I turned to Saki and said “I want fish!” I then walked over and began cooking a fish. I hummed to myself about being in good company.
Saki spoke up “Tama, what the actual void! She is going to die!” I looked up at her and she was glaring at me, face in pure rage. Her tail was straight and her ears were flattened. Her eyes were twitching.
“Nya, Tristy can easily win against those spirits!” I said happily. Even as I said this, Tristy blinked into the middle of the camp, grabbed another ruin rock, held it up as the spirits got closer and burned it in front of them with an evil grin on her face before blinking even further away.
Tristy managed to avoid the spirits for just over an hour. I was expecting more, but she did fine. When one finally hit her and she lost her right arm. I told her to kill them off, she set herself on fire and ran into them. Thirty seconds later, there were no more spirits around her.
She limped over to me, heavily bruised and panting, missing her right arm and her right eye permanently closed. I looked up to her and asked “How many times did you get hit or run into walls?”
“Thirty four times sensei” She said weakly.
I nodded and said “Then do thirty four.”
I grabbed her shoulder and her right arm slowly regrew. She winced in pain as it did. Even Saki looked pained. She knew how much regrowing a body part hurt.
She then collapsed to her knees, and started doing push-ups.
Saki screamed at me “No amount of levels or power gain is worth that level of insanity Tama! I don’t care if she accepts what you're doing, I’m not going to watch a twelve year old be abused by you!”
I ignored her scream as I cooked. It was Anna who spoke. “First of all Saki, She is Tama’s slave, not yours. Second of all, Tama is actually freeing those spirits by having them killed. Thirdly SAKI” Anna said the last Saki with actual rage “Tristy’s level has gone from eight to ten during that little fiasco, and it just hit eleven!”
I said nothing, I took a bite of my fish, or I tried to when a ball of void erased my fish. I froze, and blinked in surprise. I turned to look at Saki, hand still up and pointed at me. “Tama, I understand you aren’t the best socially. I understand Tristy is your slave and your apprentice. But I can’t in good conscience let you keep torturing a child and calling it training. No matter the results! I am only going to ask this once Tama. Stop this madness, and train her in a more humane way!”
“But Tama’s sensei…” I began to say but Saki cut me off “Was clearly a great hero once, but if his training was even a quarter as cruel of this. He was insane and a madman regardless of the results!”
I froze at that and the world stood still for a moment as I heard what Saki said. Slowly, I climbed to my feet and turned to face Saki. My face was neutral as I quietly said “Take that back Saki.” my tail lashed wildly back and forth and my ears twitched. I stared intently into her eyes and she flinched.
Saki took a step back but tensed herself and held her ground “No! What you went through was a travesty and I am not going to watch a child get martyred because of your horrible past Tama!”
Anna flowed off of me and swam to Tristy. She attached to Tristy. Moments later, Tristy began to heal at an alarming rate. She finished her push-ups and slowly stood as well. She turned to Saki and unlike my neutral face, Tristy looked pissed.
Slowly, I took Serenity off and handed her gently to Tristy who accepted her reverently. I then turned to Saki and blinked. My punch landed directly in her gut, she had no time to react as she was thrown into the air. I jumped, she tried to move but there was no time. I grabbed her and twirled in the air gaining momentum before I threw her with all my might towards the lake.

Saki wasn’t even able to get a void-bolt or anything summoned. I landed and a moment later I heard the splash of Saki hitting the water hard. I gently grabbed Serenity from Tristy and in an emotionless voice said “Make sure Saki is okay, and make sure she knows her place before she comes back.”
Tristy smiled with glee and bowed “It would be my pleasure sensei.” She then turned, and rushed towards the lake. Anna attached to her and hung on as her own mini gi.
I made my way to the lakeside. I was so happy to finally be able to put that traitorous Saki in her place! Mistress Tama was angrier than I had ever seen her. I wonder how far I would go before I would be punished? I sadly knew Saki’s death would not be allowed… but a few missing limbs?
I reached the edge of the lake right as Saki jumped out of the water, her face full of rage as she used her wind affinity to move quickly on the water to reach land. She didn’t even know how to blink.
