Chapter 32

The guildhall has been very quite for the past few days, a rare thing with how rowdy adventurers usually are. It is to be expected though since what has been learned in just the week is the kind of thing you just have to sit on. The Guild Master had very quickly struck the whole guild to silence, and even invoked some of his own power to make sure it was followed. No one is to talk about what the dungeon can do outside of anyone in this guildhall. It is one of the rare times I have ever seen the dwarf look as fierce as his reputation says he is. Not a soul in the guild was willing to even speak for the past few days since then. The graveyard dungeon has been an insane upset and everyone wants to do something about it, and I bet the church hasn’t been idle about it either.

I shake my head trying to get rid of the migraine that has been pulsing in my head of the past few days. The mana in the area had a massive burst twice, and it has been playing hell on my head and my sense. I think it’s the dungeon’s fault but I couldn’t tell really since no one has been sent to it since the conformation about what the dungeon did. There was a tension between everyone as we waited for the all clear about Lethia’s condition and if there is nothing to worry about. If there is a tie to the dungeon because of this it is far too dangerous to be worthwhile and the dungeon will have a far higher danger rating. But if nothing comes of it, than maybe this would be the single greatest training and ally dungeon that has ever been recorded.

I sigh slightly thinking about what I would do if that dungeon actually ends up as a danger, how I could do anything. It was such a fascinating location and it had so much to offer but if death in it was to be bound to the place. I couldn’t afford that, hell I doubt many could afford it and even less would want to even risk something like that. All of these “what if” and “we don’t know” is starting to cause as much of a headache as the mana surges do. Topping it all off is that the dragon dungeon is more active then ever before, yet no one wants to go delve and see why. Not with a new dungeon kicking around that could change everything in the guild in a heartbeat. As I was thinking everything through and just mulling it all over in my head I saw Venos sit down next to me.

“Heard that those two dragon spawns where seen flying back to the dungeon not long after you left,” He looked at me for a long moment.

“I had nothing to do with it.” there was no point in lying or even bending the truth, while two Wyverns where hardly a challenge for our group I was not so confident in doing it alone.

“Well that means either you did it or the dungeon did, and well….” that was the crux of most people’s aprehension. Even if the dungeon’s revival had no strings attached, people where worried about how strong this seemingly young dungeon was. With every show of strength the lie the guild is using to protect it from the church feels less and less like a lie.

“It just means we have to better figure out what it all means.” I nod as I nurse the drink I have with me.

“Yeah, hopefully Orkus comes back with some good news from his run.” I do quite agree with the sentiment. The nice thing about the ranger is that he does like to go off on his own and is a gossip for no reason other then he likes it. Which means that even when he disappears for a day or so he is always ready to tell exactly what he encountered during his travels. Maybe it would be worthwhile, rarely it was boring, so it was something neither of us really minded him doing.

There is a lull in the conversation but I can tell that he seems to be thinking over things, I don’t blame him. Of the three of us he bought into what the church was saying the most out of us, and he does believe in what they say, just not what they do. The sanctioning and control of dungeons especially was something he wholeheartedly believed the gods wanted. But this dungeon seems to really push back against this idea and maybe even the whole of the church. It was certainly taking a tole on him as much as the mana was taking a tole on me, but I hope he can work through it.

“You’ve been staring at the door like something is about to happen for a bit now Ava,” I jump a little as he brings me out of my thoughts. Glancing at him I can see a knowing look on his face and I shake my head.

“Sorry, with this rush of energy my….sense has been harder to not follow along with,” He cocks his head back a little and looks at the door for a long second or two. Just as he begins to turn away there is a small commotion outside of it and it opens as a few villagers rush in. There is a quite few moments as they catch their breaths before one of them, a younger man, speaks up.

“Kobolds, asking for something I can’t tell,” I quirk an eyebrow and stand, this seems to be something that needs to be addressed by adventurers or something big might go wrong.
