Dhaga watched as a clear sphere filled with dark content approached him. He would normally be terrified of such a thing but, given its similarity to his orb, the naga wasn’t worried one bit. He was more curious to see what the Leviathan was about to grant him. He was already given the orb and the trident which had granted him the powers needed to contribute to the war. Any additional gifts should push him to an entirely different level. The sphere came in contact with the naga’s body before it turned into a slime-like substance.
Seeing how it wraps around my body, this must be body armor.
Once the slime solidified, the naga had to admit that he was quite disappointed with the armor’s appearance. He was expecting something that would match the look of his trident but, instead, he got himself a chainmail armor that covered his entire body and half of his tail. It offered his neck some protection too. In terms of appearance, it looked no different from chainmail armor worn by many nagas.
Is there nothing special about this armor?
Dhaga spent a whole minute staring at the armor but he felt nothing incredible about it. He was certain that he was wrong as the Leviathan couldn’t possibly just give him something lacking any special traits. He then looked to the Leviathan, hoping for an explanation.
That is all! Head into battle knowing you have your brand new armor. It won’t showcase any of its powers until you’re in combat. If you don’t get harmed, then you might never know its secrets. Go now!
The naga reluctantly left with no knowledge of what his armor was capable of. The other orb owners had already returned to their positions so he did the same with Cridror and Cridraw on the flank. When they returned, the nagas cheered as soon as they saw him swim by. Their cheers and words of encouragement really warmed his heart, giving him the satisfaction that he was finally making a difference. Despite all the Kraken followers that still remained opposite them on the battlefield, the morale of the nagas had stabilized.
If we hope the morale remains strong, then we must continue winning victories. That’s what makes this battle so tough. Our enemies just need one victory to win the war while we must keep defying the odds.
Hearing Cridror’s words, Dhaga wondered if they could last that long. When a horn sounded, the naga turned to see Kraken followers advancing on their position. The Kraken had been reorganizing its ranks to prepare for the next phase of its attack.
Just another phase….

Dhaga took the lead for the flank as it kept up with the naga center. After scanning the center, he was almost certain that the center was fewer ranks deep than before. Losses were unavoidable at this stage and they couldn’t replenish in such a short time. Nor did they possess the numbers to replenish the losses they had suffered so far. The Kraken had been pretty relentless in its attacks, giving the nagas very little time to regroup.
Time for us siblings to shine!
Both Cridror and Cridraw broke from the formation. Dhaga had seen both of them in action individually so he was certain their actions would create a whirlpool of some sort. The two orcas were in sync initially but, before long, he watched Cridror pushed out from the whirlpool. He swam up to the orca in puzzlement, wondering what had gone wrong.
We were merely out of sync. I’m a lot weaker than him right now.
How? Does the seal no longer apply to him?
Maybe you changed something when you went through the portal last time. Either the seal isn’t there anymore or it’s a lot weaker. Regardless of the cause, my brother is a lot stronger than I am and that will only benefit us.
As Cridror spoke, her brother made the whirlpool bigger until it was about half the size of the Leviathan. While Cridraw wasn’t quite at full strength, at least compared to what Dhaga saw in the whale realm, this development was a welcomed one, especially when the orca sent the whirlpool at the advancing Kraken followers. The Kraken ranks stopped upon seeing the whirlpool and routed as soon as the followers saw the whirlpool heading their way. The whirlpool picked up speed quickly as it easily crashed into the Kraken followers, slaughtering any unfortunate souls that got too close. The second attack sent by the Kraken was halted before it even made any progress. The nagas cheered as the second victory came so easily. For Dhaga, he was just processing what Cridror was saying.
Does that mean any new orcas I summon will also be even stronger, maybe half as strong as they were in the whale realm?
I don’t know but, if that’s indeed the case, the Kraken is in trouble. He cannot possibly keep up with what you can do each day due to the caliber of each additional orca you bring to the battlefield. Even if the Kraken had the numbers, such losses will impact their morale which is the most critical thing in defeating them.
For the future of the nagas, I sure hope this is the case. I cannot see how else we can contribute enough so the Guardian doesn’t have to participate before the Kraken makes its move.
Cridraw returned and the naga asked the orca how he was doing.
That was a good warmup! I also think I got the attention of the Kraken. He cannot be pleased with what has transpired. Let me go out against the next group sent out. I want to strike fear in all of the Kraken followers.
Dhaga could already see Kraken soldiers reforming new ranks while those that routed were killed on the spot. Despite the cruelty exhibited by the Kraken, he knew such actions ensured that no other follower would dare to withdraw without the Kraken’s permission. They meant little to the Kraken and death awaited them if they dared to disobey. To the Kraken, this was just a numbers game where a battle of attrition suited it just fine.
