Chapter 15: Sleeping in Front of the CEO
The surprise on her face was far too obvious. Shangguan Yunli chuckled. “You remembered?”
Ye Xian nodded like a pecking chick. Every single person at the banquet had run from her like she was the pgue, and here was this son of a billionaire—who was also a heavyweight in the film industry—actually approaching her?
Ye Xian said, “Sorry, I had a bit to drink earlier and didn’t recognize you right away.”
“No worries. If I hadn’t overheard your self-introductions for a while, I wouldn’t have recognized you either. You’ve changed a lot.”
So… he saw her being rejected one after another?
Ye Xian gave a dry ugh, trying to ease the awkwardness.
“What got you interested in acting all of a sudden? Weren’t you always only interested in Jiang Wanze?”
Seems like he knew the original Ye Xian pretty well. Or maybe her crazy obsession with Jiang Wanze was just that well known.
“I got tired of doing the same thing. Time to try a new fvor.”
“Oh?” Shangguan Yunli gave a half-smile, the kind you couldn’t tell if he believed you or not. “But with your current reputation, getting access to resources won’t be easy.”
“Yeah. Reputation is like credit—once it crashes, it’s hard to rebuild.”
She said it with such a straight face that Shangguan Yunli was momentarily dazed.
Interesting.
Was this really the same Ye Xian who used to trail after Jiang Wanze like a lost puppy? She was practically a different person.
“You don’t have to be so discouraged. There might still be another path.”
“Hm?”
“Go find your CEO. As long as he gives the word, who would dare not use you?”
Ye Xian’s briefly brightened eyes dimmed again.
Right. Except… she had already burned that st bridge herself.
All she could hope for now was that the CEO wouldn’t come after her for trying to drug his beloved younger brother. How could she possibly have the face to ask him for help?
“What’s wrong? You don’t dare?”
“It’s not that. It’s just… I’m not worthy.”
Shangguan Yunli raised his brows slightly, as if he didn’t quite understand what she meant.
“Dear distinguished guests, friends from the media, please take your seats. Our CEO will soon begin his address…”
A broadcast voice echoed through the banquet hall. Guests began to take their seats, and Ye Xian found one nearby and sat down.
A few middle-aged men waved toward Shangguan Yunli from across the room. He turned to gnce at them. “I’ll head over. Oh right—your CEO will be pying ball next Wednesday at the Nan Mirror Lakeside.”
Ye Xian: “?” Why is he telling me this?
The lights in the banquet hall dimmed slightly, and the spotlight shifted to the stage.
As Bo Tingshen slowly walked out from backstage, the entire room held its breath and focused all attention on him.
Standing at the microphone, under the lights, the man radiated the aura of a born leader. Even the cuff of his suit gleamed with elegant refinement.
A true son of heaven…
Even though she had seen him twice before, Ye Xian still couldn’t help but stare at that strikingly handsome face a little longer.
How could someone look this good? Why does a man like this even exist in the world…
But as soon as he started speaking, Ye Xian began to yawn.
She had always been allergic to these stiff, official speeches. She’d even once fallen asleep at an award ceremony, ending up as a trending joke online.
“Hello everyone, I’m Bo Tingshen. First, I’d like to thank all our dear friends and media partners for coming to celebrate my grandfather’s birthday…”
His voice was low and smooth, rich with a magnetic allure. It sounded so nice that… Ye Xian dozed off, tilting her head to the side.
“…In the past two years, with the support and care of society and the hard work of all Bo Group employees…”
Bo Tingshen paused mid-sentence. His long shes lowered slightly, and his gaze nded on the sleeping youth in the front row.
He paused for a moment, but none of the attentive guests noticed anything out of pce.
