Prologue

Wrapped in a blanket she closed her bathroom door and sank to the ground. The vinyl cabinet felt solid behind her. A couple seconds of searching in the dark found her tablet. She paused, her face illuminated by the lock screen. After a couple seconds the screen dimmed and went dark. Her neck ached softly as she leaned her head against the vinyl.

“Just, stay in the tension,” she said softly, scratching at an itch along her collarbone. And as she sat there, there in the dark, her want faded as all desires do. But who was she without them? Her feverish hands found the tablet, grasping at their coattails.

The tablet blinked to life, and she had to squint as she lowered the brightness before she unlocked the device and navigated to an app.

She opened Pinterest, then a folder: Wisdom, philosophy, and esoteric nonsense. She pressed on the first post.
