Chapter 56 I am his friend

The middle aged man ignored the gasps of the crowd around him, as if what he held in his hand were nothing more than an ordinary trinket.

With another casual flick of his wrist, dozens of perfectly sealed bottles of Void Ascension Elixir appeared neatly arranged in the palm of his hand.

He respectfully offered the Void Ascension Elixir to Allen and Keller and said,"Do you want to play around with these?"

Keller immediately took them, idly toying with the bottles in his hand. His fingertips gently nudged them, producing crisp clinking sounds as they collided.

Allen, however, took one bottle the middle aged man handed him and said in confusion,"Why are you giving this to me?"

The middle aged man chuckled."You are not doing anything anyway, so just take it and play with it."

Allen shot him a sideways glance, casually tossed the bottle back, and said,"You keep it and play with it yourself. I am not interested. This thing is useless to me."

At this sight, Kaelor and the group of noble youths behind him were all stunned, their eyes wide.

The Void Ascension Elixir, which the Aetherlan City governor's office regarded as a priceless treasure and had paid an enormous price to obtain a single bottle, was being treated like a toy.

And Allen even found it troublesome and casually threw it back.

Kaelor silently put away the bottle of Void Ascension Elixir in his own hand.

The sharp, mocking words he had originally prepared to humiliate Allen were swallowed back down his throat. His throat tightened, and he could not utter a single word.

He had been full of anticipation, hoping to see Allen lower himself and beg desperately for this bottle of Void Ascension Elixir.

But he never imagined that not only did Allen not care, he could even treat the Void Ascension Elixir as a plaything.

Compared to theirs, his single bottle suddenly looked pitiful and dull, completely lacking any sense of pride.

After a long while, Kaelor finally steadied himself and asked,"What is your relationship with the legendary alchemy master Monty?"

The Void Ascension Elixir was not something just anyone could obtain.

Even his father, as the governor of Aetherlan City, had only been fortunate enough to receive one bottle because he had once done Monty a great favor.

Yet these people in front of him had dozens of bottles in their hands. What kind of connection could they possibly have with Monty?

Even a life saving debt probably would not go that far.

The middle aged man across from him revealed a sly smile, scratched his head, and blurted out half a sentence,"We robbed…"

He almost let it slip and quickly changed his words."We have had some dealings. We are not very close, but Master Monty is willing to give us a bit of face."

Kaelor forced an awkward smile, the shock in his heart deepening even further.

Even one of Allen's followers could have such a relationship with Master Monty. Then Allen's own background was probably a hundred times more terrifying than he had imagined.

"I see," Kaelor said with an embarrassed laugh, no longer showing any of his previous arrogance or disdain.

"Today was just a joke with Allen. I did not expect you to be so deeply hidden and well founded. I truly admire you."

Kaelor knew clearly that he could not continue to compete.

Given the current situation, continuing to compare would only lead to repeated self humiliation and loss of face.

He might even offend the forces behind Allen. When that happened, even the governor's office might not be able to protect him.

At this moment, Allen once again became the center of attention, countless gazes falling upon him, filled with envy and curiosity.

This made him, who already preferred peace and quiet, lose what little interest he had left. He no longer wanted to stay here watching any kind of mercenary gathering.

He stood up at once and lightly waved to Keller, the middle aged man, and the young boy."Let's go somewhere else to talk. It's too noisy here."

You could be reading stolen content. Head to Royal Road for the genuine story.

Keller and the others quickly nodded, not daring to delay in the slightest. They followed closely behind Allen, turned around, and left.

  ...

Inside a small tavern tucked deep within the winding streets.

Allen looked at Keller, the middle aged man, and the young boy sitting across from him, as well as the black dog dozing at his feet.

Allen asked,"Keller, how did you actually find me?"

"I remember that last time, I clearly erased the drop of my essence blood I left behind. You should not have been able to find me."

Keller smiled, looking relaxed. Then he flipped his palm, and a wisp of essence blood appeared in his hand, shaped like an arrow pointing toward Allen.

  "I still have some."

Allen looked at the trace of essence blood in Keller's palm and felt like laughing and crying at the same time.

He knew it. For these people, finding him never really required any effort.

This time, Allen did not try to erase that trace of essence blood again. Even if he did, with their abilities, it would not be difficult for them to find him anyway.

Seeing this, a hint of amusement flashed in Keller's eyes. He then closed his hand and hid the wisp of essence blood away.

Allen turned his gaze to the middle aged man and the young boy at the side and asked,"Where did you get all those Void Ascension Elixirs?"

