Chapter 8: Past Times and Preparations

  From the three days that was said to wait for an identifaction active status, the days went by, and alot of things happened in those three days. Like a lot of things.

  Day one included the arrival of the girls to the country so that cuts out. That leaves only two days left.

  Day Two started off simple and proud. Instead of visiting the nearest town and getting lost in the crowd just like Alice did, and having Luna walk randomly trying to find her as well as the driver that lost sight of her, things this time are different. This time their hours will be spent touring the hotel and thrilling themselves however they please. They went golfing; swimming; watching rom-com in a private theater; and dinning on the most exquisite food their tastebuds could savor the moment. That sted the whole day until they fell asleep.

  Day two, however, wasn't exactly pying nice. Okay, yes, for a time, they did the same routine from day one with little tweak s here and there, to change some of their activities to pass the time, but it was in the night that the overall vibe, lets say: didn't go smoothly as pnned.

  After their activities the time for sleep was imminent. Luna on the other hand decided to take it a little too far. Because they were guests it wouldn't matter right. Luna thought. With a little bit of booze and drinks their night was NEVER gonna be forgotten. It was a party.

  Alice truthfully disagreed but was ultimately forced into the habit and was just like Luna. Drunk and heavy minded. Before they knew what had happened next, the two girls pass out from radical banter.

  ~~~~~~
  A new day came to pass. It is morning. The light hit the window frames, reflecting off and bounced as it creeped into the guest room. Dark spots cleared and room lit up the room didn't look standard or rather there were slight changes.
  The fourth day - the day of the big gig was here. A day that should be celebrated the enjoyment spread in the air, as, the room guests were still asleep. Awfully asleep in this time of day.
  Observantly hinting the interior as light penetrated, the guest room had been trashed from bottom to top. Fortunately, for a small party, the upper floor minimised it's pollution but didn't so for the bottom floor that was obviously rocked to the hills with food and drinks, torn and open, scattered on the floor. Kitchen wares positioned elsewhere. A few torn fabric and stains that litter the wall.
  Alice apparently slept on the floor on a pillow and a bnket over her - but her head remained out. And for Luna, rather than floor, she (somehow) miraculously nded on the couch. Restlessness ruled her body. With how she acted st night, it be thought that, she - much like an alcoholic - would miss the target and nd on the floor. Her tiredness not moving an inche. Just like Alice she fully enveloped in a long bnket from head to toe.
  Ninety miutes in and the room remained all the more silent. Minimal change happened in the morning atmosphere. Fully knocked out they engross in sleep and dream.
  Ring! (1x) - the first sound of the morning came from the door bell.
  "Hmmm," Alice moaned in her sleep, twirling to the right.
  There isn't a sound that came from Luna. She too is fast asleep.
  Silence reigned again. One minute in, the next upcoming ring from the front door arrived.
  Ring! (1x) - The second time. Yet there was no sound from the girls. This sted five minutes.
  The reaction from the individual from the other side escated. In no order the individual pressed the door bell, and with a couple of knocks, it seemed to do the trick.
  Disturbed by the continuing racket, her brow squeezed, her teeth gritting, and her hand put on her ear finally made her realize and open her eyes in shock. She sprinted up like a trampoline and walked to the front door. Her mind still blurry but open for now.
  "What is it now?!" Alice said, grumpy and angry.
  When the door lock slided and door swinged open, the maiden dy said, "Oh hello, I'm sorry if I'm disturbing."
  To Alice's dismay, she looked rotten inside and unboreded outside. Like a dead walking corpse. "NO,...I-I'm okay," she pulled her head up bitterly. "What do you want?" She spoke.
  The maiden dy handed a letter with both her hands clipped to the sides in a respectable manner. "Please, take this. It was sent to me to deliver it to you."
  Alice took with her dominant hand (right hand) and asked, "What's this?" To which the maiden dy shook her head. It was a no. Regarding the contents of the letter it must be important for her to deliver at this hour. They didn't tell the maiden, probably because it was confidential.
  "Okay, thanks," Alice said.
  "Your welcome! It is our service to deliver our guests the best of the best of the accommodation...." the maiden dy responded, putting on a vivid smile.
  "Yeahhhh?" Alice said slower. Kinda creepy for her to hear it from her or just a nuisense.
  Shut! - the door closed.
  "Alright then, let's see what your all about," Alice zily said as she opened the letter and unfolded the contents of the writings.
  She read the letter.
  What felt like a whole 10 second read, the realization in her eyes, glimmering in an indefinite spark of shock, didn't take long to give Alice the thought wildering thoughts running through her head.
  She dropped the letter and rushed to wake Luna.
  "WAKE UP LUNA!" she unfastened the bnket covering her face; this and the light hitting her face she rattled out of confusion.
  "I'm tired...." she spoke childishly attaching her to the bnket.
  'Why won't she wake up - oh, I know!'
  Getting close to her ear, Alice whispered these two words,"We're in."
  With just those words, Luna's body electrified. Her body in full overdrive, pulled up from the couch, and was full of energy. This didn't make any sense or how it happened but what mattered was that Luna had been awakened.
  "Alright, what do we do?!" Luna hyperactively replied.
  ~~~~~~

