Chapter 13: The Spider Empress

  ---

The light on Floor 20 pulsed like a living heart.

Forty-seven spiders knelt in perfect formation, their many-legged bodies pressed low to the ground. Velvet led them, her massive form trembling with anticipation she couldn't hide. Behind them, at a respectful distance, the slimes watched—Lilith and Ruri at their head, the Original Nine spread among their children.

  Everyone held their breath.

  The light condensed. Shaped. Became.

  And then she stepped forward.

She was breathtaking—impossible to look away from, impossible to fully comprehend. Her upper body was humanoid perfection, pale skin with an iridescent sheen, silver-white hair cascading past her waist. Her face held features so sharp they could cut, high cheekbones, full lips curved in an expression that might be curiosity or might be hunger. Her eyes—four of them, arranged in a diamond pattern across her face—glowed soft violet.

Below the waist, her true form emerged. Eight legs, each jointed and elegant, tipped with crystalline cws that clicked against the stone. Her abdomen swelled behind her, massive and beautiful, marked with patterns that seemed to shift and writhe. Silk gnds glistened at its tip, ready to weave.

She was terror and beauty combined. She was queen.

  ---

  The spiders trembled.

Velvet raised her head, tears streaming down her face. "Our queen. Our empress. We have waited so long."

Anya's multiple eyes swept across the kneeling spiders, then beyond them to the watching slimes, then deeper—toward my core room, toward me.

"You waited," she repeated. Her voice was silk wrapped around steel. "For me?"

"Since we felt your coming. Since the dreams began." Velvet pressed her forehead to the ground. "We are yours. All of us. Command us."

Anya was silent for a long moment.

  Then she moved.

Not toward her subjects—toward the slimes. Toward Lilith.

She stopped inches from the succubus queen, her height advantage making Lilith look almost small. Their eyes met—four violet orbs against two crimson.

"You're the first queen," Anya said. It wasn't a question.

"I am." Lilith didn't flinch. "Lilith. Gatekeeper. Welcome to the family."

"Family." Anya tested the word. "I felt... something. When I formed. Love. Warmth. Connection." She gnced toward my core again. "Him."

"Yes. Master. Our core. Our heart." Lilith's voice softened. "He's been waiting for you."

  "Then take me to him."

[Anya's First Request: Meet the Core]

[Lilith's Response: Agreement - But Caution]

[Tension: Two Queens Circling Each Other]

  ---

The procession to my core room was silent and tense.

Anya walked—glided, really, her eight legs moving with impossible grace—through corridors she'd never seen but somehow knew. Spiders followed at a distance. Slimes watched from doorways. The younger ones peeked around corners, fascinated and terrified.

At the entrance to my chamber, Anya stopped.

  "He's in there." It wasn't a question.

"Yes." Lilith moved past her. "I'll announce you."

"Don't bother." Anya pushed past, entering my sanctuary without permission.

Lilith's eyes fshed, but she followed.

Anya stood before my core, all four eyes fixed on my pulsing crystal. For a long moment, she simply stared.

  Then she knelt.

Not the deep bow of a subject—something more intimate. She pressed her forehead to the floor before me, her silver hair spreading like water.

"You made me," she whispered. "I don't understand how or why, but you made me. And I..." Her voice cracked. "I felt you. Before I existed. Calling. Waiting. Loving."

I pulsed warmth through the room, through our bond—new, fragile, but real.

  Anya. Welcome home.

She shuddered—a full-body tremor that shook her massive abdomen.

"Home." She looked up, tears in her violet eyes. "I've never had a home."

  You do now. Forever.

Lilith watched from the doorway, expression unreadable.

  ---

  The next hours were chaos.

Anya needed to see everything—every floor, every room, every monster girl and adventurer and fragment. She moved through the dungeon like a visiting dignitary, observing, assessing, cataloging.

The spiders followed at a distance, proud and relieved. Their queen had come. They belonged again.

The slimes watched with mixed feelings—curiosity, wariness, fascination. Bubbles wanted to introduce herself immediately. Mel wanted to cook for the new queen. Shiny wanted to examine those crystalline cws.

But Anya had little time for them. Not yet. First, she needed to understand.

"This is inefficient," she commented, examining Floor 5's training grounds. "The obstacle spacing is wrong for eight-legged movement."