"I remember that our Demon Tribe and humans have always had a pretty average relationship."

"That Monty is usually so proud. How could he bear to give you so many Void Ascension Elixirs?"

The middle aged man showed a slightly embarrassed smile, scratched his head, and said,

"Our Demon Tribe does not have as many vulgar rules and restrictions as humans do."

"If we like something and cannot buy it or beg for it, then we just take it!"

Hearing this, Allen did not argue. He simply shook his head helplessly.

He could roughly guess that Monty had probably suffered quite a bit before the middle aged man and his companions took so many Void Ascension Elixirs from him.

Still, he felt a bit curious. If that legendary alchemy master were to find out that the Void Ascension Elixir he took such pride in and treated as a priceless treasure was being used by them as a toy, he would probably be so angry that he would explode with rage.

  ...

Kaelor stormed out of the restaurant, clearly still unable to recover from the humiliation he had just suffered.

Behind him followed a group of noble youths whose expressions were just as unpleasant. Each of them walked with their heads lowered, the arrogance and pride they had shown earlier long gone without a trace.

The resource battle mercenary gathering had already ended, and Kaelor had selected a few apprentices with decent levels of magical power.

He formed his own guard team, preparing to seize more rare resources in the upcoming resource battle.

But today, he was filled with pent up anger, having been harshly humiliated by Allen and his group, his face completely lost. In his heart, there was only one thought.

He planned to find a chance during the resource battle to properly deal with Allen and reclaim his lost pride.

However, he had just heard from other apprentices that Allen would most likely not participate in this resource battle, which made him extremely frustrated, even a little unhinged.

If Allen did not take part in the resource battle, how was he supposed to repay all the humiliation he had suffered today? Where was he supposed to vent the rage in his heart?

In terms of wealth, he could not compare to the forces behind Allen. In terms of connections, he could not even compare to one of Allen's followers.

But when it came to magical level and actual combat ability, that Allen who was called Max Level Trash was definitely not his match.

As long as Allen dared to participate in the resource battle, he was confident that he could completely defeat Allen on the battlefield and then brutally humiliate him.

He would let everyone know that he, Kaelor, was the most outstanding young mage in Aetherlan City, the one most worthy of becoming Berton's apprentice. That would count as avenging today's insult.

As Kaelor walked in the direction of Luminara Magic Academy, he racked his brain, thinking about how he could make Allen change his mind and join this resource battle, his eyes filled with ruthlessness and unwillingness.

At that moment, a beautiful figure suddenly appeared in front of Kaelor, blocking his path.

Kaelor lifted his head, and his gaze was instantly drawn to the figure ahead. He saw a young woman standing quietly at the entrance of Luminara Magic Academy.

Her skin was fair, her brows and eyes cool and refined, her temperament ethereal, so beautiful that it was impossible to look away.

"I never expected that there would be such a stunning woman in Luminara Magic Academy,"

A flash of admiration crossed Kaelor's eyes, and his tone carried a hint of praise. He then smiled and turned back to the group of noble youths behind him and asked,

"Which department's apprentice is she? How come I have never seen her before?"

The few noble young men behind him were already staring in a daze, their eyes glued to the woman.

They thought hard for a long while, then all shook their heads and said,

"No idea. We have been at the academy for so long and have never seen her. Maybe she is not an apprentice from our academy."

At this moment, the woman in white stepped forward and stopped someone who was walking out of the academy, asking,

"Excuse me, do you know Allen? I am looking for him on urgent business."

Hearing that this stunning woman had actually mentioned Allen's name, the admiration on Kaelor's face instantly faded, and his expression darkened.

Allen again. That trash actually even knows a woman like this.

The person who was stopped showed a friendly smile and asked,"You are looking for Allen?"

"What are you to him? I have never seen you before, and I have never heard Allen mention that he has a friend coming to look for him."

Evelyn replied,"I am his friend. My name is Evelyn, from Radiant Magic Academy. I came to Aetherlan City specifically to find him."

Hearing Radiant Magic Academy, the person immediately understood and smiled, nodding."No wonder I do not recognize you."

"Do not worry. I probably know where Allen is. Wait here for a moment. I will go in and contact him and have him come out to find you."

A flash of delight appeared in Evelyn's eyes, and she quickly thanked him."Thank you very much. I really appreciate it."

The person then quickly turned around and hurried into the gates of Luminara Magic Academy to contact Allen.

Just as Evelyn stood quietly at the entrance waiting for news, a voice suddenly sounded from behind her,

"I have known Apprentice Allen for so long. How come I have never heard him mention that he has a friend?"
