C86

Weeks. It took weeks of maneuvers, controlled demolition, and pants shitting fear before we left the minefield. We had lost 10 people from clearing out a path through that minefield apparently.

I had been with Ani from the moment I left Carrio in the brig with a broken shin bone or two. I had, of course, called the ship's doctors to attend him and put a guard on his cell, but after that? I was with Anibeli.

And by the dead gods was she furious. Still is, if I'm being honest. She honestly wants to kill him. Like, she is a genuine second away from blowing his brains out with a las pistol.

I had kept her distracted, to assure that didn't happen, but now, we would be late for the wedding. We would have to shotgun it, and wouldn't that be fantastic?

No lengthy multi day ceremony, no long wait before we could get on with our life. Fast marriage aboard the Hades Class Heavy Cruiser, which was named Lygos (odd name, but ok), then we would fuck off on a shakedown cruise.

The writ, though, was being moved to the Lygos. Something to do with authenticity, and transfer of leadership. That, plus it would be the best armed and armored ship in the Berekel fleet, I suppose.

But, with the writ aboard, it was basically Anibeli's grandfather handing the reigns of the house to her. As if the ship didn't say that already.

We would be arriving in a few days after this fiasco, and I couldn't wait to be done with the Jekkops fool. Just a few more day's, about 2 weeks at most, and we could conveniently 'lose' him down a flight of stairs.

My patience was inexcusable, mind. I could wait til the stars die, but still. There was something so tantalizing about seeing your goal almost complete, right in front of you. And I couldn't wait until the completion of this particular one.
