Unexpected Encounter

Slowly but surely, I regained my consciousness. The ugly munera recurred in front of my eyes.

I didn't know what the f**k had actually happened. Just after my rise, I found myself at that stinky place again.

I thought to myself if what I saw was just a mere hallucination or some prophecy. I genuinely wanted to find out. After such a long time in my life, I felt intrigued to know the truth behind it.

But before that. How was I going to escape this match?

"I'm going, since I no longer have interest", wouldn't work here in a supposed-to-be deathmatch.

To begin with, I questioned whether it was truly worth it. Honestly, even if I had come to a different conclusion in my mind that day, my body still would not have listened to me.

With that in mind, I started dodging my opponent's jabs, which really pissed him off.

1,2 and 3. Three solid strikes were all it took to take him down. I admitted that despite him not being at the same level as me, he did show great resilience to have taken three.

The elderly referee abruptly screamed, "The match is over! David wins! Stop the match!". Such a gentle decision, despite all the blabbering about fair grounds for a supposed-to-be deathmatch, I thought, with a tired look.

His blows did seem to have an effect, but it was alright. I left the venue after collecting my cash prize and marched for the quest of truth.

My march began at around 12 o'clock at noon, and if I didn't have dyschronometria (lost time syndrome), the vision occurred at around 01:30 AM.

Also, the location was well known to me. Coincidentally, it was near the town where I went for my high schooling.

I rented out a boat from the cash I had received to entertain people by placing my life on the line. Also, I bought a crossbow for safety purposes.

In a way, I might have been looking for a place to d!e.

Anyways, I was too early at that time, so I dozed off a little bit. And in no time, I was in a deep sleep.

"CRAP!" I screamed just after opening my eyes. I panicked and looked at the time and relaxed myself, since a decent one hour was left.

I decided to call my father, and with a small wait.

  "Hello"

"Yes, hello. I'll not be coming home today, because of urgent work. Don't wait for me"

  "Okay"

  "Bye"

  "Bye"

  The line was cut off.

I wasn't on good terms with my father, or even most of the people I knew.

After which, I started my voyage to find a route to India! Modern-day Christopher Columbus!

After an hour or so, I reached the place around somewhat the right time.

And then, came the moment of truth.

I saw a completely calm and normal bank, with relaxing noises of the waters.

"There goes my rental money!!", just as I thought this,

I realised that I had come to the wrong place.

There were two identical banks in the town, and I mistook the other one for this, possibly.

With the engine at full throttle, I dashed towards the destination. "Will I reach there on time?", I thought with a concerned look.

Looking back, I was late every time at an important event. But this time, it was simply an accident.

And, I reached the location where all of it started.

I was shocked beyond my control. The vision turned out correct. Before I could move a muscle, the red croc. devoured the woman's flesh in a gulp.

And just then, as I averted my eyes to escape hell, I saw her... my high school batchmate, Scarlet.

This was when I realized the vision I saw was an experience of Scarlet.

According to the pattern of the story, the gator would sense her presence at any moment.

My body moved before my mind could, and I screamed her name at full energy and shot the gator with my crossbow simultaneously.

Engines were again on full throttle, I picked her up as safely as I could in such an instance, and we both were on deck. Unaware of the creature, which was following us with a rapid and creepy pace.

I shall not lie, at that moment, I was certain that I would not live to see the next day.

Scarlet and I, both were trembling with fear. Our survival instincts were at their peak. The boat's fuel was about to end. The speed had started diminishing...

I quickly told her to be ready for anything, and at the right time, I crashed the boat on the ground and we jumped off, to land on the soil.

We were too scared to look back, we simply ran and ran as far as we could, with all our energy.

Our breaths were over, and just when we thought this was it, that was when we looked back.

Not a single person we could see.

With a relaxed face, we all blended in the night street among the crowd. We sat on a nearby bench to calm our breaths.

I asked Scarlet, "Why were you there?", and not so surprisingly she had the same question for me.

And, that's how I told Scarlet about the vision I had, and all of the events.

For the time being, she believed me.

Long ago, Scarlet and I were good friends during high school. Though, as we grew up, some misunderstandings and clashes split the friendship and we ended up hating each other's guts.

Subsequently, my noon's wounds reopened, and I fell from the bench. And, I lost consciousness.