  "How'd it go?" The butler asked.

  "Well." The maid responded.

  "Really?"

  "Why do you ask?"

  "Nothing much, I just see a smile on your face that's all."

  The maid blushed.

  "Well yeah," the maid reacted strangely but told her side. "It's just we never have had this type of guests before. They....they look and act so different."

  "They are our guests. Besides, we've handled pretty much the rich beyond this point before. Doesn't that count."

  "Yes, I know," the maid said, a gesture of humor drawing on her face.

  "Come on, we should get ready." The butler instructed.

  "Yes," she happily followed suit.

  ~~~~~~
  Shut! - the sound of the door closed.
  "Is that everything?" Luna asked.
  "Yes, that's about right," Alice answered perfectly. "Here we go now." They walked down the hallway along with their bags and suitcases.
  Dealt a heavy blow st night to the head drinking booze and partying like a madman, her memory reserved no means of functionality as she couldn't remember what really happened that night.
  "Ahhhh my head hurts," Alice rubbed her forehead. She looked at Luna and told her, "Next time I'm not drinking again, ESPECIALLY WITH YOU!" She injected with fury in her eyes.
  "Yes sorry about that," Luna kiddingly apologised. "I might have gone overboard."
  How does Alice know this? Well through experience of course, dahhhh.
  She is an alcoholic. The first time Alice witnessed it was in a bar.
  After working their butt's off their job they wanted to chill and break from the thought of work.
  Luna chose a particur bar that served the best ale.
  Her drinking habit was wild. 1, 2, 3, 4, and counting, she was a hard drinker and she had consumed 20 gsses of ale. For that type of habit she defies the odds and leaves the local bar attendees bamboozled.
  Ranked at the top of the leader board, there wasn't a challenger at sight to risk it all and go up against her score. Those that fail pay the penalty of 200 bucks.
  That was how she became to be known as the ruthless drinker.
  'Pretty niche if you ask me.'
  So after going through memory ne, the girl's made it down the stairs and met at the reception area. However there wasn't a receptionist on duty but they did meet someone else: the butler.
  "I assume your here to leave," the butler gestured.
  In response, Alice kindly obliged to speakon their behalf.
  "Yes, we are."
  "Well then, right this way, if you'll follow me," he pointed out at the exit. "....Your van has arrived just on que."
  "Really?" Alice peeked and saw it parked at the exit (which is also the entrance they entered through). "Sweet!"
  Alice grabbed her belongings and walked out. Luckily for them they had the keys. She opened a door and put her things in.
  "Am I gd to see you," she exaggerated.
  As she sat nicely she saw that Luna who was suppose to enter by the other door, took her time, talking to the butler. 'What is she on about?' She thought feeling agitated. So she jumped off the van and went to her, but before she tag her on the shoulder, she could her their conversation to which she let it continue and stood there, just behind her, listening.
  "Again, I'm so sorry about st night."
  "Please you don't have to apologize. It is our job. We serve our job honourable. SO then...take care."
  "Alright bye."
  "Your welcome."
  Luna then returned to the van. Her cheeks reddish from their conversation. She smiled.
  "So how what was it," Alice said humorous.
  "Nothing," she replied.
  "Really nothing. That wasn't nothing, I saw you blush."
  "COME ON, let's just go." Luna said hurriedly and embarrassed.
  "Whatever."
  As they hopped into their seats, the one who drives (Alice for now) ignited the engine with the key. The engine roared. They closed the doors and the van moved slowly until it gained speed.
  Looking into the far distance, the butler waved his hand as the van vanished from the trees.
  "Are you sure they'll be alright?" The maid asked from behind.
