Walking alone in the forest every morning sometimes makes me realize about how important dan meaningful my 24 years old life is, I don’t know actually what is the correlation between those two things but I just feel it right away through my body. It’s pretty monotone how my life is in past 2 years since now, but so far, I really enjoyed it, live in this quiet village as a doctor really opened my eyes about how this life is, Mr. Aldric was right, Idad-Rebmus Village is a nice place to life especially if you want to hide yourself even though I don’t. I think enough for my diary, the sun already rose pretty high and I already spent my time in this forest looking for herbs since before the dawn, I have to go home and open my clinic or my wife will yell at me again. So, I go to the forest’s exit to go home with the herbs inside my basket, I got a lot today so I can make a lot of potion and medicine for today, oh yes, I’m really proud with my business mind. Before I reached the forest’s exit I see a familiar silhouette, an old man with a braided beard and his axe “Oh, Good morning doctor, looking for some herbs, eh?” he said. He is our chief, Urhan, he is a kind-hearted elf who become the leader of our village and the local carpenter, also become an example for us the villagers, also since he is an elf and looking so old if I am not mistaken his age is 540 years old or maybe more. “Oh, good morning chief, yes, I just got some herbs to make some potions. Anyway, didn’t we all agree to stop calling me with ‘doctor’ or ‘doc’? to be honest I prefer if everyone just call me with my name.” I said “Oh, haha, sorry Mahlius, kind of forgot about that.” “Where are you going by the way chief? Cutting trees again? It’s still the end of spring you know.” “Haha, better to prepared before the storm is coming Mahlius, besides it is profitable for someone like me who get nothing for becoming a chief for about 505 years.” “Ah yes, you always told me that government never paid you for becoming our chief, I feel sorry for it.” “Don’t worry, see you later Mahlius, those trees won’t cutting themselves, hahaha.” He said as he entered the forest. After waving my hand to him I headed home, I pass through a local farmer’s farm called Mr. Aldric, all his plants are ready to harvest but I think he is still sleeping right now, what a pain, sometimes I also want to be like him too. I arrived at home and hand over the herbs to my wife, thankfully she’s not yelling at me this time, she will make some potions out of the herbs I picked from the forest, and then I open my clinic. What a peaceful day today is, the sun shining, the birds chirping, and children playing. I still remember when I arrived in here, it’s all happened before I graduated from the Calamaric Wizard Univerity I never heard about this place before, it is just a tiny land in the territory of the Calamaric kingdom, but the people of this village are so nice, that’s why I bought an old house in this village from the local bartender’s mom and turn it into a clinic thanks to my grandpa’s treasure. The day passed so fast today there’s some people came to get an examination or bought some medicine, it getting dark and it means time to close the clinic, I put the planks and close the front door and getting ready to go home while I heard some yelling “Doctor Mahlius!!!!!” when I turn around, I see some kids, they came from Mr. Aldric’s farmer. It seems normal especially today the must be helping Mr. Aldric with his harvesting business. They run this way and stopped in front of me while still panting. “Hey kids.” I said “Got some rewards after helping Mr. Aldric huh?” “Mr. Aldric…” said one of the children “he got punctured with a big fork.” “Big fork? Ah you mean one of his farm tools huh…...wait what?” I immediately take my medical equipment and running to the Mr. Aldric’s farm. And I see someone who still standing casually with a hay fork stabbed in his stomach, he even still waving at me like nothing happened “Haha, hi kid, what’s up?” he said “Don’t ‘Haha’ to me like that! Look at yourself” “What? Oh, you mean this thing that stabbed my stomach? I just want to give some entertainment for all kids who help me today, it’s not a big deal, don’t worry” and he pull out that fork from his stomach, and casually throw that fork away. “NO STOP!!! Don’t pull it off like that, you’ll make the bleeding even worse damn it.” I take him to enter his house, thankfully somehow it didn’t stab his intestine, so I just casting a healing spell on his stomach to close his wound and then wrap it with bandage. “Alright I think it is all, next time you have to be careful Mr. Aldric.” “Thanks kid, put it in my debt okay, like usual. Oh, where is manner? Sit down and I will make you a tea.” “But you have to take a rest.” “Shhhh, just shut up and sit down okay.” And