Chapter 78: The Wager

Rulu said: "Su Wen's target is you, C.C. I must prioritize your safety. Regardless of the outcome of this situation, I cannot let you fall into his hands."

C.C. said: "So what are you planning to do? Are you planning to abandon the rebels and escape?"

"Of course not," Rulu glanced toward the tunnel entrance, confirming no one had followed them in, then lowered his voice and said: "Jason is outside now, and the Sanctuary troops probably haven't arrived yet. I'll go out and lure Jason away. C.C., watch for the opportunity to leave the underground tunnel with Sphinx and A-Niu and return to school."

"What about you? What will you do, Rulu?"

"I need to settle things with Su Wen. After everything is done, I'll come back to find you."

Hearing this, C.C. knew Rulu was planning to do something dangerous again. She sighed somewhat helplessly and said: "Alright, I know it's useless to try to persuade you. Rulu, don't you die. Don't forget Nana is waiting for you to return, and you still owe me something."

"What nonsense are you talking about? Of course I'll be fine," Rulu said with forced lightness. After a pause, he added: "But just in case I don't return, please take care of Nana from now on."

"I won't promise you that. You'll have to do it yourself."

Rulu paused but didn't speak. He handed the heavy silver staff to C.C., then quickly left the tunnel. Looking up at the sky, he saw a pink figure hovering about fifty meters above the tunnel.

"Only Jason knows Su Wen's whereabouts. To eliminate Su Wen, I must start with Jason," Rulu thought. He rose into the air with the wind, continuously jumping and flying among the city buildings, climbing upward. After a while, Rulu arrived at the rooftop of a thirty-story building.

Jason, hovering in mid-air, discovered Rulu's movement. He first cautiously surveyed Rulu's surroundings, and after confirming that Rulu was alone, he followed Rulu to the building's rooftop. He stood about twenty meters away from Rulu. The two silently stared at each other, each trying to decipher the other's intentions.

After about half a minute, Jason spoke first: "You, assassin who tried to kill the Governor, why have you deliberately led me to such a place? Where are your monster subordinates?"

Rulu said: "Don't worry, they're not here. It's just the two of us."

"Is that so? And you dare come here alone?" Jason's eyes showed killing intent as he took out two gleaming silver daggers, intending to kill Rulu while those two monsters weren't around.

Although Rulu noticed Jason's intention, he remained very calm and said: "Before you make your move, I should remind you, if I die, your Governor Su Wen will never find the person he's looking for."

Hearing this, Jason hesitated. He took out his communicator, put it to his mouth, and whispered: "It's me, Governor. I'm alone with that assassin now. He says only he can find the person you're looking for. What should I do with him?"

After a moment of silence, Governor Su Wen said: "Don't kill him yet. Capture him alive. Keep him alive until we catch the green-haired woman who's with him."

"I understand," Jason said. He returned his gaze to Rulu and asked: "What exactly do you want to do?"

"I want to make a wager with you."

"A wager? What kind of wager?"

"It's simple. We'll have a one-on-one contest, a fair duel. If I win, you must immediately withdraw your troops, stop pursuing the rebels, and let all of us leave safely."

  "And if I win?"

"If you win, I'll hand over the person your Governor Su Wen is looking for to you. How about it? Do you dare to wager with me?"

Jason's lips curved into a smile. He thought that at such a height, those two monsters probably couldn't come up. In a one-on-one duel, he was sure to win. So he said: "Alright, I agree..."

As soon as he finished speaking, Rulu immediately drew a gun from his body and fired several shots at Jason. Jason hadn't expected the sudden attack and was hit by a bullet in the shoulder. He quickly flew up, hovering in the air, and stared at Rulu with hateful eyes: "You think you can defeat me like this? I can heal such a minor wound easily."

"Don't rush. This is just the beginning," Rulu said coldly. He took out another gun and used both guns to attack Jason in the air. Jason hurriedly moved away from his original position, dodging and maneuvering very swiftly in the air. Rulu fired seven or eight shots, all of which Jason easily avoided, not a single bullet hitting him.
