Kai's room
The dull morning sun penetrated through the window, Kai a 5'10 teenager with shimmering blue hair and a black hoodie on stood at the window staring into the wasteland and destruction that stood right in front of him.
Smoke rises from shattered buildings, streets littered with debris, and the remains of countless vehicles reduced to twisted metal. The faint sound of countless sirens filled the air.
The small TV on the wall played, a young woman sat behind a massive desk talking about the aftermath of the bloody halloween event.
"Authorities have confirmed that casualties exceed 12,000, with over 8,000 dead. The numbers continue to rise as emergency response teams search through the wreckage. Despite the valiant efforts of law enforcement, the monsters proved overwhelming. Evacuation processes has began in areas where the damage was at it's peak, the entire city still in shock as we all contemplate over one question. How did we lose nearly 40% of our city in one night"?
The largest scale destruction event in the history of Ashford proceeded the night before. Their intervention barely slowed the destruction, and the few who possessed the power to make a difference were too few in number.
The high-risk mission led by Mr. Zane and other dignitaries ended in complete failure. Tricked by their enemies, their efforts amounted to nothing. The chaos they fought so hard to contain spiraled far beyond their control.
Among the students involved in the operation, many were hospitalized, their injuries severe. Some, tragically, did not survive. The weight of this loss hangs heavy, marking one of the darkest nights in Ashford’s history.
Meanwhile, Dante and Kagetsu returned to their base without the seal. Their failure enraged Jinzo, the orchestrator behind much of the destruction. In the end, the chaos served no purpose the objective was not even achieved.
The night felt endless, stretching on like a week of bloodshed and despair.
Brookside High School once a prestigious institution is now nothing more than a graveyard. 90% of its staff and students succumbed to the monstrous transformation, leaving behind only a handful of survivors. What was meant to be a simple school gathering turned into a nightmare one from which most would never wake.
Despite the devastation, one beacon of resistance remained the Second Year Alpha Squad.
After an excruciating battle, they managed to wipe the city clean of monsters. But their victory came at a great cost. They did not walk away unscathed.
Landon, the last surviving member of the Third Years’ Alpha Squad, clings to life in critical condition. With his team wiped out, five of the next strongest third years have been chosen to fill the vacant spots, though whether they can uphold the legacy of their fallen predecessors remains uncertain.
As for the Vortex Order they emerged from the wreckage having suffered only one loss. Seraphina.

Now, in the wake of the devastation, paramedics and firefighters work tirelessly, combing through the destruction, tending to the injured, and extinguishing the fires that continue to rage through the city.
But no matter how much they try to mend the wounds of the city, one truth remains,
Ashford has lost too much.
Everyone is hurting.
Everyone, except for one person.
Kai
He turned his head slightly, exhaling sharply before speaking.
"So, let me get this straight."
His voice was flat, almost too casual given the gravity of the situation.
"Two thousand years ago, there was this big bad guy named Alzarel. The dude basically destroyed things for fun, killed anyone who got in his way, and was basically unstoppable."
Kai tilted his head, frowning slightly.
"But then, after like a thousand years of being a pain in the ass nature decided to fight back. It created a loophole in the balance of power. That loophole? You.
"You and eleven of your brothers. Apparently, some really powerful sorcerers decided that the best way to make sure you guys stuck around long enough to take on Alzarel was to turn you into shiny crystals."
"Then comes the Vortex Order. Over the past thousand years, these lunatics managed to find eleven of the twelve seals and destroyed them. And then, just yesterday, they set up this whole insane operation to steal the last one."
He gave a small, humorless chuckle.
"Problem is… I got in the way."
His eyes flickered downward, to his stomach.
"And now, because of some ridiculous twist of fate, instead of them destroying the last seal…"
His fingers tapped against his chest.
"…I swallowed it."
A heavy silence stretched between them before Kai glanced back up.
He raised an eyebrow.
"Did I get all that right?"
The presence within him shifted slightly.
"Well… if you put it like that…" A firm archaic voice echoed from his head you could feel the weight of his age in his voice.
"Yeah. That’s about right."
"Okay... So what's our next move ?" Kai asked.
"Well I suggest..."
Thud thud thud!
Kai's head snapped backwards looking at the door, his breath quickened his senses sharpening in an instant.
His hand swiftly swiped an empty glass jar on a table, his steps slow and calculated as he walked forward.
Thud thud thud!
The air was thick with tension, Kai could only imagine the sort of person or even creature that has come after him.
"Kai, you in there ?"
A wave of relief washed over him, his tense shoulders finally lowering as the familiar sound of the voice soothed the anxiety of his chest.
Lena.
Kai opened the door, his gaze immediately meeting Lena’s.
An average height chocolate skin girl, puffy afro hair with brown puppy dog eyes, whom Kai saved during last nights event.
She stood there in the dim light of the hallway, dressed casually in a black top and tight black jeans, with her signature jacket tied loosely around her waist.
For a moment, neither of them spoke.
A deep silence settled between them, stretching on as their eyes locked.
Kai swallowed, searching for something to say. "Hey, Lena, how—"
Before he could finish, Lena threw herself against him.
Her arms wrapped tightly around his waist, her body pressing gently against his. The warmth of her touch sent a shock through Kai’s system. His breath hitched, his arms hovering awkwardly before slowly settling around her.
His eyes widened.
The voice inside him stirred. "Would you look at that"
Kai’s fingers twitched slightly against her back. “Shut up, man.” His whisper was soft, more resigned than angry.
Lena held onto him for a few more seconds before pulling away. Her deep brown eyes searched his face, something unreadable flickering within them.
And then—
Before Kai could even process it, Lena leaned in.
She rose onto her toes, her hands gripping his shirt slightly, and in one swift motion, her lips met his.
Kai’s entire body froze.
Unlike Lena, whose eyes were softly closed his remained wide open in shock. His mind raced, heart hammering wildly in his chest.
This was not what he expected.
And yet…
He didn’t pull away.
