Chapter 12: Temporary Peace

After eliminating one purple armored trooper, Kallen turned her attention to the other two. With a "bang," two cables fired from her chest armor, hitting one purple armored trooper and wrapping around its right arm and shoulder. The cables quickly retracted, rapidly bringing Kallen closer to this armored trooper.

"This is bad." The armored trooper sensed something was wrong and hurriedly swung its short sword, slashing at Kallen.

Kallen leaped up, avoiding the short sword's attack, and kicked the armored trooper in the chest with both feet, knocking it to the ground. Kallen pressed down on the armored trooper's right wrist with her left hand to prevent it from using the short sword, while her right hand's steel claw firmly grasped the armored trooper's left chest.

"Please, spare me." A frightened voice came from the purple armored trooper's facial armor. This armored trooper had just witnessed its comrade die at Kallen's hands and knew it was no match for her. It could only beg for mercy.

"Say that to my comrades who were killed!" Kallen was unmoved. The palm of the steel claw on her right hand emitted a dazzling red light, creating a sphere discharging electrical flashes. The red sphere slowly penetrated the purple armored trooper's heart area.

The purple armored trooper let out a desperate scream, its body shaking violently. About ten seconds later, it stopped struggling and lay motionless on the ground.

"This is bad..." The last purple armored trooper, seeing its comrades killed one after another, knew it was no match for Kallen. It abandoned its comrades and drove toward the distance, fleeing in panic. Seeing that this armored trooper had already fled far away, Kallen gave up the pursuit and returned to Captain Guan's side.

"Well done, Kallen! You really avenged us. That felt so good! Hahaha—oww, that hurts..." A-Bing called out joyfully. He tried to raise both hands to celebrate, but because it pulled at his left arm's wound, he grimaced in pain.

"Phew, it's stifling in here." Kallen complained as she grabbed her helmet with both hands and took it off, shaking her hair and breathing in fresh air deeply. Behind the helmet appeared the face of a young girl with a tan complexion. This young girl had clear, bright, determined eyes and neck-length red hair.

Captain Guan said: "Kallen, these two are Rulu and Nana. They are Mayor Qiao's family. As for Mayor Qiao, whom we were trying to rescue... unfortunately, we couldn't save him. He and his wife have sadly passed away."

"I see..." Kallen's face darkened, saddened by the fate of Mayor Qiao and his wife. She turned her face and carefully examined Rulu and Nana. Perhaps because she found Rulu handsome, Kallen was noticeably stunned when she saw him. Her gaze lingered on Rulu's face for several seconds without moving away.

With a "whoosh," Rulu leaped from the car and came to Kallen's side. With a polite smile on his face, he looked at Kallen and said: "Hello, I'm Rulu. Thank you for saving me and Nana just now."

"Ah, it's nothing, no big deal." Kallen said nonchalantly. Then she added in a solemn voice: "I'm very sorry about Mayor Qiao. I was collecting intelligence nearby to ensure the safety of the surrounding environment, so..."

"It's not your fault. Thank you very much." Rulu gazed intently at Kallen's face and said solemnly. Under Rulu's intense close-up gaze, Kallen's face reddened slightly. She turned her face away shyly, averting her gaze.

The scene paused for several seconds. Suddenly, Kallen remembered something and asked with curiosity: "Wait, this is more than four meters from the car. How did you jump so far in one leap?"

Rulu smiled slightly and said: "There's nothing strange about that. You should be able to do it too."

"Of course I can. Such a distance is no challenge for me." Kallen said confidently. But then she realized something was off and exclaimed: "Wait, I'm me and you're you. How can we be compared? Tell me, how did you jump so far in one go?"

Seeing Kallen so serious, Rulu couldn't help but joke: "It's very simple. Just put your feet together, squat down, push hard downward, then use the wind to push down, keep your hands flat for balance, and that's it."

Kallen was stunned for a moment. She realized Rulu was teasing her and said unhappily: "You, are you taking me for a fool? Actually, even if you don't tell me, I know—you're an Ultra-capable, right?"

"Yes, that's correct. I'm a level-four magic Ultra-capable." Rulu was quite measured and didn't continue joking, answering Kallen seriously.

"Oh, a level-four magic Ultra-capable. That's really impressive. By the way, you..." Kallen couldn't help but feel respect for Rulu. She wanted to say something more, but at that moment, Rulu turned around, walked toward the car, and said:

"Alright, we need to go now. Sanctuary's troops will probably come again. The longer we stay here, the more dangerous it becomes for us."

Captain Guan also said: "That's right. We can talk more after we leave the concession area."

Kallen nodded, put her helmet back on, and the two armored cars along with the red armored trooper began traveling on the road. For several minutes afterward, nothing happened, and the group was about to reach their destination—the underground tunnel entrance.

In a very spacious area ahead on the road stood a large stone building resembling a small mountain. On this building was a large, dark semicircular opening. Rulu, Captain Guan, and their group were heading toward this dark opening.