he headed to his kitchen This guy, he is Aldric, a casual and normal 35 years old local farmer in this village, kind of a funny guy. But not like that, he is more than that, he is a living legend. This guy is an idol for kids in my childhood, the guy who became the youngest general of Calamaric Kingdom’s army in the age of 22, the guy who gain the title “The Legendary Knight of Calamaric Kingdom” after defeated the Demon Lord Agius, the guy who never lose in every battle he led and successfully defeated all rebels who always become the main problem of this country before the current king taking control 5 years ago, he is Arthur Saint-Maxim III. A figure who idolized and respected by everyone including the current king, King Norbel himself. But after a war against a rebel who led by a former noble called Johan, it’s not the first time when he fights against him but after it, he suddenly disappeared and declared died two days later. I personally met him when I was 12 years old, back in the day where I still lived in the Canis-Lupus, the capital of Calamaric Kingdom. It all happened when I was playing with my friends, I nearly drowned after fell into the river until a silhouette of a man who wore a cloak who I thought it was a grim reaper at first, reaching his hand to me and pulled me from the river. And the same thing happened two years ago where he accompanies me to find my grandpa’s treasure, I didn’t know it at first until we have to jump into the river because of something and the same silhouette pull me out of the river. But still one question that wandering into my mind, what happened? “Oh, sorry for waiting so long.” Mr. Aldric came out of his kitchen and bringing a couple of teas and he put it on the table “Oh, thank you so much Mr. Aldric, sorry for bother.” “Haha, no at all, don’t worry about that. Oh, anyway you just closed your clinic, right? I do not really want to bother but can you please help me clean my basement today. I reaaalllyyyy tired of making that tea and my stomach is still in a pain.” He said with a tone of a little kid who asking for a toy to their parents. Seriously, I really want punch this guy stomach right now. I still can’t believe this guy is the same person who has the tittle “Legendary Hero”, I mean….ugh never mind. I just sighing before replying to his request. “Why don’t you asking to all children who help you with all your farm business Mr. Aldric?” I asked, with sipping the tea he gave me, surprisingly it tasted so good. “No no no no, I can’t let them playing with all my things in the basement.” “What are you keeping in your basement though? Your old war equipment when you still became the legendary knight?” “Just go with me, you’ll know it by yourself.” He said with a smile on his face. So, we go down into his basement and it is full of dust and spider web everywhere and so dark. But as he casting a fire spell to lights up the room, I can see everything so clear, despite the room that so dusty he managed everything very well, everything is so neat, the book, the weapon, and everything in here. this is the legendary knight I know. It took a couple of hours for us to clean the room and once we finished my eyes can’t stop looking at his armour, a shiny metallic armour with the crest of Calamaric Kingdom engraved on the chest “Oh my, the legendary ‘Evergrande’ armour.” I said hummingly “Haha, you are really a fan huh?” he said “pretty missed the day where everyone looked at me with honour and respect, but I think something like that is so boring and my current life like this is still the best, where I don’t have to slaying my own people just because we have different ideas.” He referred to the day where he always fought rebellion and literally killed the people of Calamaric Kingdom “So that’s the reason why were you disappeared and set your new life in here?” I said “Pretty much like that, actually it started so long ago, since I was a kid. Born as a second son of Saint-Maxim dynasty is really a mistake, I should have stay at my mother’s stomach for a year or two. But my mother died because of an illness when she was pregnant and somehow, I miraculously survived. My real name is actually very long” He stopped right there, taking a breath and then start to speak again “Arthorian Ignatius Clementius Geoffrey Claudius Reginald Aurelius Augustus Isidorus Hectorus Oberonus Quintenus Alan Saint-Maxim III” My jaw dropped, pretty shocked actually after listening to that hell of a name. ”Why is it so long?” I asked “I don’t know, my father just gave it straight to me. Anyway, my dynasty, the house of Saint-Maxim is very closed with the royal’s dynasty, House of James. And because we are in the same age, I easily make a friend with Norbel, the current king. We literally the same, we lost our mother and our dad never cared about