Chapter 1 – Rough Start

The first thing Adrian noticed when he opened his eyes was how dark it was.

The second thing he noticed was, of course, the glowing blue screen floating in front of him.

This didn't surprise Adrian, of course. The being that had sent him here told Adrian exactly what to expect.

  'Khaos' it had called itself.

Khaos had let him choose some aspects of his new life in this gaxy. This such as Adrian's new body's look and age. Others the being had been oddly insistent on, such as where he would wake up or the species his new body would be.

Khaos had offered Adrian a second chance at life. Adrian was sure the being was getting something out of it he just... couldn't figure out what. The conversation had sted who knows how long and still Adrian had no possible idea what the god had gotten out of Adrian's reincarnation.

Khaos had asked for nothing, but the smug smile across it's ever-changing face made Adrian sure there was something the being was getting from it. Adrian simply had no clue what.

The god-being was certainly strange. It would go off on random unreted tirades throughout the entire conversation. One moment Adrian was discussing reincarnating into what he had thought was a fictional world, the next Khaos was completely sidetracked by a passing thought and going on a side-tangent about peaches.

Adrian thought back to the matter at hand. With a mental dismissal, the screen vanished from view, leaving Adrian alone in the dark 'room'.

'If you could call this a room.' Adrian thought to himself. Wherever he was, it was cramped. Adrian had barely any room to move around and he could feel his hands held down by something cold and metallic. Handcuffs.

A heavy metal colr rested on his neck, and Adrian could feel he was as naked as the day he was born, even if he couldn't see that fact due to the darkness of the room.

'What the hell is going on here? Where am I?'

The 'room', compartment, really, was moving around roughly. If Adrian actually had any room to move around he thought he'd fall over and roll on the ground from the rough, uneven movements of the room.

Adrian could hear voices from the outside of his compartment, just barely loud enough to make out what they were saying.

"-ave no idea what he is. He's got red skin like a Zabrak, but looks nothing like 'em. Got those weird tentacles on his face. 'an no horns. Maybe some kind of deformed one? Some kinda subspecies?" A rough sounding voice came from outside. The voices' owner spoke with a strong accent.

"Well go with that. Even this pitmaster won't want a deformed sve. A rare subspecies though... that might get the cheapskate to pay up..." This time a more feminine voice spoke with the same accent, albeit one much less pronounced.

'Sve? I'm a sve? Is this some kind of cruel prank? And what or who is a 'pitmaster?' Damn it, Khaos.' Adrian mentally cursed the god as the pair outside continued their conversation.

"Ha! In your dreams maybe. Remember what we got for the st batch? Barely 7,800 credits for the lot! Sure that Twi'leik only had one arm, but he still had some muscle on him!"

"Whatever, Kargan. We're almost there. I'll get the merchandise ready. You open the bay door."

It wasn't long before whatever vehicle Adrian was in came to a stop. Shortly afterwards the door to his right, which Adrian previously thought was a wall, opened wide and Adrian was near-blinded by the sudden influx of light.

It was only after Adrian regained his sight that he realized the 'room' he had been in was some kind of closet or locker, evidently refitted to fit captives inside. Standing outside the door was a blue-skinned alien woman. She held a pistol-like weapon, which Adrian knew to be a bster of one kind or another.

"Don't get any ideas, Sve. One wrong move and you lose that big head of yours, face tentacles and all. Get out. slowly."

In truth, Adrian didn't really have 'tentacles' on his face. Judging from Adrian's knowledge of pureblood sith, they were on the smaller end for the species. Khaos had asked Adrian what he wanted his new body to look like, and he had followed Adrian's instructions to a tee. A chiseled jawline adorned Adrian's attractive face. Attractive by Adrian's human standards, at the very least.

Adrian also noted the lean but prevalent muscles that covered his new body. He hadn't been fat, in his past life, but he certainly wasn't this cut either. Well-defined abdominal muscles adorned his stomach. He wouldn't look out of pce among chiseled marble statues. Khaos had been very generous with this new body. Adrian towered over the alien woman by almost a foot.

