Bright, sunny, the smell of salt on the breeze. I awoke lying on the ground surrounded by grass. There weren’t any clouds in the sky passing by, so I took a second to just take everything in and closed my eyes to listen for anything. After a minute, I felt the ground shaking slightly like something was walking towards me. Next thing I know, the sun is blocked by a shining pink blob, and I received a large and long lick to the face by what seemed to be the biggest tongue I have ever encountered in my life. “Lickkkk” The strange blob said to me, and proceeded to lay next to me. I turned to look over at who or what was laying next to me only see it rolling around like a mad person making strange noises of joy.
First I cleaned myself off, and sat up only for the pink blob to copy me. Finally, I could see that my new friend was a Lickitung. He looked at me with what seemed an empty glance, and I started to laugh uncontrollably. “Well my new pink friend, do you happen to know where we are?” I asked the Lickitung who had started to play with its tongue. “Lick Lick” it said and stood up. After about 30 seconds, it turned around and started walking, so I stood up as well to follow it. Immediately I noticed when I stood up that Lickitung was wandering towards a tall and long looking building. Looking around one more time, I could see we were on a hillside, and far down the hill I could see what appeared to be the sea. “So that’s where that wonderful smell and cool wind were coming from. It must be nice to live by the sea” I said as I followed Lickitung.
As we got close to the building, I could see other creatures also wandering around and interacting with each other. For some reason though, I didn’t see any people or anything that looked like a person. Some of the creatures started to wander away as Lickitung started to get closer. “Hey bud, do you know any of these creatures?” I asked as he continued forward. “That’s a Ponyta!” I exclaimed as I could finally make them out now. “These are all Pokèmon! Why are so many different species all together though?” I thought out loud. Finally we got to the building and Lickitung shot its tongue out and knocked on a door that was on the side of the building. Out stepped someone I was all too familiar with, my nostalgia and past being pulled up all at once. “Hello is someone out here?” asked Professor Oak.

Standing there, surrounded by Pokèmon was the one and only Professor Oak. The man was a legend, every Pokèmon fan in the world knew who the professor was. “Hmm Lickitung, were you the one who knocked on the door?” he asked my new pink friend. “Lick Lick Liiii” Lickitung said and turned around looking at me. “Hello there young man, and who might you be?” Professor Oak asked me. “Hello Professor, my name is Austin and I was sent here to help” I told the professor. “Well, very nice to meet you Austin. My name is Professor Samuel Oak and this is my lab. How did you know I needed help though?” He asked after introducing himself. “Honestly Professor Oak, it is a long story. Can I come inside and explain everything?” I said with a sigh. “Yes, of course! Let’s get inside and you can tell me what happened” he said with a smile.
An hour later, we had covered the whole story and speculated who the voice might be. “Well Austin it seems you are definitely here for a reason. Also, I do need help as well. In fact, I was just about to reach out to find a new aide to help with the lab and help me conduct research” he told me with a grin. “I would love to help Professor! Is there anything I need to do or anything you need help with right away?” I asked. “Well to be honest, I am so busy between watching after Pokèmon who are living here and trying to conduct research I feel like things are slipping through the cracks” he said looking down with a had on his chin. “What did you used to do in your world again?” Professor Oak asked me. “Well I used to do both field research and animal caretaking. So I can help out in general with everything and anything you are currently working on” I told him with confidence. “All righty then, we’ll get you started right away then! Welcome to the team Austin!” Professor Oak said as he shook my hand.