Anna rushed over to her and Saki attempted to shoot a void ball at Tama's glorious pet, but her pet dodged, then attached to Saki. Anna healed Saki completely to my shock. But it made sense, this must be a test from my Mistress, fight Saki even at three levels higher and fully healed. I accepted this and would win! I got myself into a fighting stance as Anna jumped off Saki and moved to the side. Leaving us both to fight.
Mistress Tama appeared, she looked detached from reality. She turned to Saki and said “Saki, it doesn’t have to be this way. Please take back what you said.”
Saki growled at Mistress Tama with rage and fired a void bolt at her. Mistress Tama sidestepped the ball easily and sighed.
She turned to me and said “Go all out, defend sensei’s honor!”
I nodded obediently, I would not fail sensei ever!”
Saki growled at me and her body suddenly began to shift, she grew shorter and shorter and white hair grew all over her body. I frowned and summoned a ball of fire. But Mistress Tama held up a hand for me to wait, so I did.
Saki slowly turned into a small white fox, which then began to grow, her single fox tail splitting into nine and her eyes turning red. She was not just slightly shorter than me as a nine-tailed fox. I realized as rage filled me even further. She was Mistress Tama’s animal companion and she still had the nerve to deny her!?
Her nine tails coated themselves in earthen spikes and one of them launched at me. I dodged and looked at Mistress Tama. She did not say I could fight. So I continued to dodge Saki’s attacks. After about a minute Mistress Tama finally nodded and I dodged around and sliced down. Cutting one of Saki’s tails off at the edge. I used my fire to push through her defenses and slice to the other side. Searing it shut as I did so it couldn’t heal.
Saki opened her mouth and I thought she might cry out in pain, instead a burst of orange flame that was clearly spiritual I nature came towards me. I stepped forward and tanked the flame with my own and barely won. But it was draining, I could not take a second hit like that. I blinked multiple times towards Saki, dodging her tails as best I could. A few of them clipped me and left large gashes across my skin.
I didn’t care, I pushed through, used my flames to seal my wounds even as they were made. Suddenly as I reached her Saki opened her mouth, except this time a ball of purple appeared and fired at me. I didn’t have time to dodge so I braced myself for the hit, but it never came. Instead, I was suddenly standing thirty feet away from Saki.
Mistress Tama was standing next to Saki and had her by the throat. Saki was using all nine of her tails to pierce Tama, and I watched in awe as mistress Tama took the hits and simply healed from them near instantly.
There was a moment of silence as Saki quickly realized her tails were doing nothing to Mistress Tama and tried to breath the flame on her. Mistress Tama took the hit and stood there, unmoving. The flames slowly died into nothing and Mistress Tama remained unscathed.
I stared in awe at her majesty and wonderfulness. Mistress Tama let go of Saki and Saki took multiple steps back, growling at Mistress Tama.
Mistress Tama stared down the foul Saki and spoke to her. I couldn’t hear what was said. But my goddess knows no bounds, she was most likely telling the worthless traitor that only death awaited her!
The traitor began to shift, and after a few seconds she was in her Foxkin form again. A sneaky lying cheat. Then Saki yelled something at Mistress Tama. “How dare you, after everything!”
Mistress Tama did not respond, she simply looked at Saki meaningfully. Saki fell to her knees and began to sob. Mistress Tama reached down to grab Saki, but Saki pushed her hand away. I raged at her arrogance and stomped forward. But Mistress Tama looked at me and shook her head.
She then turned, said something else to Saki I couldn’t hear and blinked next to me. She picked me up. She had tears in her eyes. Saki’s betrayal deserved death! I opened my mouth to say that but a glare from my Mistress silenced me.
She blinked again and we were back in camp. She walked over to the campfire. She grabbed a fish out of her bag and began to cook it. Her hands shook and the fish fell in the fire. She didn’t try to grab it, she just coddled into a ball and began to cry. Her tail wrapped around her legs and her ears furrowed. She sobbed into the dirt.
