Chapter 34

The duo of scorpion and lizard made their way around the Dungeon, with everything in detail being explained and showed to Bob. They travelled from the desert region, and entered a vast grassland, where the majority of the wolf monsters lived, before they eventually left there and entered an enormous forest.

They regularly came across different monsters, with each one of them patrolling and looking for the Human intruder that did not even exist. Upon seeing the Assassin Scorpion, they were very cordial and respectful, with the monster seemingly holding a high standing within the Dungeon. Thankfully though, his intelligence is rather lacking.

The monsters they did see were all low class ones, and so were not aware of the threat that Bob represented to them.

After an entire day of travelling, Bob and the scorpion stopped for a rest at the top of a large cliff, with a beautiful lake sitting at its bottom. The cool wind blew against their bodies, with the sun still sitting high in the sky.

Bob now understood the time displacement, with a day outside the Dungeon, taking four days to complete inside the Dungeon. Adding onto that, Bob now also understood the geography and the ecology of the Dungeon.

The Dungeon was extremely vast, with several different biomes and specific monsters, best suited to them. All of the monsters used to be in small conflicts and territorial disputes, but when the Dungeon Break occurred, they all fell in line under the strongest.

The Dungeon was shaped in a perfect circle, with each biome taking up a slice, and the central part of the circle also being its own biome. The central portion was where the strongest monsters lived, with the Devil Wolf of Pride's palace also being there.

Now Bob understood it all, he also understood the immensity of the challenge he faced.

He needed to end the threat the Dungeon faced.

He needed to kill this hive of his natural enemy.

He needed to increase his strength or otherwise, he would just be serving himself up on a platter for slaughter.

Underneath Bob, the scorpion monster rested its aching legs, with its eyes staring below at the lake and its succulent fish. Tearing his eyes away from the moving food, the Assassin Scorpion looked dead ahead with an often seen look of seriousness. He then began to speak as much to himself, as to Bob.

"I used to believe this Dungeon was my entire world. It has everything, different climates, food, water and a place to call my own. But, I can see the entire Dungeon in a single day with my speed....What kind of world takes a day to run around?...In the future when that disgusting radiation is gone, I'll be able to take my rightful place in the Human world! A proper world of a scale and magnitude I can't even imagine.....All I'll have to do is slaughter the Humans, then keep the survivors in a farm to breed them as food.....The future is bright Bob, and I can't wait to take that final step...Keurghhh.........."

If the Assassin Scorpion had made that solemn pledge, that declaration and heartfelt wish in the presence of any other monster in the Dungeon, all would be well. But, the one monster he chose to say it in front of, was the one he definitely could not risk doing.

After he spoke his final word, the silence lingered on, but the scorpion did not mind, in fact he was not even aware. His eyes gradually went dim, the life in them fading into oblivion, but with a single thought left on his mind. An unanswered question he would take to the afterlife.

  Why!?.........

Bob flexed the muscles on his arm, with a jerking motion he pulled his spear from out of the Assassin Scorpions head. A gaping hole was left, with black blood oozing out momentarily before it stopped. Bob flicked his spear, with the black blood flying off its point. A strange gaseous substance circled around the spearpoint, with it seemingly being alive as it caressed the blade.

When Bob's spear was slammed into the monsters head, it had no awareness of it happening, with its first sign of worry being when its mind was cut off from his body and its Soul was leaving its body. The spear had ploughed into the centre of the brain, destroying its brain stem in the process, then the swirling black gas did its part.

  The element of Death.

With Bob becoming stronger, he understood his necromantic abilities had also improved. Although the amount of Death energy he can create and manipulate is small, when used in the correct way, it can be extremely lethal. Like for instance being injected directly into a persons brain.

This injection of Death energy had an added effect other than just being deadly. It primed the victim when used correctly, primed them for resurrection. Typically Bob could only turn a very small number of creatures into his servants, and was also limited on the servants strength, but now that had increased.

With priming the target at the point of death, it enables a stronger target to be resurrected, whereas without it, he would not have had enough strength to do so.

What started off as a small ball of death energy within the scorpions brain, changed to a raging sphere that was noticeably darker and denser. The Death energy span and swirled, before exploding outwards and rushing through the scorpions body in all directions.

