"Kayalett I'm going to need an expnation very quickly." Arath demanded her armour appearing around her body while also avoiding the bags she currently had with what I presumed were our items to sell. "Preferably now before I make a mistake."
"Pretty horsy." I offered unhelpfully.
"He currently has has a rge quantity of my venom in his bloodstream right now I was about to give him my antivenom but it needed to be given directly into his main blood flow." Kayalett shook slightly at Araths tone.
"And why does he have your venom in the first pce?"
Kayalett froze her mouth not being able to form the words she needed.
"Poison ressssustance." I tried to get out thinking I'd done a pretty good job.
That seemed to give the arachne enough to respond. "He wanted to see if he could complete the poison resistance requirements by experiencing my venom."
"And why did you have your teeth by his neck?" Arath was almost within arm's reach at this point and even my drunk brain could feel the slow burning fury inside her eyes.
Kayalett wilted even more. "Because I need to apply my antivenom in a major blood vessel to speed up the process of his recovery."
"Kayyyya. Katttu. Kaffff." I tried to say as my world started to spin a little bit faster. "Spidey wife was good wife. She help." I think that was about as good as I could get out considering my current condition.
Araths gaze slightly melted but there was still a hard edge. "Can you not just heal him?"
"No. It would clear the effects but wouldn't stop them coming back with the venom in his blood. I need to neutralize it first." Kayalett tried to reason with my head mare. It was working somewhat but Arath still kept her armour on.
"Then please. Cure him."
Kayalett nodded and brought up my wrist to her mouth, forgoing my neck under Araths stare. I didn't feeling anything but that might have been because I was now seeing two of everything.
"Hehe two spidys." Again very unhelpful in this situation but I couldn't do much of anything else.
A chill ran though my arm and I felt the effects instantly. My vision settled and the cloud over my mind evaporated like it was never there.
"Wow thash some impreshive stuff." Okay not quite all better as my tongue still felt like cotton but a lot better than before, and to top it all off it did give me poison resistance as a skill I could buy.
Poison resistance 1 acquired.
Definitely worth the skill point and if I could persuade the girls that this was a beneficial thing to do in the future I could get those two skills very high without any danger.
Acid resistance 2 acquired.
See already working.
"He should be recovered for the most part." My arachne said releasing me from her grip.
I took a step before my legs gave up and I fell face forward into Araths chest. Still as soft as I remember.
"Are you okay husband?" Arath asked taking ahold of my body. I was unfortunately pulled from my soft protectors but my wife's face was just as beautiful.
"I need more legs. Would I be more attractive to you if I was a centaur?" I was surprised by my own words as normally I'd be happy as I am but I guess my tongue is a little looser at the moment.
"Of course not my husband. You are perfect just the way you are." Arath brought her lips closer to my ear but still spoke loud enough for Kayalett to hear. "You are more than big enough to please me my love, I like that you're human."
She smelt like vanil, so sweet and intoxicating. I just wanted to slip my arms around her and strip that shirt off so I could show her how I really feel.
The door opened and a stallion came through taking a quick look at us but decided it wasn't his business and started to browse the other side of the store. Almost forgot this was still an active shop not out private house.
"Do you mind if I take him out back Kayalett while you run your shop?" Arath asked the hard edge to her voice almost gone but still had a few dregs as she wouldn't meet my new spider wifes eyes.
"Of course you are more than welcome." Kayalett hesitated at the end presumably to try and remember if there was a specific way she needed to address Arath as her new head mare.
Instead Arath just picked me up bridal style and carried my still recovering drunken self behind the counter where Kayaletts living space occupied.
I wonder how strong I'd have to be to carry her like this. Would it even work? If I had her horse half upside down in my arms I might be able to pull it off if she bent her human half towards me. I'd need a few more points in the Paragon strength skill just so I could support her weight but I'm sure I could pull it off.
"Hey husband."
My inner rambling distracted me from where we were going. We were now in a very rge open concept room with lots of silk spun around connected to the walls in ways I couldn't wrap my head around. In all seriousness I probably wouldn't be able to understand Kayaletts method even if I wasn't drunk.
"Are you really okay?" She was so concerned.
"Yessh." Still got a little cotton tongue.
"Was it really your idea? And please don't try and protect her. I need to know as your head mare and for my own sanity." My head mare was so quiet, almost afraid.
I tried to stand and was decently successful on my own two feet and looked Arath in the eye. She'd kneeled down with her belly touching the ground, it actually brought us to the same height. "Ith wassh." I stopped talking trying to get some saliva into my mouth.
