“This wand was made for those whose talents lean towards mind magic. It’s slightly temperamental so your emotional state will impact the magic you cast.” Ollivander said as he peered at Keith who was now staring at his new wand.
Keith took out seven galleons from his bag and put them on the counter before he took out the wand he normally used until today.
He looked up at Ollivander and placed the wand on the counter, “How much will it cost to bring this wand back to new?”
Ollivander didn’t respond, but his eyes stared directly at the wand for a few whole seconds before he shook his head, “Red Oak paired with Dragon Heartstring, ten inches long and pretty rigid. I suppose this wand belongs to someone else?”
“I was told that it belonged to my mother…” Keith said as he looked up at Ollivander expectantly.
“I see…” the man said thoughtfully as he picked up the wand, “You resemble her in more than one way… Scarlet Smith or should I say Scarlet Black, after she married your father. Well unfortunately, I don’t think I should be doing a single thing to this wand of hers.”
He ran his finger along the wand, making it shoot out small sparks, “I can feel something inside it.”
And as he said this, the wand hummed with a silvery light as thick smoke was emitted. It flew towards Keith and pierced into his forehead without harming him even a single bit.
He felt a stinging pain in his head and immediately slapped his hand onto it instinctively as he heard screams, spells and cries. He found himself standing in front of a familiar looking house.
A tall man stood at the door as he carried something small in his arms. Keith walked forward and saw a baby in his arms, wrapped in soft fabric.
The door opened and Keith saw Andromeda standing with her hand covering her mouth as she stared at the man in front of her, completely ignoring Keith in the process.
“Kevin… just wha-” she whispered, but the man pushed the baby into her hands, “Please sister. Please take care of my son. I don’t have much time to live… but, my wife’s wish was to make sure our baby is safe no matter what.”

Andromeda looked down at the baby and then her gaze went back to Kevin, “Alright but-”
“I don’t have much time. They’ll come back for me soon, so I’ll have to leave early to distract them.” he cut her off and brought his wand close to Keith’s forehead, the tip touching. Then, he pulled it upwards as a silvery string came out along with it.
Then he whispered, his voice almost inaudible. Keith watched as the silvery string coiled around the wand and seeped into it.
“This should be fine for now… but there’s a limit to how long these memories can be locked in here. Ten to fifteen years should be enough time… I want him to have a normal childhood.” the man muttered as he gently pushed the wand into the baby’s arm.
Keith felt himself getting pulled backwards and dark black mist swirled around the house, blanketing both Andromeda and Kevin.
A slightly off-white wand lay on the floor in front of him. He panted heavily as he looked around to find himself in the wand store.
Susan Bones was beside him, looking terrified as watched droplets of sweat trickle down his face.
“I’m fine…” Keith muttered and got to his feet before he looked up at Ollivander, “My wand.”
“Here you go.” Ollivander nodded as he gave the wand back and watched the two kids leave his store together.
He stayed silent for a few seconds before his gaze shifted to the wands that were on the counter. Then, he sighed, “To think that there would be someone who would need more than one wand wood in their wands. Maybe I was wrong with my approach to wand making…”
A few meters from Ollivander’s wand store, Keith and Susan bones walked into the pet store.
“Which pet do you want to buy?” Keith asked as he followed her in.
“An owl. I know the owl emporium is the best place for owls but they mostly sell rare breeds. Even their regular owls cost higher.” she said as she looked around.
Keith nodded as he followed behind her. He grabbed the wand that was in his pocket and heard gibberish. Multiple voices overlapped, making the whole thing sound like a meaningless mess.
So, he focused his gaze on one single cat and sure enough, most of the gibberish was gone.
“Ah more humans that will worship me.”
Keith’s lips twitched in annoyance as he shifted his attention to the other creatures nearby, ‘Who in the hell would want a cat that thinks it’s some sort of god?’
He clicked his tongue as his footsteps got slower. One by one, he read the minds of the animals in the cages before stopping at an owl.
“Pick me pick me pick me pick me! I want to fly!” he heard it say.
It was a medium sized common owl found in Britain, one that was not special in any way. But Susan wanted a common one too.
“Hey Susan, maybe this owl will work for you?” he said as he pointed a the cage.
Susan looked at it and shrugged, “Yeah, any owl is fine as long as I can send letters to people.” she said and then smiled, “Well, it’s pretty cute so that’s a plus!”
Keith went back to browsing around but didn’t buy anything as he remembered about Tonk’s offer to get him a pet.
A few minutes later, the two of them left the place and headed over to the potions store to get their cauldrons and other items that were listed.
