This newfound efficiency has granted me the most valuable resource of all: time. With the girls managing the household, I can finally focus on my personal studies and the expansion of my business. I’ve been spending more time away from the house lately, coordinating with various local merchants to ensure my presence won't be missed if I decide to disappear into a dungeon for a week.
My primary focus lately has been the systematic acquisition of new jobs. I’ve been experimenting with the system, leveling up various roles to see if they act as gateways to higher-tier classes. Currently, my sights are set on the Magejob. However, according to the research I’ve conducted and the rumors I’ve gathered from the local guilds, acquiring the Mage job is impossible without first obtaining the Scholar job.
The exact requirements for the Scholar job are frustratingly vague. Is it tied to a specific level, like the level 40 threshold I encountered with the combat jobs? Or is it something else entirely? I realized that the only way to find out was to trigger the acquisition itself.
In this world, the path of the Scholar is paved with wealth. To become a scholar, one must read. For the common people, books are an extreme luxury, items of such value that most will never even hold one. This creates a natural barrier to the magical arts. Even if a commoner manages to save enough to buy a single book and trigger the job, they must continue to find new, expensive volumes to level it up, or risk taking a non-combat job into a dungeon to fight monsters—a suicidal prospect for most.
The academies of this world solve this problem for the nobility by providing a steady stream of education, forcing students to acquire the Scholar job in their first few years before they ever touch a wand. But I have no intention of enrolling in a school full of teenagers just to get a job. I have the money, so I’ve been taking the direct route: renting volumes from the city library for the past month.
Before Woya and Wyn arrived, my reading progress was slow. I had to balance my studies with the daily grind of survival and house maintenance. But since they took over the chores, my pace has doubled. The book currently lying open on my desk is my tenth volume. If the system for Scholar is anything like the other base jobs, ten seems like a logical number for acquisition.
I turned the final page, reading the last few sentences before closing the heavy leather cover with a satisfied thud. I leaned back in my chair, taking a deep breath. It was that familiar feeling again—the same anticipation you get when opening a birthday present or a rare loot box.
"Player Window," I whispered.
The translucent blue screen shimmered into existence before my eyes, glowing softly in the dim light of the room.

It’s been over a year since I arrived in this world. Back then, I was twenty. On the twenty-sixth day of the ninth month—the same day I bought the girls—the "Age" counter on my window officially ticked over to twenty-one.
The screen is becoming increasingly crowded as I collect jobs like trophies. My total point pool has reached 215, thanks largely to the growth of the Hero job. I’ve funneled the majority of those points into my Experience-related skills. Both my "Experience Gaining" and "Experience Requirement Reduction" skills are now level 14. This creates a combined effect that gives me an effective experience multiplier of over 200x.
Looking at my stats, the numbers are becoming truly absurd. Because I am currently equipped with five jobs, and every one of them is at the third tier or higher, the cumulative bonuses have pushed my physical attributes into the stratosphere. A strength score of 17.63 makes me a titan among men.
However, looking at the job levels, I noticed they aren't quite as high as one might expect from ten months of consistent effort. There are three main reasons for this.
First, I’ve spent a significant amount of time traveling. After fleeing the Targonia Kingdom, I had to stay mobile to avoid pursuers. I spent months mapping the areas around Yargan so that I could effectively use the Warp and Advent skills of the Adventurer job. I’ve even begun making secret excursions into neighboring countries to secure rare trade goods.
Second, I’ve been building my life here. Establishing connections with merchants like Yorik and Orzhan, buying and decorating this house, and commissioning household devices—all of these things took time away from the dungeon grind.
Third, I decided to diversify. I didn't want to just push my main jobs to their limits and miss out on potentially game-changing roles. I spent months experimenting—melting metal to unlock Blacksmith, gathering rare flora for Herbalist, and performing hundreds of mundane tasks to see what would trigger a new class. While being able to craft my own gear and brew my own potions is good in theory, I eventually realized it was diluting my main growth. I decided to stop leveling those utility jobs unless they were required for a high-tier class I specifically wanted.
Speaking of gear, I’m currently utilizing the armor I took from the Knight I killed during my escape from Targonia. It was a traumatic, messy affair, but his equipment was of excellent quality. I sold most of the other gear I’ve looted over the past year—including the Knight’s sword and that strange magical device that revealed a person's job.
The device was the real prize; it sold for 6 platinum coins to a specialized magic merchant. Combined with my trading profits and loot sales, I’m currently sitting on a fortune: 9 platinum, 140 gold, 391 silver, and 50 copper coins. I used 5 platinum just on my custom two-handed Bastion Sword, a masterwork weapon I secured at auction. With a Strength stat nearing 18, even a full plate steel harness and a massive bastion sword feel as light as a common linen shirt. I’ve abandoned the stealthy, leather-clad approach for now; if I’m going into a fight, I want to be an unstoppable force of steel.
But the most important update today was at the very bottom of the job list. I had finally unlocked Scholar.
***
Scholar:
- An uncommon job that the poor can’t even dream of.
- Intelligence increases (small)
- Wisdom increases (minor)
Skill: Reference
- You can remember the content of the books you read more easily.
***
As I scanned the entry, I noticed something else—a new job listed right beneath it. This one wasn't a tier evolution; it seemed to be a hidden achievement job, likely triggered by the fact that I now possess twenty distinct jobs.
When I read the description for Job Collector, I nearly stopped breathing.
***
Job Collector:
- An unheard job that only a person obsessed with collecting jobs can get.
- Don’t have the level
- Acquired experience is divided between job 1 and job 2.
- Stat increase: Same as selected job 1
Skills: Same as selected job 2
***
This job is a complete "cheat." It effectively allows me to merge the physical power of my strongest combat class with the utility and skills of a magic or support class, all while leveling both simultaneously within a single job slot.
I took a moment to just sit there, staring at the screen, trying to steady my racing thoughts. The potential for growth with this new class was staggering. I needed to reorganize my strategy.
I decided to take the first step. I lowered my "Experience Requirement Reduction" skill from level 14 to 13, freeing up enough points to purchase a sixth job slot.