Despite this, Adrian said nothing and followed the woman's command. Muscle wouldn't stop a bster bolt and getting shot wasn't exactly how he wanted to start his second chance at life.

Outside of the locker turned prison cell was a kind of central room or lounge. Several other captives were lined up against a wall. Adrian could tell these others were captives because of the stuncuffs binding their hands in pce. Same as his.

Suddenly, Adrian was very aware of his nakedness. He looked down to his lower regions. Khaos had been very generous indeed.

There were seven other captives, not including Adrian. Adrian spotted what he knew to be a twi'lek, two humans, a member of a cat-human hybrid looking alien species Adrian didn't know the name of, and the rest belonged to various Alien species Adrian also didn't know. They were also stripped bare, which made it rather awkward, considering that a few of the sves were male and others were female.

"Get in line! I don't have all day." Adrian felt the woman behind him jab the bster's barrel into his back, pushing him forwards.

Deciding he didn't want to have a bster-bolt size whole in his chest, Adrian once again did as he was asked.

Adrian stood in the back of the line, and followed the group as they walked across the room then out of a rge door leading outside of the vessel they were in. The alien woman with the bster never stood far behind, and never lowered the weapon as they walked.

Outside of the sver ship the ground was yellow sand, barren and dry save for a few bushes or shrubbery in the distance. the wing blew harshly, forming rge dunes across the desert.

A human man met the group just outside the ship. This sver held a rger bster than the one the woman held. Instead of a sidearm he carried a rge rifle that promised death should any of the sves try to run.

The man, Kargan, Adrian assumed, looked over the group of sves.

"Any one of you even think about running, and you'll catch a bster bolt faster than you can say 'moron'! Now line up, and wait. Won't be long now." The man barked.

Adrian scanned the area for any possible way to escape. In his mind he pyed out a dozen scenarios, but all of them ended with a bster bolt cutting his new life short.

Had the group been on a different pnet, or maybe even a different location on this pnet, perhaps escape would've been possible, but there was no cover here. No trees to hide behind or rocks to cover his escape. Just miles and miles of endless sand.

Sure, he might be able to turn quickly enough to nd a punch on the woman with the gun to his back, but he'd immediately get dropped by the man with the bster rifle in front of him anyways.

So Adrian waited. He said nothing to the other captives, and they said nothing to him. Most just stood still with their heads held bowed, unwilling to look their captors in the eye.

It wasn't long they waited there, but to Adrian it felt like years. The scorching heat of the sun stretched minutes into hours.

But still, when Adrian saw the small ship flying towards the group from the distance, Adrian felt no relief. Just an overwhelming amount of dread. Whatever fate awaited him, Adrian was sure he'd rather spend a thousand years in this burning sun than go wherever this sve buyer was pnning to take him.

The ship nded, and after even more waiting a group of people walked out. Four aliens of a species Adrian didn't know exited the shuttle carrying bsters, along with a droid. A protocol droid with red pting walked slowly down the open ramp of the sver-ship. And from behind the droid came the st of the group.

Slowly, painfully slowly, a slug-like being pulled himself down the ramp and onto the sand. A Hutt.

'Dammit! Does this mean I'm in Hutt space? Or does it just happen to be a Hutt buyer? Fuck! I might be even worse off than I thought...' Adrian internal thoughts were a mess. He looked around desperately searching for any chance to escape, praying he missed something before. But he found nothing. There was no chance of anyone escaping.

The slug-like being came too a stop and spoke in their guttural nguage. Adrian couldn't understand one word, but neither could anyone else present.

  Then the protocol droid transted.

"Master Prothu greets you. He asks what you have acquired for him this time." The transtor bot spoke towards the human male with the rifle.

"Tell him I've got some normal goods. As he can see, I've aquired a twi'leik, two humans, a cathar, and a few others. But I've also got something really special for him. A rare subspecies of Zabrak." The sve-trader spoke formally. A far cry from how he sounded when Adrian was eavesdropping on the ship. He also lied as naturally as he breathed. Ciming Adrian belonged to some rare subspecies.

Kargan's poker face was damn near perfect as he spoke the lie.