us, I understand the condition of mine where my dad already has my brother to focused on but I never understand about Norbel’s dad. So, we nearly spend our day everyday with his late mother’s younger brother, Sebastian, he is Norbel’s advisor now if I’m not mistaken. He also became our swordsmanship master, he’s so rude to us and seems to really hold a grudge over his sister death. I never want to go to noble school actually, since I am not an heir, I want to be anything I want, even I want to become a clown because I was so amused with the royal’s clown. But my stupid father gave me an order to become Norbel’s friend and also his guardian, and since I don’t want to cause a trouble, I just accepted it. I go everywhere with him we also go to the Calamaric Wizard University and somehow, I got an award as the best graduate in my class. Nah, I’m cheating at my final test actually. And something happened after that, everything that changed my life forever. My father and brother died in a battle against a most wanted rebel group led by a former noble called Montclair.” “Johan…Montclair….” I said “Uh huh.” He said “So I have to take the next leadership of my dynasty. My first battle is the battle of Mistwood field against another rebellion. There is a lot rebellion led by various figure at the time because of the king’s inconsistency in nearly everything. Battle of Mistwood field is the battle where the general of my army was died and we are ultimately outnumbered, but I successfully to take control the army and with a little speech and reinforcements, I lead that army to take a win in that battle and the king give me the general ranks in my very first battle. A lot of people amused with my achievements but it is normal when a very young guy become a general at the time, because a lot of war happened and take a lot of life especially the generals. 8 years passed all day I through just war, war and war. Not just a war but war against people who stand in the same country as me, I always had a nightmare every day and I always asked when this going to end? I won all the battles, but at what cost?” I was silent imagining how scary it would be before Aldric finally continued his story. “And then Norbel crowned as the king replaces his father who mysteriously died, nobody knows how his father dies but thankfully slowly but sure he managed to take care of all rebellions diplomatically, I didn’t know how, I always curious how government did their job. But not all except one group of rebellion led by Johan. He led his final army in the great war of Easthaven valley. It was our 14th clash and still ended with my victory but I didn’t predict that Johan will going all out, most of our army died and withdrawed. When the war was over, I took a lot of wounds at the time and already gave an order to my army to left the battlefield first. I talked with Johan about so many things, sharing our ideas about each other views and after we finished, he left. I was there alone and the seeing the body of my army and the army of my people who don’t have the same ideas as us.” I really do not have any idea what to say, the story is so deeper than I thought, he really passed a lot of things “But how’d you ended up in here?” “Oh, that part?” He replies “I took a wrong turn when I want to go back to Canis-Lupus, I was so tired at the time and accidentally met chief Urhan. He healed my wounds and when in recovery, these villagers make me so envy because they are lived in harmony. After my recovery finished, I sneakily return to Canis-Lupus, where everyone still mourned about my death, I took all my things in my old home and moved here.” “Wait, what about your graveyard then?” “That thing? When in my last war I lost my Legendary Knight’s ring, I think it fallen somewhere and someone took it, the war was so brutal at that time, many soldier founded without some of their body parts. Probably they found a hand without body with my ring on it and think it was me.” “Wow, what a story, such a horrific scene here and there.” I said “Yeah, horrific and terrible will never representing what happened in there. I’m just glad it’s all over. Noble really did a good job.” “And looks like it already passed the midnight” I said “I have to go home because my wife must be looking for me” “Sure.” He said “Thanks for your help by the way.” We are come out of his basement, Mr. Aldric close his basement and lock it like before “But are you sure to leave king Norbel alone Mr. Aldric?” I asked “What do you think he is? Six? He can take care of himself, don’t worry about it. Besides, his uncle is there with him as his personal guard, he will be fine” After it I say goodbye to Mr. Aldric and return to my home. Next day, there’s a shock news spreading around the country. King Norbel, the 19th king of Calamaric Kingdom…has died
