“Sigh… The greater the hope, the greater the disappointment.”
“When will I ever have a decent employee to share my workload…”
Lying there with his eyes shut, William reached up and rubbed his forehead vigorously with one hand.
After a few minutes, he stopped, opened his eyes again, and had already composed himself.
With an expressionless face, he raised his right hand and swiped. A blue translucent interface lit up before him.
“Today’s suffering is for tomorrow’s reward. In the end, I can only rely on myself.”
He tapped into the memo app, opened the to-do list, and casually scrolled through the interface.
Quickly skimming over the countless research projects that had been stalled for decades,
as well as a mountain of tasks that had been paused halfway due to various interruptions.
Page after page, densely packed.

Very soon, William found a task that hadn't been halted due to some insurmountable issue.
He reached out and tapped on:
[On improving Zerg energy intake and conversion efficiency, digestive system optimization... (Incomplete)]
Then once again dove headfirst into his work.
Over two months later, William was now standing in an isolated incubation chamber.

Before him stood a giant purplish-red cocoon, over 3.5 meters tall.
The fleshy cocoon wall was covered in web-like veins of green and gray.
This was the form the larva took after forming a chrysalis inside a hatchery that had undergone three stages of extraordinary evolution.
At that moment, the giant cocoon began to tremble slightly—a sign that the creature inside had awakened.
“Shrrkk…”
A soft tearing sound echoed as the fleshy membrane was ripped apart from the inside.
The purplish-red cocoon, over 3.5 meters in height, was torn open by the creature within.
A Zergling, evolved through three extraordinary transformations, emerged from the cocoon.
If… it could still be called a Zergling at this point.
Its appearance had noticeably changed from before.
Although the main torso and overall structure remained mostly intact,
due to the influence of the [Green-Winged Serpent] gene card,
its once powerful and muscular arms and scythe-like limbs had become even larger and more elongated.
A membrane now stretched between those limbs,
forming a pair of large, fleshy wings reminiscent of those of a bat.
They hadn’t sprouted separately from its back, as William had originally assumed.
Through his psychic sense, William examined the creature's genetic structure.
He quickly pinpointed the reason—after all, the Green-Winged Serpent’s original form
was a snake with a pair of fleshy wings.
Once its flight-enabling extraordinary genes were embedded into the Zergling's genetic template,
they had naturally and smoothly fused with the limbs.
All William had to do was slightly tweak the genetic segment governing the Zergling's arms,
and he could fully optimize the adaptation, allowing the Green-Winged Serpent’s genes to function at their peak.
Aside from that, the Zergling’s tail—previously wrapped tightly in ring-like bony armor—
had become much thicker and slightly bloated due to the influence of the [Stone-Skinned Python] gene card.
The once thin-looking bone armor now bore a grayish, rough texture.
It gave off an impression of being denser and more solid.
Even the surface showed scale-like patterns similar to those found on snakes.
However, this new tail looked somewhat mismatched compared to the relatively slender torso.
Additionally, the Zergling now exhibited a few more visible snake-like traits:
Its eyes had vertical slitted pupils,
and a thin, forked tongue protruded from its mouth—changes that didn’t serve much practical function.