"It was designed for slimes," Ruri expined calmly. "And humans."

"Then redesign it." Anya's voice brooked no argument. "Spiders need different challenges. Different spaces. Different everything."

Ruri's expression flickered—the first test of her queenship. "This floor serves multiple species. We can't prioritize one over others."

"And yet spiders are here now. We have needs."

"So do slimes. So do humans. So do fragments." Ruri met Anya's multiple eyes without flinching. "We accommodate everyone. That's what family does."

Anya stared at her for a long moment.

  Then, slowly, she smiled.

"You have spine, little slime. I like that." She turned away. "We'll compromise. A section for spiders. The rest for others. Acceptable?"

  Ruri nodded. "Acceptable."

  ---

That evening, Lilith found me alone.

"She's going to be trouble," she murmured, pressing against my core.

  Probably.

"Not bad trouble. Just... adjusting trouble. She's been waiting to exist for weeks, feeling us, wanting us. Now she's here and everything is overwhelming."

  Like you were?

Lilith ughed softly. "I was worse. I threatened to eat the first adventurer who looked at me wrong."

  I remember. Mira was terrified.

"She got over it." Lilith traced patterns on my crystal. "Anya will too. She just needs time. Space. Acceptance."

  She has all three.

"I know. But she doesn't know it yet." Lilith sighed. "Being first queen means watching others struggle through what I've already mastered. It's harder than I expected."

  You're doing beautifully.

  "Ftterer." But she smiled.

  ---

That night, Anya visited me alone.

The spiders had settled into Floor 11, their new sanctuary. Velvet had organized everything with practiced efficiency, giving her queen space to process.

Now Anya stood before my core, humanoid arms crossed, eight legs restless.

"I don't know how to do this," she admitted.

  Do what?

"Be part of something. A family. A community. I was created with knowledge—of spiders, of weaving, of ruling. But not of... this." She gestured vaguely. "Connection. Trust. Love."

No one knows how at first. You learn.

  "Lilith makes it look easy."

Lilith has had months. And she still struggles. She just hides it better.

Anya's eyes widened slightly. "She struggles?"

Every day. Every queen will. Every monster girl. Every human. That's what family is—struggling together.

Anya considered this for a long moment.

Then she moved closer, her legs folding until she was eye-level with my core.

"Show me." Her voice was soft—vulnerable in a way she hadn't shown anyone. "Show me how to be part of this. Please."

I pulsed warmth through our bond, through her, through the whole dungeon.

You already are. You just have to let yourself believe it.

She pressed her forehead to my crystal, and for the first time since awakening, Anya the Spider Empress cried.

The next morning brought new challenges.

Word of Anya's awakening had spread—not just through the dungeon, but beyond. Adventurers arriving for their usual visits found a new queen patrolling the corridors, and reactions varied widely.

  "She's beautiful!" some excimed.

  "She's terrifying!" others countered.

"Can I pet one of her legs?" Baldo asked, immediately surrounded by protective spiders.

Dawn pulled him back. "No petting the new queen. We talked about this."

"When did we talk about this?"

"Five minutes ago, when you asked about petting Velvet."

"That was different. Velvet has fluffier legs."

Anya watched the exchange with bemused fascination. "Your humans are strange."

"Our humans are family," Lilith corrected gently. "Strange is part of the package."

  "I'm beginning to understand."

  ---

The younger slimes, after their initial fear, became fascinated with the spiders.

Puddle and her siblings crept close to Twinkle and her spider-siblings, watching them spin webs with awe.

"How do they do that?" Puddle whispered.

"It's like our bubbles," another young slime offered. "But sticky."

"Do you think we could learn?"

"I don't want sticky bubbles. They'd pop wrong."

The spider children watched the slime children watching them, unsure how to respond. Twinkle eventually waved a leg tentatively.

  Puddle waved back.

A friendship, tentative and new, began to form.

  ---

On the third day after Anya's awakening, Velvet made a request.

"Our queen needs a proper throne room," she told Lilith. "Not just a chamber—a presence. Somewhere she can hold court, receive visitors, demonstrate her authority."

"Floor 20 is her territory," Lilith agreed. "She can design it however she wants."

"She doesn't know how. She's never designed anything. She's existed for three days." Velvet's voice held frustration—not at Anya, but at the situation. "She has all this knowledge, all this power, but no experience applying it. She needs guidance."

