Fate Breaker

  Chapter 47– Fate Breaker

A whistle of wind blows throughout the calm nightlife of Hostia. The nobility of the city laughed and enjoyed themselves. The faces of these nobles with nothing but happiness.

A disgusting contrast to the other side of Hostia— the “common folk”.

Wooden houses covered in a red “paint.” It was indeed not paint, but blood of an unfortunate soul.

A man, with tattered clothes walked across a bridge. The bridge was the connection between the Military Headquarters and noble section of Hostia, with the common folk’s area. The man stepped off the bridge, placing his foot onto the stone pathway in front of the Headquarters.

*This is it. The lavish ‘palace’ which the military resides in…I wonder if I too, could-* His thoughts were abruptly interrupted by the step of a foot.

“Hello.” A man with a calm and soothing voice spoke. His class was the highest of nobility, with no doubt. His clothing glimmered with the assistance of the moonlight. His hair fit him perfectly. Dark blond, slicked back hair with a few strands undoing in the front. Giving him a messy slick backed look whilst looking elegant.

“Who are you?” The man of elegance spoke, raising a question to the poor man.

“My name is Victor, apologies for disturbing you on this night.” Victor spoke with nervousness and a relentless feeling of being judged.

“I’m Wilhelm.” Wilhelm walked past him and stood at the center of the bridge, walking forward a bit so he could lean over the bridge slightly, overviewing the beautiful river below him as the calm current flowed.

“Won’t you come? I’m inviting you to speak.” Wilhelm’s face, still covered by a shroud of darkness turned to Victor.

Victor reluctantly nodded, coming to Wilhelm, the pair stood at the bridge looking at the water.

Silence overcome them as Victor was too shy to speak, so Wilhelm took it upon himself to break it.

“Dearest apologies, but, the clothing you wear is pitiful. What happened to you that such a state of outfit wear has befallen you?” Wilhelm spoke with pity, mixed with disgust.

Victor looked at Wilhelm and looked down at his own feet. His mouth opened as he struggled to let out a sound.

This story originates from a different website. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there.

  “I..”

He swallowed what was left of his pride.

“I was a miner for Laveton, I even went to Velarun and mined there. I brought all types of gems and materials to Hostia for the Empire to use. Hell, I even was conscripted as a soldier when I was younger.” Victor looked at his rough callouses. “It all changed around 6 years ago.”

“I’m not a noble, as you can clearly see.” He let out an awkward chuckle. “I’m a common man, my Soul Pact isn’t that great, it’s a support type. Its ability is to give morale to people through my own emotions. I can give a chunk of my happiness or whatever emotion to people basically.”

Wilhelm looked at the sky as Victor continued on.

“The military thought it was useless, so I was laid off. My wife left after I had 0 income, most jobs won’t take me because of the fact I was laid off. The ones that do take me give me bare minimum, I can only afford housing with zero money left for food or clothing.” Victor looked at Wilhelm.

Wilhelm’s face, the moonlight now uncovering his bottom half. Showing his chin full of hair, his pink lips now quivering downwards, filled with disgusting. Wilhelm’s nose slightly flared.

“In a world built on the ideals of strength and class, you are the bane of it. You wonder why nobody will take you? Because you have nothing to give. The only morale my soldiers need— is me.” Wilhelm’s full face was uncovered.

His skin was of any impurities. As for his eyes?

  Victor thought to himself.

*His eyes.. they’re like ruby. So red and vibrant-*

  drip….

Victor looked down and seen both of Wilhelm’s arms impaled through his chest— specifically targeting his lungs.

Wilhelm’s eyes filled with rage and disgust, he teared his arms out as Victor fell to his knees, all attempts of breathing failed as the oxygen was exhaled through the gaping holes in his chest.

*My life. Everything I had is gone just like this?*

  …

  *Why?*

  …

Wilhelm stepped off the bridge, facing the Military Headquarters.

kzzzt! A telepathic connection was linked!

*Lord Emperor Wilhelm! Aurelian has entered your thirtieth floor!*

  Wilhelm adjusted his clothes.

  *I’m on my way.*

  …

Falcon Rea’s eyes grew lower and lower.

*Everything’s getting so dark, where’s everybody at?*

A flash of all his memories came back to him.

In the near distance, he saw a shimmering light, a star, calling out to him.

*Old Man…?* Falcon felt a familiar feeling from that a star.

A thought was imprinted into his mind.

  *Protect Naomi!*

“That’s right…” Falcon slowly got up as his body retaliated against it, yet his will suppressed his body’s response. “If I’m gone, who will?”

His body distorted and broke off into light.

  “I’ll shatter… this fate!”

His body quickly dissolved into light as he traveled as fast he could, sending himself outside of the planet.

  “Faster…!”

The speed grew tenfold, no, twentyfold! His will to survive— to protect Naomi was all he could think about. That was the King’s strength.

“Nrggghh!” Falcon felt a fragment of his soul breaking as he continued to accelerate. He was stretching the extent of his very powers.

  “Faster…!!!”

  bwwooooooop!

  . . . .

Falcon was back on Earth? He looked at his chest. Not a single scratch.

He looked in front of him. Yumin’s neck had a slight cut on it.

This was the point in time where Falcon would meet his certain death! Falcon’s body dashed backwards.

A sword pierced the empty ground where Falcon was supposed to be.

“That’s weird.. you were overcome with anger just a second ago, and now you aren’t?”

Falcon was confused too. Imaez and Lloyd looked at Falcon.

“Hey.. what’s with the sudden pause?” Imaez looked at him. “Good reflexes though.”

Lloyd looked at him confused but relieved.

*He could’ve died there. It’s good he didn’t, but how did he dodge that?*

Falcon came to the eventual realization.

  *I have broken fate.*
