"No I am not." I spat back making sure Arath was beside me. She was and had the look only a pissed of wife can pull off.

Another harpy stood beside my kidnapper seeming to not understand why the sudden hostility. Kayalett likewise gave us a confused look.

Arath decided to clear things up. "You have some tits on you if you think you can just walk up to us after you almost killed Lazarus."

Kayalett let out a gasp putting two and two together. "You broke his ribs and gouged his shoulders with your talons. You can't really expect to not be treated like this?"

The harpy look on nonchantly. "It's common for harpies to kidnap mates. He shouldn't have tried to escape if he didn't want to be injured."

That got Arath to react and only by pure chance was I able to stop her charging at the harpy by putting my body in front of her. She still managed to push me forward and it reminded me of the difference in strength between our species even with my skills.

"Arath we're in public." I quietly scolded her, trying to tell both her and myself as I so wanted to rip the harpies head off just not here. She growled under her breath but took a step back.

Smartly the harpy had done the same and her friend was now in front of our stall. "Sorry to intrude, we were hoping to meet the human that appeared in the centaur vilge to ask...."

"Stop!" I interrupted. "Do not ask for anything right now because you will not like the answer." I so wanted to snap that little harpies neck right now and it was taking all of my self control to just talk. "Your friend almost killed me and you think I will do something you ask?"

She tried to talk but I interrupted again.

"It was a trick question. Just walk away, it is the best chance you have of me listening to you next time. So long as she isn't with you."

She tried to speak again but Kayalett interrupted this time.

"Harpy do not take the good grace my husband has given you and throw it away. You have no friends here and if you're going to ask what I think you are, then I suggest you familiarise yourself with centaur culture." My arachnes arms weaved through the air and I could bearly make out the threads between them. "Because if you choose violence to get what you want instead. I will personally make sure your entire roost suffers." The edges of the harpies wing feathers broke and fell to the ground with no warning and Kayalett brought her arms back to her sides.

  "Are we clear?"

  The harpy nodded shakely.

"Good. Now take your friend before I aim for something more vital."

I'll admit I didn't see Kayalett do anything apart from wave her arms slightly before she did that. Is Arath sure she's just a healer? And here I was thinking I had the stealth attacking build.

The harpy mumbled an apology and made a hasty retreat pulling the other harpy with her. There was a brief second when our eyes met and I went through all the ways I would kill her in my mind. Maybe I was turning a little evil.

"Good grief." Kayalett scowled turning back to the two of us. "Oh come on you two don't let that feathered whore ruin your day, we still have stuff to sell."

She was right of course and a gave myself a second to screw my head back on straight before patting Araths rump. "We'll deal with this another time my love. Preferably in a quiet pce with no witnesses."

She gave me a nod to show she had heard me and put on a smile.

"Thank you Kayalett, that might have turned out a little unfortunate if you hadn't stepped in."

My arachne had of course noticed our little whisper but chose not to mention it. She gave us both a look that said this wasn't over and the promise of violence in her eyes showed what side she was on. I got very lucky with my wife's didn't I?

Even with that exciting encounter we we still in the middle of the market trying to sell stuff, so I put all my experience at customer service into action to pretend a part of my life isn't burning to try and make someone's day a little better.

We had garnered some attention but that only caused more customers to come stop by. A lot of the none centaur creatures were just using the excuse they were browsing to get up close and personal with the human, and when Kayalett noticed this I was directed to speak with whoever was buying something. This resulted in a lot of things being sold that people didn't need and by the time the sun was reaching its apex Arath had sold everything that wasn't designed specifically for centaurs. Kayalett however seemed to have an endless supply of potions in whatever storage skill she possessed and I was going to find out how to get my hands on it at some point.

Throughout the whole day the harpy that had kidnapped me kept to the shadows watching as if she somehow thought I couldn't see her. Arath had noticed and it was part of the reason we decided to pack up earlier than initially expected.

I bade farewell to a lovely pair of cat girls that had bought a potion to help with their heat period after some extensive expining that I was not avaible for that service. Arath did make note of their jobs when asked what they did so there was a maybe in the future. I did have to bite my tongue when they offered to give there possessions as per centaur tradition. I will fully admit to only myself I wanted to see them strip. It's a fantasy of most men to have a cat girl naked in front of them and I'm not different.

Arath politely declined by saying they needed to wear them all day first and that they had to offer items based on their jobs as well. That got them to promise to visit in the future so I'll take that.

We were almost finished packing up when Kayalett spoke. "Husband do you mind sating my curiosity?"

"Go for it." I replied back putting the st item we didn't sell back on Araths back. We'd done well only having two of the centaur dresses remaining.

"Is there a type you don't like?" Arath seemed to be curious about my answer as well judging by the look she gave me.

  "Type of what?

"Mate. You seem to like centaurs and arachne, I was just wondering if there was a type you wouldn't want in your herd."

That was a good question actually. I wouldn't really say no to anything I guess.

"I'm down to try everything once so not really."

Arath gave me a smile that very quickly turned into a smirk. "So you would try a stallion?"

I gred in return giving her rump a smack. "I will try most things once."

The girls snickered to each other and I had to give it to her for that one.

The harpy was still watching us like she couldn't be seen and I tried to ignore her for the most part but a nagging feeling in the back of my mind caused me to keep her in my vision at all times. It's the first time I'd felt something like this since coming to this new world and I may have gotten a little soft but I wasn't about to ignore instincts that had kept me alive.

We made our way back out of the markets stopping quickly to hand in our wooden boards to the same pce we got them before entering the town proper. I lost track of the harpy once we exited the building but that feeling in the back of my mind persisted.

Reflexively I tried to grab for a sword that wasn't on my hip cursing myself when I caught up to what I'd just done. We were in the centre of the centaur vilge she wasn't stupid enough to try anything here was she?

Arath and Kayalett seemed to be lost in their own conversation, neither paying too much attention. Was I just being paranoid?

I focused on my presence detection skill and even though the range was closer to two metres it didn't tell me anything I didn't already know. Maybe....

  "Lazarus hi."

I was broken from my musing by none other than Zemelly the white mare from the council. She was in a beautiful bck centaur version of a sundress that drew my eye to her chest. It really highlighted her pure white fur and hair. She was actually surprisingly pretty although now that I think of it there was a lot distracting me from actually taking a good look at her st time we met.

She had the bckest eyes that seemed to match her outfit to the point it almost looked like she wanted to be a goth but nature decided to give her the brightest body possible. Her lips where the normal cherry red I would expect but if lipstick were a thing it wouldn't surprise me if I saw her wearing it, but the thing that surprised me the most was just how young she looked. I'd thought she was a little on the older side of centaur lifespan but she looked to be a little younger than Arath. Granted I'd never asked for my mates age because I'd learnt the hard way it was a loaded question but to think someone on the council was younger was a bit of a surprise.

"Umm hi." I responded back still in a bit of shock at the revetion.

"I was hoping to catch you sometime today and as luck would have it here you are." She was very chipper as she handed Arath a bag. I didn't fail to notice the bck bra subtly pced to top where it would definitely be noticed by us.

Bringing herself in close she whispered into Araths ear loud enough for me to hear as well. "You will need a priestess at some point to help him on his journey. I would like to put my name down now so I can assist his growth, and Arath if he accepts me and I can have a proper mate I will submit to you in all forms of the word."

  She knew.

  How did she know?

I was blindsided by the revetion and at that opportunity my presence detection pinged an intruder who grabbed me and quickly pulled me into the air. I tried to grab hold of a strap or something before I got too far but I wasn't fast enough.

The look of horror on my wife's face as she grew smaller was burnt into my mind.
