Chapter 10: Emergency

When I got up today I more or less started to do the same thing I've been doing since I found the mana shrooms. I infused the 200 shrooms with my mana 4 times so I'd have 1000 mana shrooms planted throughout the room, when I did Shade asked me if I'm going to complete the quest he gave me. I told him to hold I'd not do that for now since I was planning to do something ‘stupid’. Leaving me to my own devices, I went to meditate for roughly 50 minutes to fully recover my mana. My goal for today is to get to 1,000,000 and get as much AEXP as I could from farming. After I'd finished my my first round infusing the 1000 mana shrooms I consumed them all gaining 50,000 max mana. I ended up repeating this once again but I only needed to meditate 40 minutes to recover enough.

Once I gained the next 50,000 I started get into a rhythm where I'd spend 25 minutes recovering enough mana to double the about of mana shrooms. After that I'd spend 50 minutes recovering mana, split and consume the shrooms for 50% of my max mana increase and follow with spending 30-40 minutes meditating to split the shrooms again, eating them for the same mana increase. I managed to repeat this cycle 2 only using 4 and a half hour since I got up and I have almost already got 1,000,000. I had 800,000 and I only needed to split the shrooms once more to gain them.

I infused and split the 4000 shrooms practically covering the walls, floor and ceiling, but instead of absorbing them I stored them for later in my inventory. Splitting them again I started to consume them for AEXP, after consuming 4000, mana shrooms I gained a large 800,000 AEXP since I had so much I was about to try upgrading my mana regen so I could be even faster. As my selected my mana regen, a window finally popped up asking me if I'd like to trade 250,000 AEXP to improve my mana regen. I smiled to myself and upgraded my regen. Within that instance I could feel the instant change, it was substantial. The only way to describe it was like drinking water when you're thirsty and didn’t know it. I tried with the health and it upgraded, for the same cost. The feeling was similar but it was like stretching your body when in pain to feel all that pain vanish leaving you feeling refreshed.

I tried to upgrade mana regen again but I got the familiar window saying I don’t have enough AEXP. I tried with the health and it upgraded just fine, for the same cost. The feeling was similar but it was like stretching your body when in pain to feel all that pain vanish leaving you feeling refreshed.

I didn’t know what I wanted to do with the remaining AEXP for now even though it could be a massive improvement. Instead I split the 4000 shrooms by infusing them again, gaining AEXP from them. As I was thinking it over I decided to try and create more spells while I think it over.

During the hour I spent thinking I ended up creating 4 new abilities, which I think will help me a lot more than my current spells. It turns out that in order to make better spells I need INT and WIS to make different combinations.

I’m kind of eager to test out these new spells, but I'm still farming. As I was about to open my stats screen to use my AEXP, since I decided what to do, Shade started talking to me. I almost froze since I could here the panic in his voice he’s trying to hide.

(Shade): “Little Darkness, we have an emergency a creature ive never seen before is rampaging through the dungeon. It’s something called a Troll apparently and it's not even flinching to getting attacked by mye skeletons and zombies. I need all the help I can get to stop it. Go to that large room you’ve passed before and wait there for it.”

(Dark): “Did you happen to get a look at it’s level?”

I didn’t get a response, this must be serious then. As I left the room I floated down the halls, noticing that I'm moving a lot faster than I did before. Passing the halls I noticed that there was a couple merrow jogging beside some skeletons and when I got to the large open room I noticed that there was a couple merrow, skeletons and some zombies. I was a little taken aback by the zombies since there was no human zombies, just merrow and something lizard like. In total there was 23 monsters in this room staring at the hall in the far end. I was a little worried since the merrow were here too. But they seemed to be helping out as well. I'll have to ask Shade later.

Suddenly a window sprang into existence in front of me. Making me think this is really bad if its like that.

As I close the window a large man like beast climbs through the halls doorway. As soon as he is through I notice, he is twice as large as the tallest merrow in the room, this head seems malformed and he’s chewing own the corpse of a merrow. Looking closer the merrow is still alive it just can't move. I don’t know what came over me in that instance but I immediately used wind blade to slice the merrow in half. Bursting into light as the troll was chewing its leg, I noticed that some of the merrow were relived. The troll on the other hand is clearly mad it's stared at the small army littering the room and started to walk forward. I finally got within range to use observe on it, I can understand why Shade didn’t say anything now.

As the troll started to charge towards us, the skeletons stood in front of the merrow bracing themselves for the attack. While the merrow with spears stood ready and pointed there spears at the troll, the merro with swords ran to the left of the troll, and the zombies went to the right. I floated above the troll and prepared to attack, I started to charge my mana blast with 10,000 mana since I didn't want to kill my allies. Thankfully no-one noticed me thanks to Nonexistence and while they were steadily attacking the troll it took large swings. No merrow was hit but a few skeletons and a couple of zombies were destroyed, scattered through the room.

