It was dark, the sun long since set and the town they had stopped in was illuminated by several street mps. It was a bit of a shocking sight but when Isran got close enough she saw a few glowing orbs bouncing around in the gss enclosure.
“Magic… huh.” She mumbled under her breath.
Passing through the gates had been a simple affair, and after handing the coin purse to Elysi Isran was doing her best to sight see in the dark. She would get more time for that the next day but it didn’t hurt to start early.
She followed Elysi quietly as she looked around. The streets were narrow and opened up into small open areas. There weren’t that many people around but it still felt a bit tight.
Isran’s heart stuttered each time someone brushed against her, it had been so long since she had been in such a crowded space, it was a bit stressful and nerve wracking being surrounded by so many bodies.
Her throat tightened and an urge she had not felt in her first life slithered it’s way into her mind. She wanted to smoke.
Most stalls were closed though so Isran kept that to herself. They weaved through groups of people and as they got closer to a row of buildings with signs hanging in front of them Isran looked up and her breath got caught in her throat.
In the near distance there was a building that towered over every other. Its top most point was round with a sharp stone structure on top, the form and color reminded Isran of a cathedral.
The moon was almost as stunning as the sun had been earlier that day. Much closer to the sky than she remembered from earth, the shine and abstract patterns made her eyes sting. God she had hated being a dungeon monster.
They finally arrived at a building that was wider than it was longer. It was weird but Isran understood why that was done. With such narrow streets that was the best way to save space for the building.
There was a rge sign with words that looked vaguely English hanging in front of it.
Elysi pushed the door open and Isran followed her in.
To her surprise, the room seemed a bit normal once they were inside, it was clearly still long in the wrong the direction but normal enough.
Elysi walked up a desk on the furtherest side of the room and Isran decided to rest her back. She took off their luggage and sat at one of the empty tables in the pce, a soft sigh escaping her lips as she reclined in her seat slightly.
She couldn’t wait to hit her bed, a good shower would be amazing as well, though she wondered if the world had showers or she would have to make due with a bath. A quick shower sounded much better to her.
Elysi slid into the seat opposite her a few moments ter, the money pouch tightly clutched in her hands. She sat straight, like slouching was undylike. Isran supposed it was… though she wondered if Elysi was some kind of noble… maybe a run away.
“I ordered us some food… I hope you don’t mind.”
Isran shook her head. She wasn’t really hungry but she knew she should eat.
She closed her eyes, calming her breathing and thinking happy thoughts about the bed she couldn’t wait to dive on.
The smell of fresh rice made her eyes snap open. A small woman with an orange beard stomped up to the table, two ptes in hand, and dropped them a bit too aggressively, a few grains of rice dropping onto the wooden surface.
She grunted and turned around without a word, stomping as she went.
Isran bit her lip and turned to her food. She loved dwarfs. It was funny to see the beard thing also transfered to female dwarfs.
Her pte was filled with rice and a gravy that smelled and looked good, a rge chicken leg sat on top off it and a leaf on top of the chicken leg.
Isran gnced at Elysi’s pte to see the same with the exception of meat and two additional leafs.
Elysi picked her spoon and scooped up some rice, one leaf sat on top of it and brought it to her lips. As she chewed Isran watched her plump lips move, maybe it was because she was tired but Elysi was glowing.
“Do you not eat meat?”
Elysi hummed and swallowed before answered the question, readying another bite of food. “Can’t digest meat.” She gestured at her ears and continued eating.
Isran guessed she was a herbivore, interesting. She wondered if the woman had herbivorous teeth. The leaf was bnd and tasted faintly like dirt so Isran shoveled some rice into her mouth to mask the taste and finished her food.
It was a good meal, the rice a perfect bance of soft ad fluffy and the gravy not too oily and definitely not dry, a good middle ground, good seasoning in it… she would ignore the leaf.
As soon as they finished the dwarf appeared, taking their ptes and stomping away as she went.
Elysi sighed and pulled out two keys from her cloak, handing one to Isran.
Isran stood with her and grabbed the cause of her muscle pains and the key and followed Elysi through the open space of the main area and up a flight of stairs before stopping in front of a two doors.
“I’m in the next room… goodnight Isran.”
Isran smiled and nodded at the beastkin. “Goodnight Elysi.”
The room was small. Not too small it felt custrophobic, but small enough Isran was sure Elysi hadn’t paid too much for it. At the thought she blinked, the purse was with Elysi.
“Please let her have a conscience.”
She didn’t have the energy to go ask for the purse and hoped and prayed the woman didn’t run away with the money and leave her stranded as she began to take off her clothes.
Left bare, Isran walked to the door in the corner of the small room and let out a small sigh of relief when she saw a shower.
“A shower is a magical thing.” She chuckled to herself and stepped in. One quick cleansing shower ter she was sitting on the bed naked with her dirty clothes neatly folded on the floor beside her.
Isran wasn’t necessarily a tidy person but her hands were shaking from nerves and exhaustion, she needed something to occupy them. Isran knew it was a stupid fear but she was worried when she woke up she wouldn’t be in the small inn room. Afraid it was all a dream and she was still in the damn dungeon floor, half her body serpentine and her senses over ridden by blood lust, feeling helpless to stop it.
She wished she had asked for the smoke, it would’ve helped calm her.
Isran decided to unpack her bag instead. They probably wouldn’t stay very long but checking on the fruits was a good enough idea. Surprisingly both the fruits and the meats were still as fresh as when they first saw them. She grabbed one orange looking fruit and bit into it. It was red on the inside but had the sweet taste of an apple. She briefly wondered about the agriculture of the world before taking another bite.
The two change of clothes she had packed inside and a few daggers as well as three books and some other weapons took up most of the space and most of the weight. After reorganizing everything and leaving the fruit and meats bags open just in case the could go bad, she climbed into to bed and with a beating heart forced herself to close her eyes. Her body was tired enough that she found herself drifting to sleep
The next morning Isran felt refreshed. Like the strain of the previous day hadn’t even existed. A good night’s sleep in a magical world was truly magical. She ughed at the thought and quickly shuffled into the shower.
When she stepped out—dripping because she didn’t have a towel and everything on dispy, she froze at the sight of Elysi in her room, the beastkin freezing as well.
Isran had been successfully ignoring her new appendage. Hadn’t thought about it, hadn’t looked at it. Peeing was the only time she had acknowledged its existence and even then not fully, so standing naked with her fccid cock in front of Elysi was mortifying.
