Chapter 5 : Final Message

“Agent Luna here. Agent Ita, have you investigated it yet?” Luna asked Agent Ita. She was the one who had informed Luna about the conspiracy between Natasya and Victor. Luna had also asked her to dig deeper into their relationship.

“Agent Luna, Miss Natasya and Mr. Victor are lovers. That’s why they’re planning to merge the organizations they lead. And because of that, they need to eliminate you and Agent Irkhan—you're the biggest obstacles to this merger,” Agent Ita explained.

Irkhan and Luna looked at each other. Another thing they had failed to predict—Natasya and Victor's relationship. They had assumed the two were just partners with a shared grudge, but it turned out their bond went deeper.

“Totally unexpected,” Irkhan muttered. Luna simply nodded in agreement.

“Agent Luna, I have urgent news you need to hear,” Agent Ita said, her voice tense.

“What is it?” Luna asked, with Irkhan listening closely as well.

“Mr. Victor is furious he couldn’t find Agent Irkhan. He’s ordered the island to be blown up,” Agent Ita revealed.

“What?!” Irkhan and Luna shouted in near unison.

This was insane—Victor planned to turn the island into Irkhan’s grave. His hatred clearly ran deep for him to go this far.

“Yes, Agent Luna. Right now, they’re planting explosives all over the island to make sure it sinks completely. What should I do, Agent Luna? If this continues, you and Agent Irkhan will die here.” Agent Ita’s voice trembled, her sobs audible. She deeply respected Agent Luna, who had once trained and protected her within the Organization. Ita wanted to help, but she knew she couldn’t take on two major organizations by herself.

Luna and Irkhan fell silent. The quiet stretched as they processed everything. Then Irkhan took the walkie-talkie from Luna’s hand and said,

“Agent Ita, this is Agent Irkhan. Could you record and deliver a final message from me to Agent Jovi?” Luna looked at Irkhan. He had decided to die here. And she saw no fear or hesitation in his expression.

“Of course, Agent Irkhan.” Agent Ita immediately activated her phone’s recorder.

  “The recording’s ready,” she added.

“Agent Jovi, this is my final message. Agent Luna and I have been betrayed by our own Organization. Victor and Natasya plan to kill us by blowing up this island. I have no intention of escaping—I’m too injured. So I leave all my belongings to you, Agent Jovi. Please also take care of the orphanage I used to live in. Don’t seek revenge for my death. If the Organization strays further, just walk away. Live a peaceful life and make your little family happy. It’s been an honor knowing you in this life, my student.”

Agent Irkhan’s final words—his will—were now passed on to Agent Jovi, his only student. With his affairs settled, Irkhan was ready to die in peace. He handed the walkie-talkie back to Luna. The next move was hers—fight to escape, or accept her fate.

Luna stared at the walkie-talkie, then at Irkhan, who was looking at her with a sincere smile for the first time since they met. She froze. A sharp pain stabbed her head, nearly causing her to collapse backward. Luckily, Irkhan caught her just in time and kept her from hitting the cave wall.

“Luna... Luna… what’s happening to you?” Irkhan asked anxiously. He laid her down, resting her head on his lap.

“Agent Irkhan, what’s going on with Agent Luna?” Agent Ita asked.

Irkhan picked up the walkie-talkie Luna had dropped.

“I don’t know either. She suddenly felt a sharp pain in her head,” he replied, trying to help by gently massaging Luna’s temples. Slowly but surely, the pain began to subside.

Luna opened her eyes, wincing slightly as she touched her head. Irkhan kept massaging her until the pain faded. Luna then took the walkie-talkie from his hand.

“Agent Ita, it’s me,” Luna said.

“Agent Luna, are you all right?” Ita asked.

“Yes. I’m fine,” Luna replied softly.

“Thank goodness...” Agent Ita breathed a sigh of relief. She had been extremely worried hearing Luna’s groans.

“Agent Ita, listen carefully. This is my final message,” Luna said suddenly. Agent Ita instantly activated her recorder.

Irkhan gazed down at Luna in his lap. It seemed she, too, had made up her mind. He gently brushed back her hair. Luna held Irkhan’s hand. Though it wasn’t the first time they had touched, something about this moment felt different.

“Agent Ita, my final message is the same as Agent Irkhan’s. I will die here. If you're fed up with the Organization's system, leave it. Live your life happily. Don’t think about revenge. Find someone you love and build a joyful family. Don’t follow the same dull path I did. As for the assets I own, I’m leaving them to you. Ita… I love you.”

Hearing Luna’s final words, Agent Ita broke down. Letting Luna go was not easy.

Luna and Irkhan could hear her crying. Luna shut her eyes tightly and gripped Irkhan’s hand even more firmly. Irkhan looked into her tearful eyes and gently wiped them away. She let him—his touch brought peace. Irkhan said nothing, but his actions told her she wasn’t alone.

“I, Agent Ita, accept Agent Luna’s final message. If there is life after death, I hope you both will no longer be enemies.” Agent Ita choked on her words.

“Thank you, Agent Ita,” Luna and Irkhan said at once. Luna then threw the walkie-talkie hard against the cave wall, smashing it to pieces.

“Nice throw,” Irkhan said, leaning back against the cave wall.

  Meanwhile...

Victor and Natasya stood on the ship’s deck, staring at the island that would soon be destroyed. The three helicopters Natasya had summoned were now approaching.

“Sir, Ma’am, the explosives have been fully planted across the island. Now we’re just waiting for the remaining assassins to board the ship,” reported one of the killers.

“Excellent. My revenge will soon be complete. Don’t forget to check the ship—make sure Irkhan isn’t hiding among the assassins trying to sneak onboard,” Victor ordered sternly.

“Yes, sir,” the killer replied. “Sir, here’s the detonator,” he added, handing it to Victor before walking away to check the rest of the ship.

Victor stared at the detonator. One press of a button, and Irkhan would be gone forever. Natasya leaned her head on his arm.

  “Are you happy?” she asked.

“This is the happiest I’ve ever been, Natasya,” Victor replied, entwining their fingers and kissing the back of her hand.

The roar of the helicopters drew their attention. The three choppers hovered over the island, waiting for Natasya’s signal to drop the explosives.

“It’s almost time… Goodbye, brother,” Victor whispered.
