Arc II — Echoes in the Snow
Chapter 11 — The Wolf That Should Be Dead
The snow fell from the trees, and the sound of every step covered the forest.
With the sudden sound, the monster dropped at the left side of Niki. She held her sword tight, waiting for the right moment.
The wolf was familiar and unfamiliar at the same time, but at first glance it was hard to put her finger on it.
Confusion clouded her, then the thought came to mind and it all clicked at once.

"This… this should have been dead." The thought came to her mind.
It was the same wolf that attacked the carriage before, and the reason they had to carry the dead bodies of their friends home instead of walking with them.
The memory of the incident came to her mind — the attack, the death, the struggle — all came back to her, hitting her where she was hurting the most.
Looking at the wolf, the wounds that were on its body, the broken jaw of the wolf, and the blood on its fur could be clearly seen.
Every inch of its body reminded her of what happened in the most cruel and ironic way possible.
Niki was unstable, and the many thoughts in her mind started to become noise, fogging her judgment.
As she was thinking, an ice arrow was shot from her side at high speed, tearing the air and making a loud sound in the forest.
The arrow hit the wolf's leg and shattered at the impact. The wolf became unstable and stumbled from the shock of the hit.
Niki, looking at the situation, took a large short breath to calm her mind and pulled the sword from her sheath.
The wolf looked at Phil with its mouth twitching and wide open eyes, piercing him with every glance.
