Chapter 1 - An Unusual Start

I don't know how I got here. But for some reason, I feel like I had always been here.

At first I wondered who I was, what I was, why I was here, and why I was asking those questions. But soon those questions didn’t matter. They floated away.

I found that I was content and satisfied with not needing to know. All that I did know was that I was here, I liked here, and here was white.

‘hmm? how do i know what white is?.....i don't know. it doesn't matter.’

It felt nice here. Just existing in this white, so peaceful. Like a lulled dream or a warm embrace, I found peace. Nothing changed, nothing moved, it just was for as long as I existed.

But then something happened, something new happened that shook my peaceful existence out of its reprieve. Something built inside me, a new feeling I hadn’t felt before, a feeling that moved me out of the warm lull feelings of the white, curiosity.

I was curious, something in my white world had changed. A blue screen had appeared before me.

‘hmm? what is blue?....i don't know. it doesn't matter.’

I was immediately captivated by it though. My curiosity continued to push me for more. I quickly studied it closer, observing everything about it. This was something new. I found that I liked new.

I then noticed something on the surface of the blue screen, it was white. I knew that I liked white already, but this white was different. I didn’t know what they were. They looked interesting. For a moment, a prickling pain shot through me. I didn’t know what pain was before that, but I knew that it was pain and that I didn’t like pain.

The pain only lasted a moment though before it was gone. Wondering what happened but not really having the attention span to care, I turned back to the blue screen. When I did, I noticed that the white scribbles on the blue screen started to change until, slowly, I could understand them. I suddenly knew what was on the screen! It was words! Lots of words!

This was so exciting. My curiosity was shooting higher and higher! I knew what words were now. I quickly studied the screen and began to read the words.

‘hmm? what is reading?...…i don't know. it doesn't matter.’

It was interesting. It looked like it was telling me something or trying to talk to me. I’ve never talked to anyone before.

‘hmm? what is talking?....…i don't know. it doesn't matter.’

It looked like it was wanting me to do something though.

‘….it wants me to choose…. a class? what is a class?’

Immediately, a new blue screen popped up at my question.

This book is hosted on another platform. Read the official version and support the author's work.

‘oh! it responded to me! how exciting! i like these screens. tell me more!’

I waited a while, but nothing happened. I didn’t understand.

‘hmmm…. did i make it mad?.... what is mad? i don't know. it doesn't matter.

maybe it wants me to do something? oh right! it wanted me to choose a….umm.. class…..yes that’s it.’

I was happy that I figured it out.

  ‘i choose a class.’

After I said that, I waited. But like before, nothing happened.

‘i thought that's what it wanted? no? hmmm…..’

I then looked back on the blue screen.

‘oh! maybe it wants me to choose one of the things on the list.…...hmmm so those must be the classes it was talking about! haha! ......ok. but there are so many of them….. i don't even know what they are. what is a….farmer?’

Immediately a new screen popped up.

‘ah! it spoke to me again. nice! do it again!..........’

  Nothing happened.

‘hmmm…. why isn’t it doing it again?...oh!...maybe..….what is a ranger?’

‘it did it again! i like this! more!’

I then began asking it the questions for all the “classes.”

I was really enjoying the screens appearing and disappearing. I didn’t know what the words really meant, but it was fun. I just kept asking it over and over what each of the classes where. I even got to see more colors!

‘what are colors? i don't know. it doesn't matter.’

I especially liked the last one’s color. It was red. I liked red.

‘what is red? i don't know. it doesn't matter.’

I kept asking it what is necromancer, over and over again for a while. Until the blue screen got mad at me again.

‘i guess i made it mad. but I don't like farmer class. i like necromancer class. it has a pretty color.’

‘oh! it's talking to me again! yes. i like the necromancer class.’

‘hmmmmm…. am I sure? what is sure? i don't know. it doesn't matter.’

Like shaking your head side to side, I bounced my words around my head.

‘i do like the color though. so, yes. i choose necromancer. it's much better than farmer. I don't like that color.’

‘transfer? what is transfer?….transfer is moving from one place to another. Hmm? How did I know that? Wait... What’s going on!?! Who am I?!? What am I doing here!!!? WHAT’S HAPPENING?!!?’

The white area I had known for all of my existence and had grown fond of, began to turn red and then it got brighter and brighter until everything turned black. All my questions were never answered as I lost consciousness.

  Which color would you choose?
