Hey everyone!
Yes, you read that right! I have decided there will be an extra release this week and next.
Meaning you will also get a chapter on this Friday and next Friday! :D
This may seem a bit out of the blue, but it's not... I wanted to share why.
After seeing a drastic drop in chapter reads the past few chapters, since chapter 12 to be specific,
I talked with some lovely folks on the RR Writer's guild Discord who helped me reflect on what might be going on.
A few possible things came up:
- The slow release scheduleI know a lot of you are used to rapid releases, but I just can't keep up with that, which has left me only posting one chapter a week, to everyones (also mine) dismay.
- The “Rahkan threat.”It was pointed out to me that the threat of Katharina being sold of to a 'Bad bad Master' (Lord Rahkan) at the end of chapter 12, to a reader, might feel like a meaningless "sidequest", as of course she has to pull through somehow. I promise you that was not my intention at all!
- Binge readers.And some readers may just be waiting to binge once this arc resolves. (I know I do that myself sometimes.)
These are all fair points!
The truth is: this arc isn't meant to reset anything. It’s about pushing forward, testing Katharina's growth under pressure and showing what she does when her stability is threatened.
Support creative writers by reading their stories on Royal Road, not stolen versions.
But I can absolutely see how, from the reader side, it might look like the story is about to rewind. That's on me for not signaling the direction clearly enough.
So, for the next two weeks, I’ll be releasing extra chapters to carry us through to the conclusion of the "Looming Rahkan Threat". To give a bit of momentum and give everyone who's stuck around (or plans to catch up) a satisfying sense of movement.
If you've been reading quietly, or paused a few chapters back, I'd really love to hear your thoughts:
- Did this part feel too slow or too disconnected from the main thread?
- What made you step back, or what would pull you back in?
- Were you one of the many who stopped at chapter 12?
You don’t have to sugarcoat it!! I genuinely want to understand how it reads on your end, not just how I see it from inside the story. (I get kinda story blind, as I know why everything is happening many chapters in advance.)
Thanks again for reading, theorizing, and caring about these characters. I know this story isn't a quick or easy one, but every comment and bit of insight helps shape it into something stronger. <3 :D