  "And you're asking me?"

"I'm asking the first queen. The one who's done this before." Velvet met Lilith's eyes. "Help her. Please."

Lilith studied the spider leader for a long moment.

"You love her," she realized. "Not romantically—like family. Like a mother."

"She's my queen. Of course I love her."

"That's not automatic. That's earned." Lilith smiled. "And you've earned it. Yes, I'll help Anya design her throne room. But she has to ask me herself."

Velvet nodded. "She will. Give her time."

  That evening, Anya did ask.

She appeared at Lilith's favorite resting spot, looking uncomfortable.

"I need help," she said ftly.

Lilith raised an eyebrow. "Go on."

"My throne room. I have ideas—thousands of them, all conflicting. I don't know how to choose. I don't know how to build. I've never built anything."

  "And you're asking me because?"

Anya's jaw tightened. "Because you're first. Because you've done this. Because Velvet said you'd help if I asked." She paused. "So I'm asking."

Lilith studied her for a long moment—then smiled.

"Okay. Let's design a throne room."

They worked through the night, two queens from different worlds finding common ground in creation. Anya's ideas were grand, sweeping, impractical. Lilith's were grounded, experienced, possible. Together, they shaped something neither could have created alone.

By dawn, Floor 20 had a pn.

By week's end, it would have a throne.

Deep beneath the dungeon, in pces even I hadn't fully explored, something stirred.

The ancient watcher—the presence Lilith had sensed weeks ago—shifted in its slumber. Anya's awakening had disturbed it. Another queen. Another piece of the puzzle.

Soon, it would need to act.

But not yet. Not while the dungeon grew stronger daily.

It settled back into darkness, patient as stone, hungry as void.

  Watching.

  Waiting.

  ---

Morning came, and with it, new challenges.

An adventurer party had arrived—not regurs, but visitors from a distant city, drawn by rumors of the dungeon that didn't kill. They were nervous, suspicious, ready for betrayal.

Anya met them at Floor 20.

"I am the Spider Empress," she announced. "You have reached my domain. To proceed, you must face my trial."

  The adventurers paled. "T-trial?"

"A riddle. Answer correctly, and you pass. Fail, and you try again." Her multiple eyes glittered. "Would you like to hear it?"

  They nodded numbly.

Anya smiled—the first real smile since her awakening.

  "Good. Listen carefully..."

  ---

That night, as the dungeon settled into rest, I reflected on how far we'd come.

From a single chamber with one confused succubus to a thriving community of slimes, spiders, fragments, and adventurers. From isotion to family. From fear to love.

Three queens now. Lilith, first and fierce. Ruri, gentle and wise. Anya, proud and learning.

  Eight more to come.

And somewhere in the darkness, something that remembered me from before.

Whatever came, we would face it together.

  As family.

[Chapter 14 Preview: Trials of the Empress]

Anya's first official trials begin. Adventurers from across the region come to test themselves against the Spider Empress's riddles. Some succeed and earn rare silk rewards. Some fail and try again. And one—a young woman with haunted eyes—solves Anya's riddle so brilliantly that the empress takes personal interest.

Meanwhile, the younger generation's bonds deepen. Slime children and spider children py together, learn together, grow together. But not everyone approves. A visiting adventurer, traumatized by spiders in his past, threatens the fragile peace.

And in the depths, the watcher sends its first scout—a creature of shadow and hunger, moving toward the dungeon unseen.

Anya faces her first challenge as queen: protect her new family from an enemy she doesn't understand.

  ---

  Author's thought:-

And with that… the Spider Empress has arrived. ???

Anya is very different from Lilith and Ruri.

Lilith was born from emotion and instinct.

Ruri grew into her role through responsibility and care.

But Anya was created as a queen from the very beginning—with power, knowledge, and expectations… yet almost no experience living among others.

So her story isn't just about ruling.

It's about learning how to belong.

You probably noticed the small moments in this chapter:

  ? Anya asking for help

? Lilith choosing guidance instead of rivalry

? The younger slimes and spiders becoming friends naturally

Those moments are important, because the dungeon is slowly turning into something bigger than just a dungeon.

It's becoming a home for monsters that the world rejected.

And of course… something in the depths is watching.
