the moving arrangements, so we don't need movers Vikki. Not when we have magic!"

To be honest I already expected that, and I managed to not even wince or flinch when she raised her arm and flicked her wrist. There was a fsh of light, and suddenly the living-room was furnished. My sofa was against the wall, opposite my TV and entertainment unit. And my favourite chair was tucked in the corner next to the bay windows, with a view outside facing the train tracks. There was more room here than in my apartment, but a love-seat that matched my sofa and chair had appeared to fill some of that extra space.

I turned around to look at the dining area and kitchen, where I found a big polished mahogany dining table and matching chairs with leather seats and back rests. My small table and chairs were in the kitchen, along with my toaster and coffee maker that had appeared on one of the counters. And a brand-new set of fancy designer pots and pans hung from a row of hooks on the wall opposite the stove. I assumed the cupboards and drawers were already full with all my ptes and cutlery and everything else.

"What about the bedrooms?" I asked. "I assume Mount Plushmore and the pillow pile are already here too?"

The genie was still grinning as she nodded happily, "I set up the main bedroom exactly like our bedroom at your apartment! And I put all your clothes and things in the second bedroom, since I know you don't like relying on my magic to get to your clothes all the time. I also added a nice new bedroom suite with a big comfy new mattress and stuff! So if you get tired of the pillow pile there's another option that's better than your old threadbare mattress."

"Aw," I smiled. "Thank you Jenna, I appreciate that. How about the bathroom?"

She shook her head, "I haven't done that yet. I think we should renovate the bathroom first, to make it better? And I still want to do that sliding door balcony thing with the main bedroom too!"

I nodded, "Magical renovations, I assume?"

  "Of course!" she grinned. "C'mon!"

My excited magical friend practically dragged me up the half-flight of stairs to the second level, where the two of us stopped just outside the bathroom door. Then she frowned and bit her lower lip as she stared into the bathroom for the next few seconds, while I waited patiently.

"Vikki," she asked in a quit thoughtful tone, "Would you be very uncomfortable if our bathroom was just a teensy bit bigger? And maybe just a smidge fancier?"

I hesitated, "It's hard to say Jenna, without knowing what you mean by teensy and smidge. I suppose my first question is, if you're going to make the bathroom bigger will you be making the bedrooms smaller?"

She shook her head, "Nope! I'm not going to change it that much, so I won't have to borrow space from either bedroom. And I won't be changing the over-all size of the house either."

"In that case I suppose it doesn't matter," I told her.

"Great!" she excimed happily, then reached a hand out towards the bathroom and flicked her wrist.

Suddenly instead of a typical small bathroom with one toilet one sink and a shower head over the tub, I found myself looking into a room with more square footage than my entire apartment. It had to be almost ten meters wide and at least six meters across, except in the middle of the opposite wall where it bulged out another three or four meters. The ceiling was suddenly much higher too, at least four meters, which along with the increased floorspace gave the room a huge voluminous feel.

The space was dominated by a massive white cw-footed bathtub in the very centre, that was easily big enough for two people. In the corner to the left was an enormous walk-in shower with gss walls and multiple shower heads, some of which were at the ends of long hoses. On the right was an enclosed sauna, and beyond that was a matching toilet and bidet set. To the left and right of the doorway were matching hers and hers countertops with stylish designer sinks and rge mirrors.

All the fittings were polished brass, the tub and shower and sinks and other fixtures were all pure white marble or porcein, and every surface from the floor to the counters was made of bck and white speckled marble. Brass towel racks and hooks were conveniently located throughout the room, and each was home to several big fluffy-looking terry towels and bathrobes.

Finally the far wall opposite the doorway was home to a rge floor-to-ceiling bow window set that followed the contour of what appeared to be a circur indoor swimming pool, or perhaps it was a hot tub. Whatever it was, it was about four meters in diameter and was fnked by a pair of marble fountain statues. The one on the left was a naked woman, kneeling and leaning forward as water poured into the pool from a container she was holding. And on the right was a naked cherub, squirting water out of its mouth into pool.

For the next five or ten seconds I stared wide-eyed into a bathroom that looked like it belonged in a royal pace. Then I slowly stepped back and looked to the left and right. The two bedrooms were both still there, despite the big shower stall being where the master bedroom was located, and the second bedroom occupied the same space that was also home to the sauna.

"Jenna?" I asked slowly, in a quiet uneasy voice. "What... How... I think maybe we need to talk about your use of the words 'teensy' and 'smidge'."

She gave me a hopeful smile as she pointed out, "Like I said, neither of the bedrooms had to move or get smaller. And I didn't change the size of the house, from the outside it's exactly the same as before."

"What are we going to tell people when they see it?" I asked. "This is kind of impossible to expin, Jenna."

The genie responded, "If we have guests they can use the half bathroom downstairs. This one will be our private bathroom."

I turned around and gestured, "It's at the top of the stairs, there's a clear line of sight down to the front door. The pizza delivery person is going to see the marble statues pouring water into our second-floor indoor swimming pool. Speaking of which, why do we even have that?"

"I said I wanted to make the bathroom a bit more fancy," she reminded me. "And nothing says fancy like marble statues pouring water into your own private upstairs indoor pool!"

Her excitement returned as she rushed into the bathroom to stand next to the big cw-footed tub, "And look Vikki! Thanks to all those windows you can see the creek from our new bathtub! And from the pool too, since that's right up against the windows. Isn't it great?!"

