Chapter 32 — When the World Answered

Tavari’s body lay twisted against the cold stone.

  His hands were shattered.

His legs refused to answer him.

The Celestane Chain coiled tightly around his body, dim yet merciless, severing his connection to every thread he had ever touched.

Above the kingdom, the great dome of woven light trembled.

Once vast and absolute, it now flickered like a dying star. Cracks of pale energy spread across its surface as fragments drifted away into nothingness.

Inside the walls, soldiers watched in horror.

  “No… the barrier is disappearing…”

Serena staggered forward, gripping the gate until her knuckles turned white.

  “Master… please… stand up…”

Joseph slammed his sword repeatedly against the sealed barrier.

“Tavari! OPEN IT! Let us fight with you!”

  The king stood frozen.

  The princes could not breathe.

Beyond the fading dome, Cassia calmly stepped forward beside the demon.

  Step.

  Step.

  Step.

Each footstep echoed like an execution bell.

  Panic spread through the city.

  “We’re going to die—!”

  Tavari heard them.

  Not with his ears.

  With something deeper.

His fingers dug into the ground, broken bones grinding together. Pain flooded him, but worse than pain was the helplessness.

  I promised…

  He tried to rise.

  His body collapsed.

  Again.

He forced himself upward once more, only managing to fall onto his knees.

The chain tightened, draining even hope itself.

  No threads answered him.

  No magic.

  Nothing.

For the first time since entering the Tower… Tavari felt small.

Is this… where I fail them?

His vision blurred as he looked toward the castle — toward his sister, toward the people hiding behind walls that depended on him.

Cassia reached the final stretch before the gate.

  The dome shattered further.

  Serena screamed.

  “TAVARI!!”

He lifted his head toward the sky.

  “…move…”

  Silence answered.

  Cassia smiled faintly.

“It is time, young boy. I will bring their heads to you.”

  Despair spread across the kingdom.

  Tavari’s hands trembled.

If I cannot use threads… then what am I?

  He pushed again.

  Nothing came.

  Once.

  Twice.

  Five times.

  Failure.

  Then—something answered.

  The air bent.

  The ground hummed.

  The sky itself shivered.

Threads descended from everywhere — not from his body, but from existence itself. Vast rivers of light stitched across the heavens, forming a new dome around the kingdom.

  Greater.

  Heavier.

  Absolute.

  Cassia stopped instantly.

Shock crossed her face for the first time.

“…An Axiom Thread User,” she whispered.

  “So the prophecies were true.”

Inside the barrier, silence consumed everyone.

  Joseph’s voice shook. “…he didn’t cast that…”

Serena stared in fear and awe. “…the world answered him…”

  Blood streamed from Tavari’s eyes.

  His body collapsed, barely breathing.

  Cassia smiled slowly.

“So… you are the one capable of killing Nuru.”

The demon stepped forward and raised a massive hammer.

  CRACK.

  It smashed into Tavari’s fingers.

A scream tore from Tavari’s throat — raw, helpless, human.

  Again the hammer fell.

  Bones shattered.

Serena screamed uncontrollably, pounding the barrier until her hands bled.

Joseph roared in fury, striking endlessly.

The king dropped to his knees.

  “STOP!”

Tavari could not move. His body refused him. He felt like a passenger trapped inside broken flesh.

The demon lifted the hammer again—

  “Enough.”

Cassia appeared beside him instantly, stopping the strike.

“Do not kill him,” she said calmly.

“He is an Axiom Thread User.”

The demon laughed and embraced her as she opened a spatial tear.

Before leaving, Cassia glanced once more at Tavari — curiosity burning behind her eyes.

  Then they vanished.

Far in the Western Kingdom, Arie, Matt, and Raphel lay broken upon the battlefield as Vaelie’s children charged toward the gates.

“…We failed the Watcher,” Matt whispered.

  Tears slid down Arie’s face.

  The monsters rushed forward—

  —and suddenly stopped.

  The air grew warm.

  Heavy.

  Terrifying.

  Vaelie frowned. “…What is happening?”

  A voice answered behind him.

“I think you have had your time.”

  Nuru stood there.

  He had not arrived.

  He simply existed.

Vaelie’s children trembled — then turned into drifting dust.

  Vaelie ran without hesitation.

  Nuru allowed him to leave.

He looked toward Arie and Matt.

Without movement, their wounds healed instantly. Bones restored. Strength returned.

  Raphel gasped awake.

Nuru walked into the kingdom, and waves of restoration followed him. Every injured citizen healed as he passed.

Inside the castle, he sat upon the throne.

“I wish to speak with the prince alone,” he said calmly.

At the Tower gates, one thousand White Gods charged.

  Nuru stood waiting.

  Silence fell.

  One soldier coughed blood.

  Then another.

One by one, hearts stopped beating until the army collapsed without a single strike exchanged.

At the twelve Zodiac Kingdoms, Nuru stood at every gate simultaneously.

  Vaelie’s children attacked.

Each turned into dust before reaching the walls.

Back in the North, Cassia reappeared — only to freeze.

Nuru stood beside Tavari’s broken body.

“How are you here…?” she asked quietly.

  Nuru looked at the demon.

“…Who gave you permission to strike my lover?”

  Space split.

The demon’s body separated into three clean pieces.

Cassia reacted instantly, catching the remains with threads before teleporting away. She fled.

Nuru gently lifted Tavari into his arms.

For a moment, Tavari opened his eyes and smiled weakly upon seeing him.

  Then he fainted again.

Nuru disappeared, reappearing at the Tower.

With a small motion, the great dome dissolved peacefully into light.

  Its purpose fulfilled.

  Then Nuru vanished once more.

Leaving behind saved kingdoms… shattered enemies…

and a world beginning to realize that the war had just changed forever.
