The fat lizard looked more like an alligator then the trash covered salamander looked that the normal sludge drippers have, it didn’t help that the thing was about the same size as an actual alligator. Skitter Nail was still wondering how it had gotten so big, it’s not from eating since none of the body it is standing on are fully eaten, most if not all of them have only had but a single bite out of them. But he can’t get too distracted by his thoughts since Durgot finally noticed that it had a challenger, with a belching roar it invited the challenge.
Durgot opened his mouth and from it shot out three globs of slimy trash, two missed horrible but the third one Skitter Nail actually needed to dodge because it was going to hit his side. It was while he was running around dodging more globs that he noticed that the arena was surrounded by water and the only place he could hide behind was four pillars. Another belching roar announced that the lizard was changing his tactics, with surprising speed for something that heavy Durgot rammed into the pillar making it crack but also making the lizard fall back stunned.
Skitter Nail took advantage of this short period of no attacks to shoot all of the mana bolts he could before Durgot got up, sadly it was not that much time before the lizard was up and shot more globs at him. Quickly Skitter Nail ran over to another of the pillars since he couldn’t hide behind the one the fatty was next to, luckily the globs weren’t hard to dodge. The fight was going surprisingly well as he hadn’t gotten hit once and the boss oddly enough didn’t just attack him like a normal sludge dripper.
With again another belching roar Durgot rammed into the pillar he was hiding behind making it crack and crumble, just like before Skitter Nail shot at the boss while it was trying to get its fat ass up. He was actually getting bored of this fight, like he wanted something a little bit more life threatening, similar to his fight with those rats that definitely were attacking him first. But it seems that the fight was going to change soon since after the next charge attack Skitter Nail was only able to get three more shots in before Durgot let out a roar that wasn’t as bubbly as it normally is and then jumped from where it was stand to being back on top of the pile.
Durgot roared again and from hidden pores on its back little sludge drippers crawled out and then they began to run blindly towards Skitter Nail. It was only three of the little things but even then he was struggling since big fatty didn’t just sit on its thrown no it was back to shooting out globs again, dodging and attacking was hard but other than some scratches and some sticky slime he was still going. The one other thing that didn’t change was that Durgot roared and charged off from the pile towards Skitter Nail.
Luckily he was in front of a pillar and so he just jumped out of the way and watched the boss slam into the stone, fully shattering the pillar but also stunning itself again. Mana bolts shot out from Skitter Nail’s mouth hitting Durgot, he got a notification during the battle saying that his skill had leveled up but he couldn’t claim it during combat so he had to use the weak mana bolts until he killed the boss. The boss got back up and jumped back to the pile and like before smaller sludge drippers came out of its back and it started shooting globs.
When the boss once again charged at him after killing its minions, he did the same trick and made it slam into the pillar behind him stunning the lizard once again. But this time instead of just shooting at it, Skitter Nail decided to both shoot at the boss while also biting and scratching at its scales trying to do more damage. Skitter Nail didn’t know if it was the more attacks or that Durgot broke the last pillar but instead of jumping onto the pile of bodies it jumped into the murky water surrounding the arena.
Skitter Nail watched the water waiting for something to happen and something did happen as from the water a gargling roar announced a large splash that was led up with a sliding charge from the boss that he was barely able to dodge while watching the boss go back into the water on the other side of the arena. But that was short lived since Durgot slid again two more times before stopping and staying in the water, Skitter Nail wasn’t able to hit the boss once during this whole thing. From the water globs of slimy trash shoot out in groups of five making it hard to dodge just due to the amount that were flying around the arena.
The globs stopped being fired as another roar came from the water but instead of the charging slide what happened was the boss jumping into the air above Skitter Nail casting down a shadow. Durgot hovered there floating above the rat no matter where he ran, but when the fat lizard started to drop Skitter Nail was able to get away just barely in time. He was blasted away by the air being pushed, when he got up he saw the large lizard really struggling to get up so he ran forward ready to attack the boss.
Skitter Nail clawed, chewed, and shot at the boss until he could barely move due to how tired he got, the fear that the boss could still be alive was the only thing that was fueling him to go on. He looked up at Durgot and noticed that not only was the boss dead but it had been dead for a little while and he had a large list of system notifications that came with it.

The sheer amount of changes to his stats made Skitter Nail’s head hurt, but that was quickly fixed as his mental stats increased by a large amount too. Even with all of the stat changes being done he still had a whole bunch more choices, but most of the choices are just which stat he wanted to increase more and he already knew which stat he was going to increase. The only trouble he is having is his mutation and his skill choices, for the mutation he really didn’t care which he took since both increased his intelligence it’s just one increases it by two but lowers strength by one while the other is the same as his first mutation and since he really didn’t care about his other stats he choose the new option.

The next thing to choose was a new skill from his class, although one does seem slightly different? There were three of them and unlike the skills he already has they have information about what they do, he is starting to wonder if it’s not that they don’t have info and it is more that he doesn’t know how to access the info.

For some reason the last skill’s description felt somewhat personally targeted at Skitter Nail, but he didn’t care about it anyways since the skill didn’t fit his fighting style which is shot at the enemy and if he runs out of mana then he will go to melee so what good is a melee skill that needs mana when he only goes into melee when he’s out of it. The skills he would use were the other two since one will just add to his fighting style and the other will make it so his enemy can’t dodge his attacks, it really only comes down to if the skills will appear again the next class level. If they do then he would choose ember and if they don’t he would choose tangle, luckily the instincts the system gave him is telling him it would save all unchosen skills for next level up unless he got a skill evolution.

Now that he had finished all that stuff he started to feel his body get tired but he knew that he couldn’t in this room nor in the open so he made his way down the stairs behind the boss room and found a crevice big enough for him and him alone and close his eyes to fall asleep for the first time happy and not scared. Maybe tomorrow will be as exciting as today was because if it is then he can not wait for each and every day to come just so he can see what adventures he will go on.
Outside the dungeon a party of delvers had just made it out of the dungeon and like they always do they started talking to each other about the things they saw in the dungeon. “Did you see the first boss? That thing has never been that big, like it was closer in size to the second floor’s boss.” said one of the healers, she was shivering remembering how more alive the boss felt this time. “Yeah but I'm just more surprised that something in the dungeon was fighting those harmless bugs, like they don’t even attack you and barely get any exp from them.” Said one of the warriors, he was about to talk more but was interrupted.
“Excuse me please.” Asked an ancient looking man who had an odd look on his wrinkled face. “Could you tell me more about those bugs you were talking about?” he seemed profoundly worried like he had heard something that could not exist but yet does.
Somewhere else somewhere light did not reach a messenger who had just arrived to bring news to his master “My Lord the Guild has finally noticed the poisoning of the dungeon and they have begun to try and find a way to fix it.” His Lordship was working on a project at the moment and he didn’t look up from it to talk to his servant. “Good, that is what we want to happen. Continue to watch them and only interfere if one of our agents is found.” He ripped his hand out of the corpse of the Greater Orcus pulling out its still beating green heart, looking at it with interest. “Yes my Lord, your word is my command!” The freakish horror of a half man thing left the room to spread his Lord's grand words to other servants.
“Soon HaHa! Soon I will finally be able to leave this terrible game!” The Lord looked up away from the heart in his hand and at the thing that has not ever disappeared from his vision since he came to these lands. “Soon I will be Free from this Game! Ha Ha Ha HA HA HA HA– -!” The madman only known as Lord continued to laugh with madness in his voice.
