  I am sure that you have heard of this deeply disturbing case but here follows the Course of events and the actions we have taken to catch the perpetrators so far

  Over a month ago there was a rash of reports from the Faulstadt of mysterious goings on possibly cult related as there were rumors of secret rooms and unauthorized forays into the sewer system (I am sure you were aware of this before ourselves). This has echoes of the lead up to the last invasion in 2499, so as you can imagine we got straight to it!

  There were also several gruesome murders involving one lady of the night called Lizzie Stragnof from kislev originally, who was brutally stabbed to death. Then one construction worker called Bryant Hofsteader who was disemboweled, yet there was no blood splatter or evidence of the crime taking place where the corpse was found. Another victim was found a few days after in the same poor area of with his head removed and not to be found in that immediate area like you would expect if it was a crime of passion.

  The lieutenant in charge of the night shift reported that it was just muggings gone badly wrong and side effect of the massive building projects taking place south of the Industrielplatz beyond the main city walls.

  These sites are spread over several leagues and include the massive expansion of the Artillery workshops and the Richtofen foundry making them prime sites for pimps their girls, dealers of the more exotic substances, street food vendors and tricksters. This makes it one of our more challenging beats for petty crime we pick up three or four pickpockets along with the grab bag of drunks and idiots.

  I have heard that this new sprawl will increase the volume of metal and the number or weapons being produced in this city by a margin of twenty percent!

  Though I assume you would be in a better position to judge this than me! There are many other concerns and manufactories either in the process of being constructed or are already producing their 'products' in this area as well.

  The stink from this and the other dirty activities in those areas have produced an even worse problem than usual, making it seems like a smoky hell straight from the dreaded wastes!

  This has disrupted the normal crime networks and gangs that haunted the old district normally with an influx of criminals from other cities and the countryside. So there have been many fights and gang wars going on with as you are surley aware many deaths.

  They are often started at the behest of the new class of industrial magnate as cover for their own activities. These men also employ what amounts to their own personal armies often armed with the latest weapons and the finest armour. They all claim that these forces are 'guarding' their property and persons from rivals in public at least.

  This disturbs me as it puts military power into the hands of those who could be bent to the power of chaos! This makes my job and that of my fellow watchmen that much harder and I petition you to counsel the Countess against letting these base men have any more power than they already have!

  I digress, the crimes at first seemed like they had no connection beyond the turmoil that infests that part of our fair city. However it has become evident that there was one two weeks after the initial reports. This made it much harder to trace the witnesses hence the length of this investigation each fresh crime leading us in circles!

  There was the suspicion growing in my mind that I knew at the heart of it what foe we faced. We received confirmed reports that there have been attempts to interfere with city workers and the sewer watch. Nothing has been seen but the obvious answer is that the Skaven have come back in enough numbers to test our defenses again! There are others, it could be as we first thought some kind of Chaos cult activity?

  The city workers were excavating a new sewer network connecting to the older sections to service the new construction, to get rid of that stink I hope!

  This project is to take the waste away from the rivers and to the treatment plant that is being constructed downstream on the main river Reik. It seems like a waste of city funds to me! This obsession with clean water extends to the construction of a larger aqueduct as well! Coming from the Black hills north of the city of all places!

  I cannot fathom why the water would be better coming from there? I hear that they are also constructing a massive dam and pumping system to get the water here!

  Why these funds are not being spent on the sinews of war or on our vital force for order are above my pay grade!

  The work on the sewers is progressing quickly I am told with aide of the engineers from Greypeak and the Nulun College as well. The pace is astounding! Over 6 miles of tunnels completed by the writing of this report!

  There have been several unconfirmed encounters with the Ratmen though only in passing and never in force. This is I am afraid subject to change with no notice at all with those creatures as you well know my lord!

  So at this point we are at a standstill until we can cath these murderous scum at their trade!
