Weakness Lvl 11
Harrison’s Weakness leveled up. He had been so distracted by his Guild lesson plans that he neglected his progress in class. It wasn’t anything too consequential, but he needed to refocus and remember he was a student, too.

He wasn’t sure what he was thinking in deciding to teach Calista something so archaic. He had no knowledge of dance and he couldn’t even stand on his pointes without nearly breaking a toe, even with his high Strength and PT Levels. He’d stopped trying after it cost him a couple HP.
It was difficult and outdated, but it fit Calista well. She followed the HARP-ED hologram with ease and even did better on the CD-Sim. She still had a lot to work on in terms of her stats, but she progressed faster with this discipline than any other. She thrived well in Kung Fu, and she was determined to improve in karate, but they didn’t see as much progress as this brand-new— or rather, ancient— discipline.
Her newfound progress had both of them excited. She’d kept to her word and committed to practice, following every instruction and doing every stretch, even the ones she hated. Now, Harrison had her hanging from the bar by her heels to improve her leg strength; thankfully, they were already her strongest limbs. She continued her other disciplines, mostly through classes, and improved slowly but steadily.
Harrison found himself in such a good mood that not even Reilly or Disaris could sour it with their offhand remarks about him. At breakfast, Catherine noticed him humming a tune he’d listened to in one of the ballet recordings he was studying. She’d humorously asked, “You singin’ a show tune, lad?”, catching the others’ attention, and Harrison simply replied, “It’s just a really good week.”
In Teamwork, Calista started to perform better. Her reflexes had sharpened, her strikes held some strength, and she never lost her pretty smile, even when Hillary tried her usual taunting. Lílitha had raised a brow at Harrison’s good mood, asking, “What’s got you so happy?” She’d followed his gaze to Calista, which gave her the wrong idea, so he clarified, “She’s progressing amazingly. A teacher can be proud of his student, right?”
“Right…” She’d nodded, unconvinced.
Calista was in a good mood herself, displaying it through the customized uniforms she showed off. She changed it a few days after starting Ninja Ballet lessons, wearing a strange, blue outfit that resembled a long-sleeved swimsuit and red tights that showed off her developing muscles. The shoes she’d chosen were white shoes with ribbons tied around her ankles. Harrison initially thought she’d be limited with her new style, but the shoes seemed to help her, especially when practicing Ninja Ballet. She showed up other days with new skirts, jackets, shirts, and other clothing from centuries ago that were never seen.
Harrison did wonder why modern fashion was so boring. He never paid any attention to such things— most fighters didn’t—, even when he got to customize his fighter suit in the last rounds of the Games. Calista’s unique talent in fashion and partiality to older, more pre-Utopian styles was very eye-catching.
They had great communication and melding styles, giving them some power whenever they were grouped together. They didn’t win every time, nor did Calista shed all of her slip-ups, but the improvement was very apparent. Rosalina Wiasod eyed them stoically, her frown deepening as she watched their interactions, and she’d passed Harrison at the end of one class, warning, “Your charm won’t save her from humiliation. She’s not one of us, Cheater.”
He was determined to prove her wrong. So was Calista.
It was a Tuesday, and they were back in Teamwork class for a game of Chess. Two teams competed against each other as soldiers on a checkered floor, directed by their team leader, who was the ‘First Head’. Players who met would fight each other and try to wrestle the other off their feet. If someone took down the leader, that team would lose.
It was based off a game from centuries ago— Harrison couldn’t remember the type of game, but it was something along the lines of boards. The Heads used to be called Kings and Queens.
The coaches allowed students to pick their teammates again, so Harrison quickly got Calista and Lílitha on his team, followed by Medusa and a few other random students he didn’t really know that well. Medusa didn’t get along with them great, but she always put differences aside during a game and she was an excellent strategizer. He made her the ‘Second Head’, the co-leader of the chess team. Lílitha would be a Bishop and Calista was a Tower.
When the coaches called Harrison’s group up to the ERMM, he sighed at the sight of Hillary and Rosalina on the opposing team. He knew Hillary would find some way to pick on Calista and glitch up his team; she’d had it out for her ever since the first Teamwork class with the newbies.
Hillary always had species bias against humans. She’d started at Fistborn in 2346 and had notoriously bullied a lot of human students in her year, taking advantage of those at lower Levels by assigning them petty and foolish tasks, promising RP, then glitching them over with little to no RP earnings. A lot of students did stuff like this to lower Levels, but Hillary specifically targeted humans. Harrison never knew why, but he heard rumors that she’d unwillingly moved to Earth with her family as a child and had always hated being here.
It didn’t make sense to him; she was of age, so she could easily work for the digits to move back to Paeseo, but she instead applied to an Earthian school and got accepted with the full scholarship everyone else in the Versus school got.
When the new class came in, she initially made fun of all the humans, but Calista was now her primary target. Her clumsiness in class, her fumble in the first exercise, and the reveal of her Socializer past made Hillary determined to either get her expelled for messing up so much, or so demotivated that she’d ask to quit. Her current health situation was enough to fulfill a Quitting Requirement, even with the improvements.
Harrison wouldn’t let that happen, and he knew Calista wouldn’t, either. With her determination, only God himself could stop her career, team or no team.
Rosalina was someone he was worried about, not for Calista, but for Lílitha. They’d had a long-standing feud for years, since before he even arrived. Lílitha had never told him exactly why they hated each other so much, even with the rumors floating around: some said Rosalina had gotten Lílitha eliminated in the last tournament (debunked; an Emitonian had eliminated her), others said it was simply rooted in their species’ history with each other, since Hajja owned Ilamiko as a slave planet once (both were clearly uninterested in whatever history their species had).
A popular rumor was that Lílitha had secretly liked Reilly and was jealous that Rosalina got him instead; this was the most ridiculous, in Harrison’s opinion. Ilamikoans didn’t reproduce the same way as most species and could only ever procreate with themselves.
Whatever it was, it had ruined what once was a great friendship, close enough to be a sisterhood. Lílitha only told him stuff along the lines of, “She betrayed me, and she got what she deserved.”
The game started and Rosalina’s team played first, sending one of the pawns out. They were all, unsurprisingly, either first-years or one of the ‘weaker’ species. Rosalina was team leader, playing as the ‘First Head’ while one of her fellow Alpha Favorites was ‘Second Head’. Hillary was a Knight, and she was already shifting impatiently on her feet.