As much as I trusted Jenna, I couldn't help feeling a little anxious as I stepped into our new patial bathroom. I kept asking myself how it was possible for this huge room to fit in the same space as the original normal-sized bathroom. Where it originally took me three or four strides to cross the entire room, now it took me twice that just to reach the tub where my magical girlfriend was standing. And that wasn't even the halfway point, there was still more room in front of me than there was behind.

My genie was right though. Thanks to the full-height bow windows there was a pretty good view of the backyard and the creek. And as I stood there looking around the luxurious bathroom I made the conscious decision to try and just accept and enjoy it, rather than obsess about how it worked or the fact that it was completely impossible. Instead I thought about how rexing it would be, taking a long peaceful bath in that huge tub. Or how nice showers would be in that big gss-enclosed stall. Or for that matter what it would be like swimming or soaking in our little indoor pool.

"You're right Jenna," I finally responded. "It's a nice view. And it's a nice bathroom, even if it is a little ostentatious."

She grinned and gave me a quick hug before announcing, "And now for our bedroom!"

With that she turned and marched back out the door, while I hurried to catch up with her. I still had a hard time getting my head around the impossible size situation there, it took us fewer steps to get from the bathroom door to the master bedroom than it did to get from the bathtub to the hallway.

The main bedroom was already waist-deep with all those soft silk pillows, and the walls of the room were draped with silk curtains. And once again the pillows and wall coverings were all in the subdued red orange pink and white tones from the lesbian pride fg. Mount Plushmore was in the corner where the closet used to be, and Jenna's enormous pink plush pony sat at the top of the pile like she was the queen watching over her domain. The room itself was unchanged though, apart from the missing closet. It still had the standard-sized window overlooking the backyard, but positioned so we couldn't really see the yard while ying down in the pillows.

"Are you still pnning on sliding gss doors and a little balcony?" I asked.

My genie nodded enthusiastically, "Yeah! I'm just wondering if that's enough? Maybe the whole back wall could be windows? Then we'd be able to see the whole yard and creek and everything, no matter where we were in the room."

I frowned as I waded through the pillows to stand next to the window, "That would give us a good view, but it would also let people outside see in. Wouldn't it? I know there's lots of trees out there by the creek right now, but after the leaves fall in autumn it'll give the buildings across from us a view right into the bedroom."

"Nah don't worry about people seeing in," Jenna replied as she raised up her hand. "I'll use that special gss that only works one way. We can see out, but nobody will be able to see in!"

I was still standing next to the window as she flicked her wrist, and I may have jumped slightly as it suddenly expanded to fill the entire wall. The silk curtains along that wall retracted into nothing as the window grew rger, while just outside the bedroom a balcony appeared out of thin air. Finally the window parted directly in front of me to form a wide sliding gss door, while a pair of comfy-looking outdoor chairs popped into existence out there. And a cute little table appeared in between them, perfect for enjoying coffee out there in the morning. Or sipping wine in the evening.

"C'mon!" the excited genie excimed as she pushed past me and slid the door open.

I couldn't help feeling nervous again as I gingerly stepped out onto the balcony that hadn't been there a minute ago. It was completely solid and real though, and felt perfectly safe and strong and stable.

As soon as I was outside I gnced to the right, expecting to see some evidence of our new huge bathroom. I thought at least the windows would be visible, but instead there was just ft bnk wall same as before. After staring at that for a second my eyes drifted downwards to inspect the deck I was standing on, while Jenna wandered off to the far left where the balcony reached the edge of the house.

"Oh hello there!" she called out as she waved to someone.

"Oh no," I grimaced as I hurried over to stand next to her so I could see who she was talking to.

Sure enough one of our neighbours was in his backyard, staring wide-eyed and sck-jawed at Jenna and I. An older man, possibly retired, was standing a good fifty meters away, with the railroad tracks separating his property from ours. From that vantage point he'd have been able to see the balcony appear, assuming he was looking in our direction at the time. Even if he didn't witness the magic, he'd have to know it wasn't there earlier.

My genie was smiling as she called to the guy again, "We're your new neighbours! I'm Jenna, this is my girlfriend Vikki! Nice to meet you!"

The poor man just nodded slowly as he continued to stare.

"Hello there," I called to him as I slipped an arm around Jenna's waist. "I'm sure we'll have a chance to talk again ter. We'd better get back inside, we're still unpacking. Bye for now!"

"But there's nothing to unpack," my girlfriend protested as I guided her back towards the door.

Once we were safely inside the bedroom I closed the sliding door then told her, "Maybe not for us, but that poor guy's probably got a lot to unpack. What if he saw the balcony appear? Even if he didn't see it happen he has to know it wasn't there before. What if he finds out about your magic? Isn't that dangerous?"

A thoughtful expression settled on her face as she frowned, "Oh, huh. Normally mortals don't notice my magic when I'm granting a wish, but I have no idea how that works when it's not wish-based."

"I guess we'll find out ter," she added with a shrug. Then she gave me another hopeful smile and asked, "Can we order pizza now?"

I was still worried about the neighbour, but forced myself not to let it get to me. Instead I asked, "Are you all done with the renovations? Don't you want to do anything with the basement?"

"Yeah I've got some fun pns for the lower level," she nodded, "But that can wait for another day, right? We don't have to do it all right now, do we?"

I smiled and shook my head, "Not at all. We can worry about the basement or any other renovations some other time."

"So it's pizza time now?" she asked again.

"Yeah," I nodded. "Let's order that pizza."

She fshed me a happy grin and excimed, "Yay!"
