Bck clouds continued to swirl around us, dumping rain by the gallons, covering the arid shrubnd in deep puddles and swift rivers more dangerous than the Gellys right now. My clothes were drenched; I was wet down to the bones now. Gabriel was beside me now; the both of us were moving forward, our guns raised, towards the Arc Star.
The ramp was still lowered, even as the engines were whining up and ready to take off. Steam sizzled off the thrusters as the rain pelted down on the ship. We at least had the rain fall to cover our infiltration on the Arc Star.
Between the engines and the rain, we couldn’t hear shit. Our feet spped against the wet ground as we slid up to the side of the ship. I peeked into the cargo bay. Nothing.
“Rolfo must be in the cockpit.” I gnced over at Gabriel. Water was dripping from his rugged beard. His shirt was matted to his lean muscles beneath. “He’s the only one left on the ship. Let’s take this easy. I don’t want to end our freedom now. Not because some anthro got a lucky shot on us.” I smiled at him, trying to ease my own nerves.
I was shaking now. Adrenaline was pumping through my veins, water was chilling my skin, and I was nervous that out pn wouldn’t work out as expected, and we would be left to die on this pnet like the rest of the crew.
No. I couldn’t have that. It wasn’t an option. We were going to win. We will be free.
“I’ll go first, cover me.” Gabriel took a step forward, looking me in the eyes, “And if anything happens, you get your ass out of here. Don’t try and save me. If I can do one thing to redeem myself here, it will be to save you. Got it?”
I nodded, blushing beneath the water running down my cheeks. Gabriel tussled my hair and took off into the cargo bay.
I smiled. Things were going great now.
“Clear, get in here!”
I turned the corner and stepped out of the rain. A trail of water was dripping from Gabriel all the way to the doors into the ship’s interior. I smmed the cargo bay ramp button, watching as the door slowly closed, protecting us from the elements. I stripped my clothes and tossed them into a pile on the floor. They slopped as they hit down on the metal floor.
Gabriel was gncing about in the hall. I pushed him aside, “I got it from here.” My wet underwear clung to my plump ass; water was dripping down my ft chest. I felt like such a sexy bad-ass. Nothing could stop me.
I swung my gun out into the hall. It was empty. I kept my gun raised as I scoured the hall all the way to the port hole to the mess hall. I climbed the dder, keeping Gabriel behind me. I was secretly hoping he was looking at my goods. It was the first time in a long time I hoped someone was looking at me. It was a great feeling. I wanted more of it.
I peeked over the hole. The mess hall was empty. It was quiet. Where the hell was Rolfo? His big dumb dog self should be here. I gnced down at Gabriel and nodded for him to follow.
We both stalked into the mess hall, keeping our guard up.
“Bitch!” Rolfo stepped from behind a corner and shot at us while side-stepping to another cover.
Gabriel pushed me to the floor as blood erupted from his arm. He dropped to the floor, pressing onto his wound.
“I could smell you entering the ship. I thought it was strange when no one else’s scent was about. What happened to them, huh? You kill them all?”
He was hiding around the corner. No clear shot. This was bad. “I killed some, the Gellys probably got the rest. You’re next, stupid dog.” I was under the table now, aiming at the doorway, just waiting for him to step out.
“Please. A stupid human won’t scare me, especially a cum rag like yourself.”
He was staying behind cover, waiting for us to move. He was smart enough, keeping on the defensive. I looked around for something to help me get rid of him. The Gellys would be here soon, flying their ship over to blow the Arc Star into oblivion.
There was a fork on the ground near me. I looked over at Gabriel. He was squirming into cover. Our eyes caught. I mouthed for him to make some noise. He nodded and started moaning and groaning in pain. I quietly snatched to fork, hoping Rolfo’s ears wouldn’t pick up the sound.
“Sounds like your boyfriend is dying. You might want to put your gun down and help him. Maybe I’ll let you both live.”
I shook my head. He was lying, but Gabriel needed help. I tossed the fork in the kitchen, waiting for it to ctter about. Rolfo aimed out at the kitchen, just like I hoped. I shot his arm as he scanned the room.
“Fuck!”
His gun dropped to the floor and I stood out from the table. I walked over to the Anthro sitting up against the wall, holding his hand tight.
“No need for violence, you won. Just leave me and take the ship. Come on…”
I aimed at his head, “Get in the pod.” I gestured to the jump pods nearby.
He gnced back nervously. “Are you for real?”
I shot him in the leg, aiming back at his head. He reeled in pain, grinding his teeth.
“Next time I shoot your head. Get in the pod, or die.”
The Anthro pulled himself over to the pod, leaving a smear of blood behind him. He hoisted himself into the pod, “You’ll get yours, bitch.”
“I’m getting it right now. And it feels great.” I closed the hatch behind him and pressed the button for unch. The pod bsted out into the arid pnet. I cut the tether and rushed over to Gabriel.
“It’s fine, just a flesh wound. Let’s get to the cockpit and get the fuck out of here.”
I knew he was lying, but there wasn’t much I could do for him now. We needed to leave ASAP. I lifted him up and pced his shoulder over mine, helping him to the cockpit.
The small room was prepped to unch. Thanks, Rolfo. Gabriel sat down and punched some buttons. The Arc Star began to lift off, shuddering about. Metal and wires popped loose as we began our accent.
This was it. We were free. We were about to live our lives free. I ran off to the med station to grab some supplies for Gabriel’s arm. I returned to Gabriel’s stern face.
“What’s wrong?” I hoped for any good news.
“The Gellical Ship is headed our way. This might get rough.”
He looked over at me and smiled through his pain. I was smart enough to know this was a bad situation.
I sat down next to him, “Whatever happens, happens. WE can only do our best to change our futures.” I grabbed his hand, “I trust you.”
His face changed slightly. His forehead was still scrunched, but his eyes went from sadness to confidence. “You sure got a way with words. Let’s ghost these fuckers!”
I buckled in. This was going to be a wild ride.
