Today marks the end of our contract with Lord Cyrus of the Daoic Kingdom. For how abrupt the termination was, we seem to be leaving on good terms, if his family crest anything to go by. As a knight, it pains me not to see an escort to his destination, but the Sergeant and Commander assured us that the rest of the snake’s trail will be secured by their fellow soldiers, and Butler should be more than enough to deal with any in-town shenanigans.
Duty is important, but Professor Kallis is holding much heavier cargo, so to speak. Given the potential risk of our new job, it’s a relief that our new clients are much more competent when it comes to protecting themselves. And given the events of these past few days, there is little doubt that the trail back to the Professor has been horribly mangled, if not outright cut. That being said, the trip back is long, so a new set of wheels is in order.

The hitmen’s massacre of Kallis’ old escorts was too clean for their benefit, according to Remington. That it only took the better half of a day, travel included was a blessing; I remember some repairs back at the Order taking a week or so. I must be really tired, though, if a little patrol car was giving me trouble. Thankfully, Lucio was more than enough muscle to handle the van.
We found everything we needed at Meirin’s, but it ended up costing more than we expected due to an incident involving Remington and his horns. I shudder to think of where we would be were it not for the Professor’s secret funds. Maybe I should have stayed to clean up, but that panda does not have the best luck when it comes to dealing with our party.
As for what our journey might have in store, I anticipate one hell of a report for The Grand Knight when we get there-
Maybe I should set some money aside for my family as well.
Lord Jesus, please look after my family in my absence.