"It was my idea Asth." Names were still a little too hard. "I haff a skill that gash." Okay how do people get dates when their drunk off their mind this is hard.
"Let me my love." Her hands glowed green and my mouth cleared. I so wanted to make a y on hands joke from DND but having to expin it would ruin the joke. Wait how close is this worlds Padins to the ones I know from my world, because I was thinking she was a tank but if she can heal as well as get a smite type skill she's got the best Of both worlds. Not to mention the armour she summons because that's not a skill I know anything about.
"That feels better thank you." My wrist still looked like it was being eaten by her acid but I was no longer feeling drunk. "It really was my idea beautiful. I just wanted the skills."
"But you need to get stronger my love. Not waste the small amount of skill points you have on these resistance skills especially with Kayalett being a healer. I panicked when I saw you like that. I spent all my skill points thinking I was going to have to kill Kayalett and heal you."
There were tears brimming in her eyes. I guess I didn't give that a thought about her when I asked to be poisoned. Stupid.
"Hey I'm sorry. I made a stupid mistake." I hugged her tightly pulling her head into my chest this time.
"No you didn't. It was a good idea to at least increase your options I'm just mad you didn't talk to me first. Seeing you like that. I thought I'd lost you."
Yeah now I felt like crap. I was a little impulsive I'll admit, too focused on improving.
"Next time I'll ask you first I promise."
We stayed like that for a bit of time before Arath regained her composure. My usually happy head mare had red puffy eyes but managed to smile as she untangled herself from my embrace.
"Was it worth it at least?"
I need to come clean don't I? I can't just say yes and be done I need Arath to agree that we should do it again, under her supervision of course.
"I need to tell you something but you have to promise not to tell anyone else."
She gave me a curious look but nodded.
"I possess two very unique skills." I lowered my voice even though we were alone. "One allows me to have a chance at acquiring a skill without skill points once I've completed the requirements and the other allows me to level up a skill through use, without the use of skill points at all."
Araths eyes were wide in suprise, her mouth trying to form words that just wouldn't come. I continued just so there was no room for doubt.
"I gained the centaur riding skill when you put me on your back willingly and it is now level five even though I haven't spent a single point on it."
She blushed at the memory but still looked at me with suprise. That was until a very sly smile broke through.
"Is this skill that levels up your others a Paragon skill?"
Confused slightly I responded. "No."
"So Rayna won't have it?"
Now I saw where she was going. "No she will not."
"Good. Because we needed an advantage over her if we want her in our family."
I will fully admit to myself and no one else, I think Arath wants Rayna way more than I do at this point in time.
Taking a chance I asked Arath about my pn. "So you would be okay with me doing this again to increase my resistance to acid and poison?"
She flinched but agreed. "Yes it would be for the best. But not without me present are we clear?"
"Crystal."
"Good. Now onto better topics now that you're not dying I have a lot to sell at the market, did you invite Kayalett yet?"
I was about to reply when my presence detection told me the spider in question was coming through the door.
Presence detection 4 acquired.
That skill was really hard to level up considering it was always active.
"Well Kayalett do you want to join us?" I asked the door before she could even come through.
I got an odd look from my head mare but that disappeared when the arachne in question opened it and came through.
"I would like to. If I'm allowed."
It wasn't a question but she was still asking for permission from Arath who was now giving me a look that said I would be expining how I did that ter.
With a sigh Arath turned to Kayalett. "Of course you can join us and before you ask you are still my friend. I'm just a little annoyed my husband or our husband now put himself in a dangerous position without my knowledge. Next time, and there will be a next time." She gave us both stern looks like we were children just caught with our hands in the cookie jar and too be fair it was definitely deserved. "We do it together."
She really is understanding. I don't know if I should hug her or celebrate. Although if she pns on increasing my resistances tonight it's going to have to wait till after I've persuaded Kayalett to tie her up for some fun time. Not that I'd bring that up now. I did value my life in this situation.
"Of course Arath. I'm sorry I didn't think about it before."
"You are forgiven. Now let's go show our husband the market."
Without a choice I was pulled into my normal spot on Araths back this time having to find some room in amongst all the bags she was wearing and taken out into the street. Kayalett followed locking her shop and putting up a closed sign. Or I hoped it was. Dam my inability to read. And we set off in the direction of the markets.
An interesting start to my day that's for sure.
