This is what I was at that time—careless, reckless, a kid who didn’t really understand what it meant to be serious. I was just a teen, unsure of my own emotions, letting things happen without thinking. Life wasn’t something I took seriously. I was a boy who liked to flirt, who liked to feel in control, but didn’t really know what I was doing. At that point in my life, I thought I knew it all, but I really didn’t. I didn’t know what love was, and I definitely didn’t know what I was getting myself into.
It wasn’t like I was curious about her, or even liked her. To be honest, I didn’t even know her well enough to have any real feelings. I just thought she was pretty. And that was enough for me. So, I sent her the message, without thinking twice. I didn’t care if she accepted or not. I was just being the careless guy I was, sending out messages and expecting everything to work out.
I didn’t expect her to take it seriously, but she did. It wasn’t just a simple reply; it was a pause, a long moment of thinking. And then, the reply came: “Isn’t it too fast? We’ve only known each other for a couple of days, and you’re already asking this? You’re single, like you.”
I didn’t know how to respond to that at first. My immediate thought was that she was probably just pying hard to get or being cautious. I wasn’t thinking about how my actions might affect her. I was just… doing what I wanted. I wasn’t desperate, I wasn’t trying to force anything—I was just careless. I thought, “It’s just a message. Let’s see what happens.”
We kept talking, but she didn’t give in so easily. She was the more mature one, and she made it clear that she wasn’t going to jump into something so quickly. The conversation turned into something more real, but I still didn’t fully understand. I wasn’t trying to convince her—I was just talking, trying to keep the flow going. I wasn’t looking for a deep connection, just someone to be with. It was all a game for me, a way to pass the time. But she wasn’t pying that game.
By the end of the conversation, she said something that caught me off guard. “I need time to think about it.” And just like that, I realized how foolish I had been. But at the time, I didn’t care. I didn’t understand the impact of my actions. I was just being myself a careless, confused kid who didn’t know what he wanted.
This chapter was the start of everything, but I didn’t know it then. It was a careless mistake, one that would shape my future and teach me lessons I wasn’t ready for. And in the end, she left me with the most important message of all: “I need time.” But little did I know, that time would change everything.