The dead eyes that held no sheen, subtly changed, turning a darker shade of black with a tint of purple. Then as if signifying the resurrection was complete, the Assassin Scorpion tipped forwards, bowing its head to the ground in submission, before standing straight again.

Bob examined his handiwork, satisfied that it was a success, he spoke to his newest undead minion.

"I gave you a painless death, and you never saw it coming. That's a grace I won't extend to the other inhabitants of this Dungeon......Now then little scorpion, you need a name. Mr Squeeks and Mr Crocs each have a title because I gave them consciousness. But you are a perfect puppet, so a simple name will suffice....From now on you are known as Scorps"

Bob focused his gaze and concentrated his senses all around, focusing on the lake below and its surrounding lands. It was not long until a smile crept across his face.

"It seems like I've found the first target for annihilation, and it's perfect. It's actually the race that is in direct confrontation to the Lizardmen as well. Lucky!....Lets go Scorps, time to slay some Frogmen".

If you discover this narrative on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the violation.

In the space of two hours, the entire Frogmen population had been decimated. The Frogmen race used to be in disunion, but after the Dungeon Break occurred, the loose tribes unified, creating a mega tribe. Their race had made the area of the lake as their home, with a clear boundary between the lower and higher classes.

The Frogmen were physically as their name suggests, a cross between frog and man. They stood upright with the physicality of a frog, but mostly the mannerisms of a man. They were rather similar to Lizardmen in that regard, right down to their lack of clothes.

Coming in shades of green and blue, they had large black eyes, with translucent fins on their heads, and webbed hands and feet.

Their homes mostly existed within the forest, that they had turned into marsh land with the help of their abilities. That was only for the weaker ones of their race, while the leaders and further evolved Frogmen lived under the waters surface.

The pair of lizard and scorpion split up, with the undead Assassin Scorpion going on a perfectly silent killing spree. With its ability to camouflage with its surroundings, it was not spotted until the last moment, that being when their head left their body.

Bob on the other hand, dove into the water and began slaying every living thing he saw. The clear blue water steadily turned a bright shade of red, with an ominous aura hanging over the lake.

Bob was perfectly suited for the water and swam with ease. The second he identified a prey, his powerful tail propelled him forwards like a missile, with his sharp claws ripping apart the Frogman. It did not matter the strength of the Frogmen, nor what weapon they wielded, they all died regardless.

When Bop approached the last group of Frogmen, they had holed up in a large underwater cave. Gliding through the red liquid, the taste of iron was extremely potent on the tongue. With a splash he dove up out of the water, landing in an underwater cave where the survivors had retreated back to.

Bob also came across an unexpected find. At the very rear of the cave, a large amount of Frogmen eggs were situated, with a specific one glowing with a golden shine.

Five Frogmen warriors stood at guard, with each holding a spear and aiming them at Bob's face. Behind the guards, a solitary female Frogman stood, but instead of the usual array of either blue or green coloured skin, this one had a dull golden colour.

The female Frogman spoke up, snapping Bob out of his surprise at seeing the eggs.

"Do you have to do this Lizardman!? Can you at least leave our offspring?...Even so our races are opposed, we have never once raised our weapons against your kind, nor have we ever even met any!"

Bob had retrieved his spear from his back, deciding to use the Frogmen and their spears as good weapon practice. Looking at the female Frogman, Bob replied.

"This is also my first time meeting your kind. I came from outside of your Dungeon, I also plan on living amongst the Humans.....Now let me ask you, your aim, that of your entire Dungeon and your alinement's, it is to eradicate the Humans....No, or yes?....Actually, you don't need to answer that question, it is obvious as to what your answer is..........There is another point, I plan to slaughter this entire Dungeon......You know what will happen to your Dungeon after that has happened, don't you?"

The female Frogman was at her wits end by that point, she understood Bob's words fully and their implications. With bloodshot eyes and a look of panic that did not belong to their race, she tried one last time.

"Then take her!...Please just take my offspring! She will be good if you teach her!"

Bob closed his eyes lightly and shook his head. He did not mind killing, even if the monster was a child. Violence was ingrained in his genes, as it was for every monster.

