Chapter 2: The Time-Space Bank

The latest top-of-the-line Apple iPhone, official price: 1.688 Dollars.

Cartier classic diamond necklace, official price: 24.98 Dollars.

Ferrari limited edition Black Diamond Cheetah, market price: around 210 Dollars.

A 500-square-meter river-view penthouse in the "Tomson" shopping mall in Aethelburg City center, market price: starting from 3,000 Dollars.

Grace sat on a bench in the square, scrolling through her phone for a full two hours before finally figuring out the current reality of this world.

Almost everyone, everything, and every object remained unchanged; the only thing that had changed was the price of goods. Based on her memories of prices from her previous life, the world had depreciated by a factor of ten thousand.

In other words, the ten-Dollars check given to her by Eric's mother was equivalent to one hundred thousand Dollars in her previous life.

However, just as Grace wanted to check how much money she had now and subconsciously opened her LetsChat Wallet, she almost screamed.

She covered her mouth with her hand, her eyes wide, staring at the string of numbers after the mobile app balance: 648755.67 Dollars.

  More than 600 Thousand Dollars!

This number was familiar to Grace, because before retiring, she sold her car. The dealership transferred six installments of 100,000 Dollars each to her. Adding this to her original balance, that was the number she saw now.

Her balance had somehow reverted from age 65 to 20?

  Wait…

If her balance could do that, what about her bank cards?

Her life savings for retirement and her funeral expenses, nearly five million Dollars, were all in a single card from Construction Bank.

Her fingers trembled slightly, uncontrollably. She opened the bank card link in her LetsChat Wallet. Although she didn't remember all the card numbers, she remembered the last few digits of that card clearly.

  1069.

The screen flipped to reveal her LetsChat account linked to a single bank card, displaying the words "Time-Space Bank."

Upon seeing the last four digits of the card number, Grace's pupils dilated slightly with excitement—it was "1069"!

Recovering from her daze, she quickly switched her phone back to the home screen, where she indeed found a "Time-Space Bank" app.

This was all too surreal; nothing unexpected would surprise Grace afterward.

She opened the app. The system automatically scanned her face and logged her in. The page was remarkably simple, devoid of any unnecessary text or advertisements, displaying only Grace's name, card number, and the account balance.

This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road. If you spot it on Amazon, please report it.

  4,762,359 Dollars.

All her savings from her previous life, not a single penny less!

And in this world of global currency devaluation, her current assets, after conversion, were equivalent to—almost 5 billion!

Almost 5 billion? This number is just as niche as 7.5 rins.

September in Aethelburg was incredibly hot and humid, but Grace sat in the square until dark before finally calming herself down.

Finally, she stood up, hailed a taxi, and returned to school.

Aethelburg University of Science and Technology, Girls' Dormitory 309.

Back here, Grace stood outside the door, letting out a soft breath before pushing it open.

The latest hit single from a Korean girl group was playing in the dorm. On the left-hand bed near the door, the ordinary-looking Sofia was playing a video game with a pro player using her standard vocal cords.

At the desk under the right-hand bed, the portly Anne was engrossed in eating spicy food, her phone propped up on a stand, watching a drama.

Near the left side of the balcony, the strikingly beautiful Candy was hunched over, painting her toenails.

Grace's appearance elicited not the slightest reaction from anyone; not even a glance from them.

It was the same familiar formula, the same familiar scene.

In her previous life, she had spent four years of university in this isolated environment.

She went straight to her seat. The bunk bed with a desk underneath made Grace sigh impatiently at first glance. She noticed that most of the things on the desk and bed were gifts from Eric.

She grabbed a trash bag from the desk and, without a word, threw everything into it.

This action caused her three roommates, who had previously ignored her, to turn and look at her.

Then, the three exchanged glances, their eyes filled with suspicion.

"Tch," Candy scoffed, looking at Grace sarcastically. "What's wrong with you? These things aren't cheap. Weren't they all gifts from Eric? Did you have a fight?"

  The other two smiled smugly.

Sofia temporarily muted the game's voice chat and mocked in her real voice, "Did they break up?"

Hearing the word "break up," Candy's eyes lit up.

She couldn't wait for Grace to be dumped. Why was Grace prettier and more popular than her? Why was it that even though she met Eric first, Eric still fell for Grace?

Grace ignored them, focusing intently on rummaging through her drawer. She remembered keeping the ring Eric had given her there—where was it?

After a while, she finally found the ring at the very back. Without even glancing at it, Grace threw it into the trash bag.

Candy's smile froze, her eyes widening. "Grace, are you alright? That ring cost almost three Dollars!"

  "Do you want it?"

Grace turned to look at Candy, her face expressionless.

Candy was taken aback, and tentatively asked, "You...you really don't want it anymore?"

Grace sneered, "If you want it, go pick it out of the trash can downstairs later. Don't expect me to give it to you for free."

"You..." Candy's face flushed with embarrassment, and she blurted out indignation, "Who wants your crappy ring? Your family is dirt poor. You have the nerve to act like a big shot in front of us!"

"That's right, it's Eric who's rich, not you." Sofia echoed disdainfully, then realized she'd forgotten to turn off her voice chat, and quickly added in a low voice, "That wasn't me talking, it was my roommate. You're amazing, you got another Penta kill..."

The dormitory door was pushed open at that moment, and Maeve from the next dorm appeared in the doorway, looking at Grace excitedly, "Grace, come downstairs quickly, Eric is waiting for you with such a huge bouquet of roses."

As she spoke, Maeve exaggeratedly gestured how big "so big" was, then showed an envious expression.

Upon hearing this, Candy sprang up from her chair. Anne stopped eating, and Sofia stopped playing; the three of them crowded to the balcony window and looked down.

A large crowd had gathered below the girls' dormitory. Eric, holding a large bouquet of bright red roses, stood there, his head slightly tilted back, looking towards the window of room 309.

Candy's eyes reddened with jealousy. Her nails dug into her palms as she gritted her teeth and said, "Grace, what are you pretending for? Eric would come looking for you after you broke up?"

Grace didn't go closer to look. She tied a tight knot in the trash bag, grabbed it, and quickly left the dormitory.