Once my mana blast was fully charged I fired it at the troll. As it hit I could see the troll being crushed to the floor. It was a glancing blow since I use enough mana to cause too much mental strain I couldn’t focus enough. The blast tore of the trolls left arm and broke its left leg. It’s bloodless limbs scattered and turned to dust, at the same time its body was flung down and to the right side of it. Its body cracked the ground and with it still knocked down, everyone was shocked. Nobody even noticed my till that point cause of my power but as soon as I attacked they all realised I was there. Before everyone could regain their senses the troll roared and stood up. It’s leg had healed but its left arm was slowly re-growing. It stared at me as it screamed again, unknowingly waking everyone from there shock.

Everyone attacked again but I had to recover, I was still in pain from using so much mana at once. While the troll got distracted I started to meditate to relieve my mental strain a little. While I was meditating I noticed that the merrow were starting to get worn down, none died yet but they were all hurt, unable to fight for much longer. Having recovered a little I started to send out lesser heals to every merrow in the room and a few zombies that had broken limbs. As soon as the first hit, the merrows looked at me healing them and seemed to nod. The troll saw this and looked at me curiously before screaming and trying to swipe at me with its half regrown arm. I floated to the side and used flash blade, slicing through its arm in an instant. As its arm flew from its shoulder again I floated away using wind bolt several times knocking the troll to the floor. When it was down all the merrow with swords jumped and stabbed it’s head, the zombies tore at its legs, skeletons were tearing at its arm while the spear merrow recovered.

I was suffering from the mental strain still but I was getting use to it. As soon as the troll roared again, it started to flail its arms throwing everyone still near it around the room. As one merrow was about to get crushed as the troll stood up I used mana barrier to protect and push the merrow away just in time. The troll was heavily injured and its wounds were healing a lot slower than earlier. Healing all those that were injured I get an idea, if it doesn’t work I'm done for if it does it’s going to save the day.

Launching a corrosion bolt at the troll's chest I fly as fast as I can covering myself with a mana barrier, I smash into its chest and use flash blade, spinning as fast as I can tearing its organs apart and rip my way through the beast's back. Stumbling forward the troll’s wounds are trying to heal and I charge back in,still with the buried up I fire corrosion bolts inside this poor beast before drifting out. As the troll falls back I float up to the ceiling trying to clear my head from the mental strain. I look back down and see the troll still trying to move. Everyone charges at the troll while it can’t move and tear it to shreds literally.

As the troll breathes its last breath, everyone starts to cheer. The merrow are dancing, the skeletons and seemingly singing and the zombies are quietly hugging. Before everyone starts to calm down a couple of windows pop up.

  [a]

Suddenly all the merrow vanished in a blinding light similar to what happened when they are killed by the dungeon and its inhabitants. Smiling away at my self with the new level up I selected upgrade stat again. I tried selecting G.WIS but a message popped up saying my G.WIS isn’t high enough to upgrade. Cause it wasn’t able to improve I planned on improving INT instead. Just as I was about to improve INT Shade started talking to me as I pressed a button.

(Shade): “Little Darkness, how did you do that? That troll was more that 20 times higher level than you. It should have even been possible for you to do what you did. How did you, not only deal substantial damage but also change the tide of battle without even getting hit? Explain how.”

I flew as fast as I could back to the little room of mine before I even dared speak. Once there I decided I should say everything about how I'm as strong as I am.

(Dark): “You know how I'm reincarnated right? Well when I got reincarnated a window appeared to me saying I've been given a power and something else that keeps getting blocked from my mind when I try to think about it. Anyway the power I got was a skill called EXP convert...”

(Shade): “You got a rare skill but that should have made you a higher level by now since you've fought the merrow. It still doesn’t explain why you are this strong.”

(Dark): “Don’t interrupt please, plus I was just getting to that. The skill itself is a variant which doesn’t allow me to convert to EXP but to a system that affects me called attribute EXP or AEXP. I can gather AEXP from consuming things and can use the AEXP to improve my stats. The main reason I'm this strong is because I found out I could farm the mana shrooms by infusing mana into them...”

(Shade): “So you have been gather this AEXP from the mana shrooms and improving your stats?”

(Dark): “Stop interrupting. You guessed right but. I'm only as strong as I am because I found that I can always gain a permanent 50 max mana from them as well if I forfeit the AEXP.”

A pressure that I didn’t even notice was there suddenly lifted. Shade seemed to be thinking something since he was mumbling to himself.

(Shade): “After our deal is done you have to leave, your mana will get to high and attract stronger and stronger creatures and I can’t risk that.”

(Dark): “Ok Shade. I'll leave when the deal is finished.”

I decided to keep my Nonexistence skill a secret since it could cause more trouble for me. When I finally finished talking to shade I looked around the room and realised I just selected one of the stats to be improved. When I opened my stats I was a little shocked at what one I improved but at least it's still a useful one. I couldn’t be bothered doing anything other than resting right now.

Just as I was going to go to sleep I eat 4000 mana shrooms boosting my max mana up to 1,000,200. I passed out as the windows popped up. I'll have to see them tomorrow.