  "I'm not quite sure," he said uncertaint of his reply. "We'll have to only pray for the outcome."
  The road to the destination is as unspecified as their first meet up at the hotel. Only this time they didn't know where they were going. Although told by their superiors that the report was gonna be on a mining site, they didn't really justify the viability of this trip. It sounded sketchy. A lie almost, even by her own standards. But would it really pass - this lie - by their boss's foolproof detection mindset. To be Honest whether it was true or not, Alice has her suspicion. Whatever it is, a trip or not, it is terrifying a little.
  Luna was already asleep the moment they hit the road 10 minutes in. Alice helped herself with coffee and snacks they bought at the nearest coffee shop. She drank. She snacked. She kept herself awake for as long as she could.
  But why though. She could ask herself the same question over and over again. With no location specs on the pce she was driving to, the trip seemed to get rather suspicious in the mind of Alice making her rethink her options. Yet she pced her trust in hopes of ever attaining this gig, just in case if it is true, while also fumbling on another thought which she had a rough time to transte and grew too much to handle.
  She asked. Should I turn around? Or should I keep on driving? She imagined her thoughts racing through time.
  The road ahead was endless. She could seize the opportunity at any time if it meant losing their jobs.
  On her right Luna slept quietly. She thought with her in mind. Losing the job would mean shattering her opportunity too not to mention her dream as well of becoming a recognisable figure among peers. It was a hard call. What should she do? Risk it all and make it big time or fail miserably and start all over from the bottom-up.
  'Damn it,' Alice cursed.
  Her eyes gring on the front windscreen, she closed her eyes for a second, and an arm came from her phone. She heard it, opened her eyes, that she picked it up - pced at the front of the compartment where radio was at.
  She unlocked her phone and clicked on the notification that popped up. Her mind shifted once she saw the contents. This was it. This was all she needed to make up her mind.
  Of one of the sentence highlight: FOLLOW THE MAP. It provided a map below and further instructions.
  Sunny. Cool and breezy. Luna woke up to a fine afternoon. Seated, she stretched her arms in the air, her sleepiness dissipated, "Hmmmmm....." she groaned.
  All good vibes, check. She turned around to her left just a tad bit that she witnessed something along the line of horror and disturbed.
  "Eeeekk!" Luna shrieked and yelped, "Ahhhh! Gremlin!"
  "Who are you callin a gremlin?!" The gremlin talked.
  POV, it looked terribly awful at first but realised who it was. In her own words she described the creature - and a slight pause happened.
  Frickling hair. Dark circles and a face of no emotion. She thought of Alice as a creature of some kind. But it wasn't. It was just her imagination that got the better of her, and had gone off grid only for a moment.
  "Ohhh, ah....yeah," she calmed down. "Sorry about that."
  "Not too mention I'm THE one that's driving and your resting your ass!"
  "Yeah, sorry about that too," Luna doubled down which had some relief as Alice cleared her head.
  She straightened her throat and told Luna, "Now that you're awake, we should be nearing the gate."
  "What?"
  "You heard me," she said.
  "But how?"
  "Here," she handed her phone and of the notification. "Have a look for yourself."
  "While you were asleep and I was thinking of canc - I mean driving, I got the notification," Alice paused and switched her tone. She didn't want to tell.
  "I see."
  Was it too te to turn around? Like would it matter. She had a chance. But that thought would be discussed te as she saw the gate up ahead.
  "Alright Luna, strap tight," She too straightened her posture and put her good face. "We're here."