Bob had not batted an eyelid at the slaughter he had dished out. Not a tinge of sympathy was elicited as he struck down young and old alike.

But now.......He understood this was his weakness. He had not experienced this before. To have a mother begging earnestly for her child to be spared. Bob was wholeheartedly surprised at his own feelings upon witnessing it. He knew dragging it out any longer would only bring complications.

So, he slightly changed his plan and replied with actions.

With a wide sweep of his spear, the surprise action without any warning signs, easily blind-sided the monsters. Bob's spear swept their feet out from under them, with each of them falling in the same manner. Without giving them chance to reorganise themselves, or even land their feet back on the floor, Bob attacked again.

The spear swept back past again, only this time with a noticeable amount of more power, and now aimed for their heads.

  Pop!

  Pop!

  Pop!

  Pop!

  Pop!

A series of pops sounded out, with the Frogmen's exploding heads accompanying each sound. The blood and brain matter splashed all about, with a sizeable amount coating the last remaining Frogman from head to toe.

The queen of the Frogmen now had no subjects, only their remnants coating her body.

Bob did not waste anymore time, not wanting to terrorise her any longer. With a simple spear thrust, the blade point entered her throat and exited the back of her neck, killing her instantly.

Withdrawing his spear, her punctured neck no longer had the strength to hold her head up. With the disgusting sound of flesh tearing, her head fell from her shoulders and rolled to Bob's feet, leaving her body stood erect for several seconds before it fell.

Claiming the head, Bob opened his jaws wide and clamped them around it. With some moderate exertion from his jaw, her skull cracked and broke into pieces. Bob turned his head to the side in disgust and spat out the skull fragments, leaving an exposed and loose brain within her skull.

Holding it in his left hand, Bob walked to the group of Frogmen spawn and eyed up the golden coloured one. Reaching his right hand out, he scooped up the jelly like substance. The jelly itself was a mixture of green and blues, with a similar coloured tadpole inside, only with it having a noticeable golden sheen to it. Depending on how it caught the light, the golden sheen lit up the jelly that encased it, making it shine bright like a torch.

Bob wasted no more time, holding the skull above his head, he tipped it upside down and emptied the brain straight into his open mouth. Discarding the useless skull, he then poured the Frogman spawn into his mouth and chewed the both together.

A wet smacking sound was heard throughout the cave, before an audible gulp, and a sigh finished it off.

  "Ahhhh....Thank you for the meal"

Bob did not move for a moment, as if he was waiting for something. The moment he felt it approach, he quickly sat cross-legged on the ground. His eyes started to shine brightly, before a glow could be seen escaping from under his scales, before his entire body was hardly visible from the light.

Bob clenched his jaw shut, waiting for a wave of pain or nausea, but to his surprise it never came. The light subsided as quickly as it appeared. Bob held out his palm and summoned his Necromancer power, with Death energy swirling around his hand in a gaseous form.

  "Hmmm, no change here"

Bob flicked his hand, sending the death energy into the remaining Frogmen spawn, and ending their fledgling life. With that simple flick of his hand though, he noticed something.

Clenching his hand into a fist, he tensed his muscles and threw out a punch. Even so it was a simple punch from a seated position, the sound of a sharp crack could be heard, with the air distorting at the point of the punch.

With a smile on his face, Bob flicked his tail on the ground, sending his body into the air and landing back on his feet. Without turning to look at his handiwork, he left the cave, now devoid of all life.

Bob dove out of the water with a splash, landing deftly on the shore of the lake. His newest subordinate, Scorps, was waiting patiently for him, with its body caked in blood and gore. Two Frogmen's bodies had been pierced fully by his tail, and had slid down its length, becoming grisly trophies, or macabre doughnuts.

Bob could not help but let out a chuckle when he saw Scorps, even more so when he saw that vicious tail that was actually wagging like a dog.

"Ha Ha. Looks like you had fun Scorps. Go and clean up and we'll get going to the next place.......Ermm, it's a large tribe of Stone Goblins I think you said. You can dig us in while we go rampant in their tunnels. Completely exterminating every one maybe difficult, but as long as we kill enough, that'll trigger a Dungeon collapse when the time comes".
