Little Moments Along the Way: Snott

Today is a heavy day for us, and I wanted to share it with you.

For the past three months, we have been fostering two feral kittens. Slowly, patiently, they became a part of our lives — tiny, wild souls learning to trust. We named the brother Lord Beerus (yes, after the Dragon Ball character), and the little sister we lovingly called Snott, because during her first month with us, she was often sick, her tiny nose wet and sniffly.

Snott was the light of our home.

She was timid, scared, sometimes scratching us in panic mid-purr — a beautiful, confusing contradiction. But she was trying. She was learning. And so were we.

Today, we received heartbreaking news from the vet. After her desexing operation, Snott didn’t make it.

I don’t know what horrors she might have endured before she found her way to us that made her so terrified of humans, but despite it all, she had begun to trust. She had begun to love.

Tomorrow, we will bring only Lord Beerus home.

It feels strange, wrong even, to come home without her tiny presence, without the playful scratches she left on our hands — little marks of her journey toward trust.

  We will miss her terribly.

She was part of our family, however brief her time with us was. And somehow, it feels like she left a bigger space behind than such a small body should.

Thank you for letting me share this piece of our hearts with you.

Please send a thought, positive energy, or a prayer for little Snott, wherever she is now. She was, and always will be, deeply loved.
