After getting teased to oblivion by my sister throughout the afternoon it was finally time to head back into the virtual survivalist world of Kyoryu Online.

  It was 4:45 pm, and I headed upstairs to the bedroom Akane and I shared. I prepared the VR Headset and the console itself.

  I strapped the headset on, y down on the bottom side of our bunk bed, selected the game, and then… my consciousness left my body and into the game.

  Upon opening my eyes, I was inside the room that my friends and I bought as our “guild room” in the inn.

  “It has been a while…” I thought as I tried to get my bearings.

  I looked and walked around the room for a bit and practiced my basic movements refamiliarizing myself with the user interface to see if my muscle memory could still be relied on.

  I continued practicing for 8 minutes, so when I was finally ready, I could now confidently say that I still got it.

  “Hm…”

  I still had 7 minutes until Senko arrived, I checked some patch notes and noticed that Version 1.2 will be released soon. Rumors said that patch 1.2 will be adding a new magic/elemental system and patch 1.3 will add mythological creatures like dragons.

  “I guess the game sold well that the new patches are getting ambitious.”

  I paced myself around the room for a while and looked at the mirror to look at my avatar who really did look exactly like how I was in real life.

  “Oh, you’re already here.” I heard Senko log in and appeared behind me.

  “I didn’t want to waste your time and be te.”

  “It’s fine, though I’am curious about what we will be doing since it’s just the two of us here.”

  “The patch notes said something about “better night cycles” and “perfected atmosphere.” so we should try camping out of town,” I suggested while checking my inventory.

  “I’m down for it, let’s prepare some supplies though.”

  “Yeah, or else we're doomed.”

  We shared a ugh and headed to town to buy several supplies that included, food, water, medicine, and extra gear and equipment.

  Senko and I went past both “Gentle Expanse” and “Meadow Mosaic” and headed to “Golden Lizard Covert,” This area was quite far from Meadow Mosaic being at least 3 to 4 kilometers from each other.

  Senko and I explored the vast pins from Meadow Mosaic up to the lush forests of Golden Lizard Covert.

  Despite pnning to camp out around the forest area, we agreed to have our campsite be around 20 to 50 meters from the forest itself for safety reasons because we were unfamiliar with what dinosaurs or other fauna we might encounter in the forest.

  “It’s kinda fun being out in the wilderness together huh?” Senko excimed while setting up a rge tent for the both of us.

  “It is, the windy pins between the forest and here are very soothing on the skin.” I agreed while preparing our campfire using a magnifying gss.

  Upon noticing the sun was closely setting, Senko hurriedly prepared a few chests, a med kit and emergency fres near our campfire and tent.

  The campsite we had was fairly close to the forest, there was tall grass in patches and tall trees spread out erratically.

  After a while, It was finally dusk, and the sun was close to down.

  “Hey.”

  “Yes, Yuuki?”

  “Do you think we have enough firewood?” I asked while looking at the campfire that seemed to be going down slowly.

  “Did they make campfires and torches slowly go out in the update? Or was this just for ambience effect” I focused my scan on the campfire.

  “I didn't check, but if they did then one of us might have to go get some firewood then.”

  “I call dibs on not going out.” Senko immediately responded.

  “What a coward.”

  “I just have self-preservation.”

  “Fine… I'll go get them myself, stay here and keep a keen eye on our belongings, and try not to lure any dinosaurs near here okay?”

  I slowly walked into the thick forests bringing a torch with me.

  “What dinosaurs? We haven't spotted much in this area.” Senko compined as he leaned back on a rge rock.

  Now that he mentioned it we hadn't encountered that many dinosaurs around this area, we only spotted a few species like Gallimimus, Pachycepalosaurus, and sauropods like Mamenchinosaurus and Brachiosaurus.

  Was this pce just not poputed for dinosaurs to thrive? That can't be it! The area has a lot of old logs, tall coconut trees, fruit-bearing bushes, and a mix of oak and redwood trees!

  There's absolutely no reason for this pce to not have that many dinosaurs!

  Now that I was thinking about it, I started to walk a bit faster, gathering sticks and leaves for the campfire.

  “Jeez it's way too dark here…” I thought while scanning the pce.

  The trees were completely blocking out the skies, meaning the moonlight couldn't shine for me.

  “Okay okay, calm down.” I quickly started reassuring myself that this pce was empty.

  I gathered several more wood logs and sticks and pced them in my inventory.

  “This should be enough.”

  While preparing to go back I noticed that I couldn't see much past 15 meters, and there seemed to be a small hazy fog that was engulfing the forest.

  Mind you, I was holding a torch in one of my hands, so the fact it wasn't showing much light is what concerned me.

  “Jeez, couldn't have done this when there was still dayligh-” I suddenly got cut off when I heard something running behind me.

  I quickly turned around, pced a pair of torches beside me, and quickly pulled out my long sword.

  “Who's there?” I spoke loudly.

  I quickly heard a twig snap behind me to which I quickly pulled my handgun and shot behind me to make whatever was behind me back off.

  “......” I gripped my long sword tightly. When I heard some kind of animal noise.

  The noise was very hasty and a bit loud.

  “I'm not alone here, Senko if that's you I won't hesitate to shoot a bullet in your skull!” I threw 3 torches in front and behind me.

  The noise got creepier, it felt like I could die at any moment, I sent Senko a message in the cn chat and told him to scan if I was near him, and he responded “No.”

  “Shit….”

  I could feel my entire body tremble from whatever was making that noise. When suddenly… I saw glowing blue eyes around the distance.

  “There you are.” I threw another torch and what walked out was a theropod.

  The torch shined and there was a bipedal dinosaur with two crests on its head. It looked hunched until it raised its body to stand still.

  “It's one of those guys…”

  The creature stood for what seemed like 5.9 to 6.3 feet tall.

  “A dilophosaurus.”

  The creature walked closer making light chirping sounds.

  It was 7 meters away from me and I quickly kept my guard up, because this was a dinosaur I wanted nothing to do with due to how deadly they are!
