Prologue

A faint smell of decay lingered in the air of the dusty and moss-ridden crypt where the coffin rested. If the complete darkness of the underground were to be dispelled, one would witness the dilapidated stone walls that bordered the tomb, the ancient tabards that adorned the walls and the rusty torch-bearing emplacements of old. The place had been apparently abandoned centuries ago and none but the rodents of the area seemed to have visited the tomb. Nevertheless, a keen modern visitor would have wondered at the existence of the elliptical carving that surrounded the coffin. An array of ancient symbols seemed to both protect and isolate the coffin from the rest of the chamber. A bizarre mix of concentric hexagonal symbols lay on the coffin along with the Etruscan and Latin inscriptions engraved in the marble floor of the room. The coffin also seemed out of place, vastly more ancient and archaic than the entire sepulcher. It closely resembled an Ancient Egyptian sarcophagus except for its dark obsidian exterior that grew even darker into the constant obscurity.

A blood red light suddenly pulsed from within the coffin illuminating the room. The satin banners crumbled into dust while a sudden wind stirred the whole room. It seemed to blow in and out of the closed room magically, dust falling like snow around the room. The sound of breathing englobed the whole room. Clearly, something was waking and with it the world was doomed to change.
