Chapter 6: Rest

I spent about 20 minutes floating back to the room that I started as since it seemed to be the safest place to rest, I was starting to get tired even though I've only been up… well alive for several hours and it’s almost like I've been working a full shift back on earth. As I was getting round the corner I caught a glimpse if the merrow from earlier walking back the way the came. I quickly hide in a shade torch until they strolled a couple of feet past me, then left towards the little room. Quickly turning down the halls I made it back to the room to find a shade torch sitting on the wall when it wasn’t there before.

(Dark): “Shade can I ask why you put a shade torch I this room? I distinctly remember there not being one here before.”

(Shade): “That's because I thought you’d be excessively tired since your a wisp. After all most wisps only stay awake a couple of hours a day usually four hours due to their low vitality. It’s strange that you were able to stay awake as long as you have, little Darkness.”

(Dark): “I must be because I've leveled up recently that I was able to stay awake” *yawn* “Sorry I must be more tired than I thought. But why did you put a shade torch if you thought I was tired?”

(Shade): “Wisps can rest on any location but a shade torch hides them, keeping them safe from those that might attack them. Little Darkness that's why I place a new shade torch in this room, since I notice you have a tendency to return here.”

  (Dark): “Thank you Shade.”

I waft myself through the air towards the torch settling into it, finding that it's more comfortable that I thought it would be. I never notice before since I was too busy trying to hide from the dungeon divers too even gave some thought to it.

My mind slowly drifts from consciousness falling to sleep rather fast. Back when I was in Earth I suffered from insomnia and couldn’t sleep unless I tried but here, I must have only started trying to sleep for 5 minutes before I passed out. I didn’t dream and I didn’t seem to have a nightmare but I distinctly remember seeing, hearing and doing nothing but feeling a sense of urgency for something I just can’t know.

When I woke up I still had that feeling of urgency but I pushed it to the back of my mind. I asked Shade how long I was asleep and he said I'd been asleep for 16 hours which surprised me

I thought about what Shade said about wisps having low Vitality and decided that I'd need to improve it if I wanted to stay awake long enough to do anything substantial. With some new renewed vigor I moved to find some way to gain AEXP. I would go and find some goblins but they vanish as they die so I can’t gain any AEXP from them, I could go for skeletons but Shade might take that as betrayal, although I could ask.

I decided to ask shade if I could get a couple of skeletons to train but unsurprisingly he basically told me to fuck off. He can’t let me train with his skeletons since he needs them to defend the dungeon, at most he could spare one skeleton. I asked if you could spare a zombie to train and he said he couldn’t since I was to far from them in the dungeon. I asked if he could create some shade glass for me but I was told it was only something that grows in shade dungeons at random and not something he can create. I ran out of ideas on how to gain AEXP and decided to roam around, looking for some shade glass and anything else I could get AEXP from. I did decide to leave the shade torches though since they could be my only defence sometimes.

I spend about 2 hours looking around the dungeon halls that I have been down before and I only managed to find 3 pieces of shade glass gaining 803 AEXP. I ran out of places I had been to and decided to look down some of the other hall ways. Since I was nearer where I defeated the goblin, I decided to hover down the path I saw the goblins come from I found 3 more hallways after about 5 minutes. I went down the one that was straight in front of me ignoring the 2 on my left side. When I reached the end of the hall I found a large room with another hall at the end. When I looked around this room I could see skeletons clinging to the walls and roof while masked in the shadows since there was few torches on the walls. When I looked through out the room I found another 2 pieces of shade glass gaining another 596 AEXP and a strange mushroom.

I was a about to eat the mushroom without thinking but as I was about to use Entropic mist it dawned on me what the description said. As soon as I plucked it from the stone floor and put it into my inventory I zoomed back the way I can and returned the room I've started to think as mine. Once I got there I put the mushroom on the floor and watched it root itself to the floor, which was a little surprising but I did find it growing on a stone floor.

I started to think how I was going to farm it, based on its description it can grow on its own in a mana dense place like a dungeon. Since it only needs mana why don’t I try and infuse some mana into it to force its growth. A little uncertain about what I was trying to do, I started to pull some mana from my reserves and tried to put in on the shroom, it didn’t work and I used about 20 mana as well. I started to think how it would be absorbed by the shroom but I simply can’t think of how it would be.

I realised I'm an idiot, I've read stories where you drawn energy into yourself to recover faster maybe if I try infusing in a similar way I'd get it. As soon as I tied infusing by pushing the mana into what I can only sense as the mushrooms mana I noticed it start to grow and split, I now have 2 mana shrooms growing on the floor. I was happy that it worked and even more so with the windows that popped up.

I was glad about gaining new skills and was even more ecstatic about meditation being synchronized with my Wisp Arts. As I checked my mana to see how much I used I found I only used 100 mana to grow a second mana shroom. I decided to start farming the mana shrooms and by the end of my first hour I had managed to get 5 more shrooms, I used meditation while sitting in the shade torch when I ran out of mana just incase someone can here. I also put a shroom in my inventory incase someone that came stole my mushrooms. After I gathered 3 of the 6 mushrooms I started to eat them but I was met with an interesting trade window.

I didn’t hesitate since I haven’t tested to see if I could increase my mana pool with AEXP. After finishing the trade I started to eat the other 2 I planned on eating only be be pleasantly met with the same trade twice. I was so much more glad I decided to farm these instead of just gain AEXP from that first one. After I finished all of the trades I put all my mana into the 3 shrooms remaining gaining 4 more shrooms since my mana limit is now 450.

I eat another one trading for more mana, then I split the mushrooms up throughout the room hoping that will they will grow faster that way without me.

Shade asked me what I was doing and when I asked how he didn’t notice till now he said he was managing a boss fight. I told him that I was farming the mana shrooms, when I did he started laughing and said that I'm very interesting. As he calmed down he started to talk seriously to me.

(Shade): “Little Darkness, if you could farm for me 50 mana shrooms I would be very grateful.”

I was filled with glee that I managed to get a quest and have quite a bit of rewards.

  (Dark): “Deal!”
