After her brief exchange with Levi, Emilia vanished from the room, immediately heading towards the Vanguard's headquarters.

Following the incident that had taken place, an emergency Captains summit had been called by Zenon.

In a matter of seconds, she had arrived at her destination, standing in front of a tall building with glass walls.

This was the Vanguard headquarters of the continent of Cynerion. It had different layers dedicated to different functions.

At the top of the tower lay the Top Room, where the council of leaders gathered to discuss important matters and also conduct meetings with leaders from other continents.

Below that was the convergence room where Captains of each squad had their joint meetings—where Emilia was heading to.

Below that, was the Tech Center. Three different levels with active individuals working as technicians responding to emergency calls, and constantly monitoring the city's security for any unusual activity.

Below that were rooms, housing different equipment and weapons being built to assist fighters, and the Practice Areas for testing these equipments.

On the ground floor, was the Welcome Area, housing different statues of Astrovian heroes and legends.

Emilia simply took a gentle leap, flying upward rather than going through the ground floor and taking the elevator. To her, it was a waste of time and the current situation didn't give the freedom for that.

She had almost gotten to the highest part of the tower when she stopped and placed her palm on one of the glass walls. It vanished instantly and she stepped into the room like it was normal.

"You know, normally that would've triggered an alarm, right?"

The first voice that came belonged to the captain of Squad Five, Orion. He had silver hair and lazy spaced out eyes that look like they'd close any moment if they were given the chance.

At the age of 22, Orion was currently the youngest Captain among the ranks of Cynerion's 12 captains.

"Three layers of barrier, invisible to the eye, designed to vaporize intruders. Yet you just... walked through."

"You already know her DNA is registered with it, and that's irrelevant right now," the captain of Squad six—a red haired sitting next to Orion—said. "What exactly is the situation right now?"

Emilia didn't say a word. She landed, placing her feet against the floor gently one after the other.

All the captains were seated round a large circular table with a translucent surface. Emilia made her way to the seat at the top, beside Zenon who was just watching quietly.

This story originates from a different website. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there.

"You already know most of it," she said as she settled onto the floating chair. "As for the events that led to it..." She trailed off, leaving her sentence incomplete.

At that moment, the minds of every captain there was invaded with a flurry of images covering everything that has happened on the island.

This was Emilia flooding their minds with the information she extracted from Lian's memories.

"Yeah, this is beyond bad," the captain of Squad 3, Titus, clenched his fist. "This Kai guy... He was strong enough to actually push Reinhart that far?"

The other Captains shifted slightly in their seats as he said it. Among them only a few were capable of actually facing Reinhart head on, and none were sure if they'd actually win.

"Seeing that they're this dangerous, is a short notice meeting that dragged each of us from different parts of the continent supposed to be the first move?" The captain of Squad 11, Atticus, queried.

He shifted his gaze to Emilia, his blue eyes landing squarely on her. "Shouldn't we have immediately dispatched people to begin searching for them?"

"He's right," Silas, the captain of Squad 4 folded his arms. "We could've gotten this information through other means from where we were and began our search for a home base for these guys."

"And do what when you find them, Silas?" Kaelen, the captain of Squad 7, queried. "We all saw what happened. He took down Garrion like it was nothing and pushed Reinhart that far."

"How are we sure there aren't people stronger on their side? Acting in a haste would just be us setting ourselves up for more losses."

The room went silent. Although they tried to hide it, losing Lian, and Garrion had left a deep space for frustration to creep into their veins. And then there was Reinhart who was currently hanging to life on a thin thread.

Some of them were furious, and some were overwhelmed by the situation.

"I know no one here wants to admit it, but acting out of anger is not very advisable now is it?" Squad eight's captain Isadora said in a low calm tone.

Along with her fading voice, the tension in the room began to dissipate after she spoke.

She always had a gentle motherly aura surrounding her, coupled with her long blue hair that looked like a gentle ocean, she had a peaceful vibe that only came in second place to Zenon.

"We had personal relationships with them," she continued, glancing at each of the other captains. "So I understand wanting to get revenge as soon as possible."

"But if we did it without thinking and fall too then that'd just mean they died for nothing."

The room became calm and each of them let out different heavy exhales, easing their shoulders.

"Isa's right," Starla, Captain of Squad 10, a female figure with long white hair and a slim figure, sitting beside Titus spoke up in agreement. "But even if we wanted to act—"

She was cut off by the Captain of Squad nine, Jaxon. "Exactly what leads do we have on them at the moment?" He shifted his focus to Emilia who had been watching in silence alongside Zenon.

"Hey, I wasn't done talking." Starla turned sharply to Jaxon. "At least... Show some gentleman manners for once, Jaxon." She scoffed like a baby trying to complain while maintaining her pride.

"Well, excuse me for helping you finish what you were about to—"

His words were cut off by a gentle tap on the table and everyone else went silent, shifting their attention to one individual.

It wasn't particularly a loud tap, so it wasn't about the sound itself but the person who made it. Emilia.

"Based on the reports I got from the technical team, the island they were trapped on is located in Cynerion," Emilia said in a measured, yet commanding tone.

Without a pause in-between her statements, she continued, "However, for two hours, it vanished off the face of their maps."

"According to Lian's memories, they were stuck on that island for two days," she revealed, arousing a form of confusion in the mind's of the other captains.

They already knew what Emilia was driving at, but they unconsciously repressed the thought, with a silent hope that their new enemy did not possess such prowess.

"That barrier didn't just cloak the island's presence, it completely transported it to another dimension," Emilia declared.

"The moment Zenon and I received information about Layla's emergency, we immediately began to scan the planet for their energy signatures, but we made no progress."

"I believe you all understand what this implies," She said, dropping a query that materialized the Captain's worst fear.

"They have members as strong as you and Zenon," Orion said, providing a reply to Emilia's query.

"Or we can say they have a powerful barrier specialist," Emilia said as she reclined on her seat.

"Either way, even if we were to find their base, attacking them without a plan and a good perception of their strength is no different from suicide," she added. "So please, wipe that idea off your minds for now."

"Based on the evidence presented so far, it looks like their primary objective wasn't to harm the students," Jaxon posed his analysis. "Seems more like the teachers were their intended targets."

"It was almost like... They were aiming to reduce our military strength?" Kaelen muttered, his eyes widening slowly as the realization crept in.

"Precisely..." Emilia asserted Kaelen's assessment. "Which is why..." She trailed off, shifting her gaze to Zenon.

They all knew he was finally about to speak but what they weren't ready for was the gravity of the words their head captain would speak.

Zenon who had be sitting with his eyes closed finally opened them and leaned forward, resting his elbows on the table.

"I've already summoned the respective leaders of the other continents."
