“We made it,” Terry said, adjusting his backpack. “This place gives me chills.”
Doni stepped forward. “First gym’s on the other side. Let’s not waste time.”
The moment they entered, the world transformed. Towering trees loomed overhead, their twisted branches forming natural arches. The air was filled with the hum of bugs, distant bird cries, and rustling leaves. Every shadow seemed to move, every breeze whispered secrets.
As they walked, Doni pulled out his Pokédex and scanned the area. “There should be plenty of wild Pokémon here. Keep your eyes open.”
Their first encounter came quickly. A rustling in the underbrush made Aqua freeze. A moment later, a shiny green and purple Spinarak crawled out, blinking its bright red eyes.
“No way!” Aqua gasped. “A shiny?!”
She slowly stepped forward. “Nidoran, use Poison Sting—careful, we don’t want to knock it out!”
Spinarak retaliated with String Shot, sticking Nidoran♀ to a tree. Aqua commanded a Growl to lower its aggression, then followed up with a weak Tackle. When the Spinarak began to wobble, Aqua tossed a Poké Ball.
It shook once... twice... click!
“I caught it!” she cried, holding up the ball.
Doni scanned it with the Pokédex:

“Nice!” Terry said. “That’s gonna be a cool addition.”
They kept moving deeper. Wild Caterpie and Weedle darted through the grass, but nothing too threatening. The group took a break near a small clearing, and Doni decided it was the perfect time for training.
“Alright everyone,” he said, tossing out his Pokémon. Lotad and Poliwag stood side-by-side, eyes bright.
“You guys are doing great, but we need to level up before Pewter Gym.”
He directed Lotad through a series of Water Gun and Absorb drills, making it aim at marked rocks. Poliwag practiced dodging and using Double Team, creating a blur of illusions.
Nearby, Aqua had Nidoran♀ and Spinarak practicing coordination one using Poison Sting while the other used String Shot to trap a mock opponent. Terry had Pichu jumping between trees, firing Thundershocks at moving leaves to improve his accuracy.

“Nice, buddy,” Terry called. “Keep it up!”

As they packed up to continue, something odd caught Doni’s eye half-buried in the dirt near a fallen tree was a piece of fabric. He knelt and pulled it out.
It was a torn black sleeve with a red “R” stitched on it.
“Team Rocket?” he muttered.
Aqua frowned. “That’s… not good.”
Terry looked around nervously. “Let’s keep going. And stay alert.”
Just as they were moving on, a sudden slicing noise cut through the air.
Something fast dashed between the trees, knocking branches down as it moved.
“What was that?!” Aqua cried.
Doni pointed. “There!”
Emerging from the shadows was a large Scyther, its sharp blades glinting in the filtered sunlight. But this one looked wild ,scarred, with tattered wings and fierce eyes.
“It’s injured,” Terry said, stepping forward. “We need to calm it down!”
But Scyther wasn’t waiting. With a cry, it lunged straight for them.
Terry threw a Poké Ball. “Pichu, Quick Attack!”
Pichu zipped forward, colliding with Scyther and knocking it back. The Bug-type snarled and responded with Fury Cutter, landing a slash that sent Pichu tumbling.
“Thundershock!”
A burst of electricity surged through the forest, hitting Scyther and stunning it briefly. Terry took a chance.
“Go Poké Ball!”
The ball shook once... twice... and Scyther burst out, wings buzzing angrily.
Scyther charged with Wing Attack.
“Dodge and use Sweet Kiss!”
Pichu leapt to the side and blew a sparkling kiss that confused Scyther. It stumbled, turned in place, and hit a tree.
“Now!” Terry yelled, tossing another Poké Ball.
One shake. Two. Three. Click!
“I caught it!”
The trio stood in stunned silence for a moment.
Then Terry exhaled. “That was insane…”
He carefully approached the Poké Ball, released Scyther briefly, and knelt beside it.
“Hey. You’ve had it rough, huh?” he said, gently applying a potion and a bandage from his kit. “You’re safe now. Welcome to the team.”
Doni scanned it:

They made camp near a stream that afternoon, letting their Pokémon rest and recover. While Aqua and Terry prepped food, Doni sat by the water with Poliwag and Lotad.
“Alright you two, let’s work on aiming and mobility,” he said.
He tossed stones into the river, and Poliwag used Water Gun to skip them like pebbles while Lotad practiced using Mist to conceal them from sight. Doni cheered them on, and they chirped back happily.
Then the water began to ripple.
A massive blue snout erupted from the surface, letting out a wild roar.
“CROCONAW!” the beast shouted, wide-eyed and flailing like it was just as surprised as they were.
Doni’s jaw dropped. “WHAT?!”
The Croconaw slipped on a rock, fell back into the river with a giant splash, and disappeared before Doni even had time to react.
Terry ran over. “What the heck was that?!”
Doni stared at the rippling water. “I think I almost caught a Croconaw without doing anything.”
Aqua laughed so hard she nearly dropped her food.
Night fell, and the forest darkened.
They sat around a small campfire, roasting berries, their Pokémon curled up nearby.
Aqua looked up at the stars poking through the canopy. “This forest is wild. A shiny, a rogue Scyther, Croconaw... and maybe Team Rocket.”
Terry nodded. “It feels like something’s going on.”
Doni tossed a stick into the fire. “Whatever it is, we’ll handle it. Together.”
As the fire crackled and the forest quieted, a pair of glowing red eyes watched from deep within the trees. A black gloved hand silently picked up the torn Team Rocket uniform sleeve and faded into the shadows.
