Chapter 6: So It Was You
"Since it's you, can you let me go?" Wei Yuanwei looked at Yun Xie, her tone carrying a hint of pleading.
She hoped that, given she had treated his wounds before, he might let her go!
Yun Xie's pitch-bck eyes fell on Wei Yuanwei's swollen and bruised right cheek, causing an inexplicable sense of nervousness to rise within her.
"Are you begging me?" Yun Xie's dark eyes were like thick ink, bottomless, and his voice carried a hint of coldness as he spoke, "People who beg me usually do so on their knees!"
Kneel? As a modern person, Wei Yuanwei really couldn’t bring herself to kneel.
"Your Highness, just consider that I treated your wounds earlier..." Wei Yuanwei gritted her teeth!
"Princess, you'd better understand your current identity. What right do you have to negotiate with me?" Yun Xie's dark eyes bore into Wei Yuanwei.
In an instant, Wei Yuanwei felt the coldness surround her like a suffocating mist.
"If that's the case, then I saved your life before. By that logic, you owe me a life. A life saved should naturally be repaid with your body, shouldn't it?" Yun Xie’s lips curved slightly beneath his mask, and a domineering aura emanated from him.
The surrounding air suddenly became suffocating, making it hard for Wei Yuanwei to breathe.
Yes, if it weren’t for him saving her and loosening her bindings, she would never have helped him stitch up his wound!
"But... I'm afraid of dying!" Wei Yuanwei took a deep breath, her heart full of resentment.
This Evil King is so unpredictable. At first, she thought he was easy to deal with, but now his tone had turned so sharp.
"Afraid of death, yet you dare to make demands of me?" Yun Xie’s smile deepened, and his gaze never left Wei Yuanwei’s face. "Lift your face!"
Wei Yuanwei didn't lower her head but slightly raised it instead. However, she was only as tall as Yun Xie's chest, so he couldn't see her entire face clearly.
Seeing that Wei Yuanwei didn’t respond, Yun Xie extended his long hand and gently pinched her chin, lifting her face.
Wei Yuanwei’s swollen right cheek was now fully exposed to Yun Xie.
"Who hit you?" As he spoke, Yun Xie's cool fingers lightly traced over Wei Yuanwei’s right cheek, moving as smoothly as flowing water, the touch incredibly gentle.
Wei Yuanwei remained silent.
"I told you to speak!"
"Can you help me hit them back?" Wei Yuanwei’s clear eyes showed impatience as her delicate face was gently held in Yun Xie’s hand, fragile like porcein. Under the orange candlelight, she looked more beautiful than ever.
"Since you're my person, I will naturally seek justice for you," Yun Xie said in a calm yet domineering voice.
"The bride and groom should drink the wedding wine!" The matchmaker, who had been listening outside the door, stepped in without fear when she noticed there was no movement from the two.
Yun Xie took the wedding wine that the matchmaker handed over, while Wei Yuanwei took it in her hands, her eyes glinting with a hint of hesitation under Yun Xie's threatening gaze.
They exchanged the cups, and as Wei Yuanwei was about to drink the wine, an arm went off in her mind. In ancient times, people often drugged the wine at weddings.
So, she held the wine in her mouth, not swallowing it immediately.
"The bride and groom should drink the wedding wine and then proceed to the bridal chamber!" The matchmaker said with a cheerful smile as she walked to the window, id a pure white handkerchief on the bed embroidered with mandarin ducks, and said a few auspicious words for early offspring before retreating.
"Swallow it!" Yun Xie's cold voice suddenly came from above.
Wei Yuanwei pursed her lips, staring at Yun Xie.
Yun Xie pinched Wei Yuanwei's chin, and with his silver mask, his face leaned closer to hers. Wei Yuanwei thought he was going to kiss her, and frightened, she immediately swallowed the wine in her mouth.
Wei Yuanwei smacked her lips. The wine was quite sweet, unlike the strong taste of liquor; it seemed even pleasant to drink.
She wondered if it had been drugged. If it had, she would be in trouble!
As she was thinking, Wei Yuanwei suddenly felt a tightening around her waist as Yun Xie's rge hand wrapped around her.
"Princess, it's time for us to proceed to the bridal chamber!" Yun Xie's long, teasing voice came from beside her ear.
Wei Yuanwei froze, feeling every pore of her body stand on end. She swallowed hard and said, "I... I suddenly feel like I need to go to the bathroom!"
With that, Wei Yuanwei lifted her skirt and began walking toward the door, but the rge hand around her waist tightened, and in an instant, she was lifted off the ground.
"Your Highness... Your Highness, you are injured, it's not appropriate... not appropriate for intense movement!" Wei Yuanwei spoke in a nervous, disjointed manner.
"It's fine!" Yun Xie pressed her down onto the bed, one hand supporting her head, the other beginning to untie the belt of her clothes.
"Your Highness, Your Highness... I really need to use the outhouse!" Wei Yuanwei immediately stopped Yun Xie's movements, but Yun Xie only responded by twisting her hands behind her back.
"Stop trying these little tricks in front of me!" Yun Xie’s long fingers gently tugged, and the belt around Wei Yuanwei’s waist was undone.
Her red wedding dress bloomed like a red rose on the same red bed, beautiful and dazzling!
"Let me go, I’ll be back in a moment!" Wei Yuanwei's hands were held firmly behind her, unable to move. She stared at Yun Xie’s hands.
"Do you know how the fourth Princess died?" Yun Xie’s voice was low and cold.
Wei Yuanwei shuddered in fear. So this trick wasn’t unique to her!
Yun Xie leaned down, his warm breath brushing against Wei Yuanwei’s face, tickling her. His thin lips lightly grazed her skin like the delicate touch of a dragonfly.
Every inch of skin he touched felt like it was burning, hot and bzing.
Wei Yuanwei tried to avoid Yun Xie’s lips, but the more she avoided, the closer he pressed.
Just as Yun Xie was about to make his next move, a sharp pain suddenly hit her stomach, making Wei Yuanwei forget all about stopping Yun Xie and clutch her abdomen. Her brow furrowed in agony, and the pain felt like a violent cramp, enough to make her forget everything else.
Yun Xie halted his movements, his dark eyes full of unrelenting heat and desire. "What's wrong?"
"It... it hurts... it hurts so much..." Wei Yuanwei’s delicate face contorted in pain as she rolled on the bed, unable to speak clearly, cold sweat dripping down her forehead and body.
Wei Yuanwei regretted it. She shouldn’t have eaten so much. Now, her stomach hurt so badly she wished she could die.
Yun Xie immediately got off the bed, put on his clothes, and called toward the door. "Xuan Li, go fetch a doctor!"
By the time the imperial physician arrived, Wei Yuanwei was in such pain on the bed that she was almost losing consciousness. Her face was pale, and she groaned incessantly.
Wasn't she supposed to just have diarrhea? Why was her stomach hurting this much? And she hadn’t shown any signs of diarrhea!
The imperial physician checked her pulse through the curtain, his gaze sweeping over the room before he sighed lightly. He hesitated and finally reported, "Your Highness, the Princess’s body is too weak to digest the food she ate. The food has accumuted in her intestines, and the Princess also consumed a rge amount of cold and hard-to-digest food, which has caused intense abdominal pain. If she takes the medicine I prescribe, the pain should subside, but..."
